Hi portuguese guy right here! I think that you enjoyed the airline and the problem of TAP is not the flights is the adminstration because our governament is in a little crisis and TAP is a lot of polemic is Portugal because the governament want to make TAP a private airline (TAP is by now owned by the governament). The baggage situation its kinda normal. Also good video :)
The baggage delay that you experienced inside the plane is exactly because people like you with double weight on carry Ons make the flight get delayed. People try to bring the kitchen on board! and... complained. Go figure!

The International airlines in Portugal are TAP, Euroatlantic, HiFly and Azores Airlines. How do you say that there are ONLY 2? Your information is not updated my guy.
I’m Portuguese and I fly most of the times with TAP, so I can say that the delays happen like 90% of the times and the baggage situation also happens but, like you saw, the seats are comfortable, they just use new aircraft’s and it’s normally cheaper than others airlines, so overall I recommend flying with TAP
Yes, you got lucky with this flight, I usually fly to Amsterdam twice a year and never flown in this airplane. Most airlines don't give you a snack, you need to pay.
TAP has a huge number of kiosks to print your boarding pass in check in area A at Lisbon airport. I frequently fly TAP and they are pretty much the same as any other European airline. No better no worse. Delays happen with all airlines for a multitude of reasons. Their long haul is pretty good and way cheaper than many competitors. Note at passport control in Lisbon airport for arrivals and departures many passport holders can use the e-gates and avoid the queues. These include UK, USA and Canadian passports amongst several others
Complaining twice about potentially not being allowed to cheat by bringing a bag twice the allowed weight, seems like an odd issue to have with a airline, doubly so since you didn't even get caught.
Hi there, Portuguese guy here! The reason why you had your first flight delayed, as you said, is because of traffic issues in Lisbon. Well, in reality Lisbon airport is probably going to be shut down soon because it’s too busy and it’s too small. However a new airport near the region of Santarém (still close to Lisbon) will soon (in like 100 years time) be built, so… no more delays! Also, thank you for visiting Portugal! I hope you liked your visit and I hope (you must) that you return. Great video

I did two intercontinental and inter-European trips with TAP in March of this year (IAD-LIS-BCN and BIO-LIS-IAD), with a stop at the ANA lounge both ways, and had a similar experience (except maybe I guy I saw unabashedly filling his pockets with sandwiches at the lounge). TAP itself is pretty solid, and a good deal. Really happy with them. I'll be using them going forward. The problem is LIS. We had similar delays because of airport traffic issues. There is simply not enough capacity. The immigration lines were atrocious: technological breakdowns, surly staff, and people cutting the lines. I was expecting a fistfight to break out. The worst I had ever seen. That said, TAP is great, but two caveats: 1) the "regular bill of fare" was a bit greasy, so on the return we had the lovely vegetarian option. 2) Give yourself plenty of time to go through immigration if you're leaving the EU from LIS. Viagens felizes!

As someone who works with LIS airport a lot, Slot issues are really frequent, airport is at capacity and there's plans for a second airport in the Lisbon area due to that.
