UA-cam will never know just how right their algorithm was to show you this video! You're right, Rich had a bad start compared to my car. To put it in perspective both cars were mapped on the same rolling road and mine has ~10bhp less and it also had the extra weight of a passenger and a roll cage so the power to weight ratio wasn't in its favour. There is only one reason mine was in front, it has a Quaife ATB differential so it can use much more power in 1st and 2nd, you can see Rich catching up later when they weren't traction limited.
And to me. I was racing an M3 in my remapped 335d and was doing 140mph when they did it. I had to swerve to lane one to undertake them as I couldn't stop in time. They weren't even overtaking anything which made it even worse, although at least it meant lane 1 was clear!
The 205 GTI is a much better car, especially with a 2.0 16v engine. The 106 is more likely to be rusty even though it'll be a bit newer and the gearboxes are very weak. Also IMO the s16 engine (XU10J4) is very underrated, on paper they have 155bhp but 175bhp is easy to achieve by replacing the restrictive exhaust manifold.

You're correct. Such a terrible mistake, they would have sold a lot of them. I dismantled a Citroen BX 16v and fitted the engine into my 205 myself. That would be illegal in France I think? But it is perfectly legal in the UK.
Crap compared to what ? Modern cars which are 30+ years newer in technology ? No shit sherlock, but back then anything sub 8 seconds to 60mph was pretty quick. My car does 0-60 in around 4.2-4.3 seconds, but it's not as exciting as going 0-60 in 6 seconds in a 90's hatch.

Thanks! It's a 405 Mi16 1.9 engine with Jenvey individual throttle bodies and a standard OE exhaust so it's almost all induction noise.