I just recently began watching your videos and I really like your overall style. Your reviews are fresh and genuine. However just to further clarify both of your flights were international. Spain (Barcelona) and Portugal ( Lisbon) are two separate and independent countries, hence your first flight was an international flight. What you most likely wanted to say was that your first flight was an international intra EU flight and your second one was an international flight departing from an EU member state. Happy Holidays 🎉
RE the lounge limitations. It's very common in Europe to have lounges assigned to 2 zones: Schengen and non-Schengen zone. For the latter, you'd need to go thru passport control before being let into the non-Schengen area
When I was looking to book a flight from the US to Portugal (for an upcoming trip) I decided to take a chance. One, because TAP was the only airline that flew direct from the US (Chicago) to Lisbon. All other airlines had connections and some connections were very long like 20 hours in some cases and some were too short like less than 90 minutes which for me, is a concern in general even if flying domestically. The bigger issue I found was that many airlines from the US also partner with airlines in Europe which itself isn't bad, but when you have to check a bag (which I do have to unfortunately) this greatly increases not only the risk you might miss your connection (as the flights I was looking at had layovers from 90 minutes to 4 hours), but also that your checked bag may not get on the connecting flight. So I took a chance and we'll see if it pays off (I don't necessarily mind the delays since it is a direct flight, and providing my bag makes it on the plane, then I don't mind that either since it is direct), so we'll see. But I think if you look at other airlines (like I compared them to Spirit in the US and Spirit and Frontier who are also very budget carriers and often delayed too, got worse reviews from US travelers, not to mention Spirit and Frontier charge for EVERYTHING). Even compared to mid-tier let's say 3-star airlines like Southwest, they only scored a 3.5 / 5 on average versus tap which was 3 / 5 (Spirit and Fonrtier were like 2 / 5 and 2.5 / 5). But then again, I've flow on Spirit too and for a red eye with a carry-on and a backpack, I only paid $80 one way which is cheap with a carry-on and the flight left on time and arrived early so I can't complain there, even though the seats were maybe not the most comfortable (it was a 4 hour flight though). And to those who think bigger airlines like United are better, not necessarily. My sister's flight back home from California was cancelled at the last minute and she was forced to stay at a hotel and come back to the airport the next morning (it was an 11pm red-eye flight across the country) so cancellations do happen. I think the key is to try to avoid travelling during busy times or peak times of the year/week. But as to the landing issue for LIsbon, that's usually where a lot of delays occur I think, is that at least in the US and probably worldwide, planes have to secure a slot to land at the destination airport before they can even take off so that part sounds about normal as I've run into that a few times on trips, where we are on the ground for an hour waiting for a slot to open up at the destination. \ In a nutshell, I guess your video does give me some comfort that maybe I made a reasonable decision (as all other options included 1+ stops, and I would have to fly a day later for cost reasons, and it's a direct non-stop flight from the US to Lisbon which is also a plus -- it minimizes the time I need to spend in planes).
Hello! For the 5 years I've lived here in Portugal, I'm not sure about this information, but based on what I've experienced here, I think it works like this. About not being able to film the flight attendants is because in Portugal there is a law in which people have to give consent for you to film them or take photos of them. you're right, both flights were flown with the exact same aircraft (A321LRneo). Only since the second flight is a transatlantic flight, they gave pillows.
Tap Air Portugal uses the Recaro CL3710 seat model for their economy class for all of their new international aircraft. ANd the reason why they use the A321neoLR is because there is a new trend of using smaller aircraft for long haul flights which have low demand that does not justify usage of a widebody like the A330neo, soon Airbus would launch a new version of the A321neo titled as the A321XLR which should be the longest range passenger narrowbody in the market.
With the asking the crew thing, I can confirm that it’s a European airline thing. I’ve only flown TUI, where they ask you, but I’ve heard about multiple airlines doing this.
Well, Im portuguese, what u said about the first flight delay is pretty common for flights to Lisbon and out from Lisbon because they only have one runway working 100% of the time, good video tho
Can you do a video about doing a lowest cost flight internationally within Europe? As in no ad ons or lounges etc? love your videos Also LISBON is the hub for TAP, spain and Portugal are different countries
Nice video!! You were really lucky to get the A321LR in Europe flights, they are usually used in transatlantic flights to Canada, USA and Brasil. The seats are the same as the A330NEO. About the meal service in European flights it’s Sales Service. The aircraft is the same :-) A321 Long Range 😊 Usually the menu is available in the IFE. The cake is Cookie Cake (Bolo de bolacha) 🤤 delicious. Lisbon airport has a big problem with traffic and being the biggest operator there TAP suffers the most with delays. You had lucky with the BCN-LIS flight getting that aircraft not experiencing the usual model that operates there with different seats. The 2nd flight could be the A330 NEO the only difference being bigger cabin and no individual air outlets 😂. Keep flying TAP 😊❤
You see, you were lucky to catch an Airbus 321LR (Long range) from BCN to LIS. European flights are normally done with the "NEO" versions, without inflight entertainment, wifi or individual cabinets. The "LR" version is a special version for long range, transatlantic flights that benefits Lisbon Hub, more that any other hub in Europe. Perfect for TAP transatlantic or euro-african routes. Small but with the same commodities of a wide body aircraft, much cheaper to operate.
Love watch you, since there is so much you don't really know about while traveling. Keep sharing, and I look forward to upcoming videos. Oh P.S. I hope on that flight you took, you slept a little too. It seemed like you were struggling a little lol
Their trans-atlantic A321LR has the most comfortable seats in all of eco/prem eco, and the meal services were amazing. 100 percent the best budget-friendly airline Edit: I was actually on the star alliance livery plane at 5:00 for PRG-LIS Edit 2: the Lisbon passport control for non-eu flights is beyond f***ing stupid. Same thing happened to me on my 2nd flight, however my gate was one of the ones right next to the exit for that so I was fine. Others were less fortunate and had to sprint across the terminal much like you did. Another thing I may add is at the gate I was at, you had to go through another passport check to enter the seating area for that gate, in which most had to stand since there were only about 60 seats for the 160 some-odd passengers on the flight.
Did you know that on November 19, 1977, TAP experienced a tragic accident in Madeira that resulted in the deaths of 131 out of 164 passengers on board? Since then, there have been no other recorded accidents, making it safe to say that TAP is one of the safest airlines in Europe.
@ericstruk, try flying Korean Air any class from Toronto or New York to Seoul. Korean Air is one of the world's best, and they got a 5 star rating on Skytrax
Yes they are great, but the cockpit is a wild guess. Just pray the pilots know what they are doing. On their SFO crash the pilots didn't know how to land a plane by hand, they rely on the autopilot to land the plane.
@@UnidentifiedBabo you right. But Korean air had a ton of crashes they blamed on cockpit culture. I have flown with them and their on board service is excellent.

I have never seen Eric so mad.😂 13:51
You should try Asia’s worst vs best airline (Lion Air and Singapore Airlines)
Happy Holidays everyone ❤
Tap Air Portugal uses the Recaro CL3710 seat model for their economy class for all of their new international aircraft. ANd the reason why they use the A321neoLR is because there is a new trend of using smaller aircraft for long haul flights which have low demand that does not justify usage of a widebody like the A330neo, soon Airbus would launch a new version of the A321neo titled as the A321XLR which should be the longest range passenger narrowbody in the market.
Hi Eric for your next airline review please do philippine airlines 😊
With the asking the crew thing, I can confirm that it’s a European airline thing. I’ve only flown TUI, where they ask you, but I’ve heard about multiple airlines doing this.
Well, Im portuguese, what u said about the first flight delay is pretty common for flights to Lisbon and out from Lisbon because they only have one runway working 100% of the time, good video tho
the sala lounge definitely reminded me of istanbul’s airport lounge
Love this video keep up the good work!
Man that’s so true, TAP has A330 but they a lot of times they use A321LR for long haul flights😭that’s so weird, im Portuguese btw
Can you do a video about doing a lowest cost flight internationally within Europe? As in no ad ons or lounges etc? love your videos
Also LISBON is the hub for TAP, spain and Portugal are different countries
Nice video!! You were really lucky to get the A321LR in Europe flights, they are usually used in transatlantic flights to Canada, USA and Brasil. The seats are the same as the A330NEO.
About the meal service in European flights it’s Sales Service.
The aircraft is the same :-) A321 Long Range 😊
Usually the menu is available in the IFE.
Eric I love your videos. Could you come to Africa to test some airlines
love ur vids eric!!😍 can you maybe fly vueling next, they fly in europe, spanish airlines:)
This is so funny! Merry Christmas everyone!
Keep it up Eric!
True!
Not ONLY tap is the best Portugal airline but is it also the ONLY airline on Portugal wow how crazy
I also love that TAP flies a long range variant of the A321 on a 1 and a half hour long flight.
haha, jetstar australia does the same, if flies the a321neo LR from here in melborune to sysney which can sometimes be a 55 minute flight
@@Revilok08it not sysney its sydney
I took tap air from America to Italy and the food was 5 stars. The comfort seats I recommend another 5 stars EVERYTHING WAS 5 STARS
Their trans-atlantic A321LR has the most comfortable seats in all of eco/prem eco, and the meal services were amazing. 100 percent the best budget-friendly airline
Edit: I was actually on the star alliance livery plane at 5:00 for PRG-LIS
Edit 2: the Lisbon passport control for non-eu flights is beyond f***ing stupid.
Cool very cool
How were you on that flight if he was at Barcelona airport at the time
@@CPH712 i was on that same plane on a different day
Eric I travel a lot and have really been enjoying your vids.
i love when he was swearing:)) it was so funny
I haven’t flown since 2019 and now ive been pleasantly surprised you can use WiFi on planes - I have a flight tmrw from London to lax
I booked a flight for this summer with Iberia from LA to Madrid. It was only 345$ round trip, so I guess I’ll see but that is still a lot cheaper
If you have time, you can check out and test the best airlines in Asia like Japan Airlines, or Korean Air. It makes you surprised
Thanks a lot for this Eric!
Marry Christmas and happy New year 🎉 -------> if everyone have to get a lovely Christmas 🎄 😊
Did you know that on November 19, 1977, TAP experienced a tragic accident in Madeira that resulted in the deaths of 131 out of 164 passengers on board? Since then, there have been no other recorded accidents, making it safe to say that TAP is one of the safest airlines in Europe.
Absolutely nobody reviewing this airline appreciates this information
In my opinion your next vid should do Mexicos Best and Worst Airlines. Great vid!
Me as a Portuguese person this is a win. But btw Lisbon and porto airport are very crowded
Can you do comparison like this:
Best airline in North Europe
As a Portuguese, TAP isn't the best one that flies in Portugal but it is the best Portuguese airline, they are good in certain things
Hello Erick I’m English in Europe I’ve never been touched by airport security have a good Easter 1:39
Amazing video my friend ❤
The short answer for the aircraft being smaller is because it is cheaper and more fuel efficient
Can you do UK leisure airlines (TUI Vs Jet2)
Eric can you please try the danish airline Jettime
You should try flying El-Al
You should fly Emirates and Qatar
@ericstruk, try flying Korean Air any class from Toronto or New York to Seoul. Korean Air is one of the world's best, and they got a 5 star rating on Skytrax
Yes they are great, but the cockpit is a wild guess. Just pray the pilots know what they are doing. On their SFO crash the pilots didn't know how to land a plane by hand, they rely on the autopilot to land the plane.
@@rui8492 I'm talking about Korean Air, not Asiana
@@UnidentifiedBabo you right. But Korean air had a ton of crashes they blamed on cockpit culture. I have flown with them and their on board service is excellent.
@@rui8492 ikr
Can you do Alaska Vs MIA Airlines video Please?
the meal that you eat wasnt chicken, it was a Brazilian-Portuguese food, problaly was cow or porch, and the name of the meal is chili ( the zone where i live)
On a TAP flight from Amsterdam to Lisbon in 2017 I was also told i couldn't film crew, so it might be an actual policy they have.
Happy holidays to you too Eric. Can tou please try and fly with British airways next. (And when your in Australia please fly Qantas)
I hope you can try the Emirates A380 between London and Dubai.
4:59 the fact that bro didnt care about the tap air star alliance livery
Hi! Can u do please Smartwings? 😊
Heyy lol i luv ur vids eric
