  • This week we return with some automotive content, this time repair of the door lock actuator in my 1995 Mercedes S320! This wasn’t too bad of a job, just something where you need to take your time, go slow, and think about things to avoid breaking little parts.

    It would be nice to actually see the door actuator being removed from the door. That plastic shield in there makes everything twice as difficult and I might not reinstall it. I'm not sure what I'm missing why this piece will not come out. If this video ever gets redone by somebody else please show exactly how to take that piece out.

      try to replace your vapor plastic - otherwise door panel will get wet and moldy

    My w140 door lock actuator is doing same think but unlocks with key not remote fob. Also the vacuum door is not closing is there separate pump for self closing door?

    I'm sorry for double question but did you fix that issue fix that issue with trunk latch? In the description you mentioned it wasn't the trunk actuator. I tried to find any other videos on your channel related to that issue but I couldn't find anything. Thanks.

    All my locks go up and down just fine but I notice that every time I unlock the vehicle, the driver's door hisses for about 5 seconds or until the pump shuts off.
    I assume it's the actuator right?
    I also notice that my lumbar loses all the air after 2 days, assuming its the actuator leaking air out.

      Good question, my car exhibits those exact same symptoms both with the door hiss (driver's only) and with the lumbar losing air after a while. Typically lumbar issues are the bladder in the seat, not sure about the actuator. It hasn't posed a problem and doesn't cause the pump to run excessively, so I've left it alone. Thanks for watching!

      @@redonKiLaus Haha what a coincidence that you mention it, I just replaced both lumbar bladders a week ago! You should too, my driver's one was leaking so I changed both sides out (they were yellow and frail). I think it should be the actuator, I turned off my lumbars rn because the leaking actuator is actually causing the bladder to go flat.

      Mine does the same thing with the hiss, it’s the driver door, all doors have soft close but the driver door won’t do it. My guess is that it’s the door lock actuator. Was that the fix on yours? Thanks

    How do you put the door control panel back in, I can’t find a way to flip the clips back , so it’s locked , please help

      You need to flip those clips, they do lock in place when rotated out of the way, sometimes you need to use pliers on them to get the necessary leverage but you definitely need to be gentle as they are delicate and if broken require replacement of the whole module. Thanks for watching!

    Great video my driver side door lock and unlock by the key and the handle pull's out but the door won't open what can I do

      Sounds like you need to take a look inside the door jamb at about the handle's level and see if the securing mechanism is latched/tightened in place. There is an access port into there in that jamb area. Thanks for watching!

    Great video - I have a situation where all doors unlock except the drivers - the tab is moving and gets about 1/3 up but that's it - then have to open with the key. All doors lock fine - any ideas? 94 S500.

      Might be a leaking or sticking air cylinder (actuator). Could be a mechanical hangup as well. Thanks for watching!

      @@ivoovi7680 no - i took the door apart but didn't see anything obvious and didn't try changing out parts - tried lubricating some areas but that didn't help

    My lock does this on the same door. It also doesn’t lock and unlock with the remote anymore on this door. Should this fix it?

      It should, assuming when you say it won't unlock or lock you're just referring to that one door. If the receiver in the handle is functioning then I'd swap the entire air cylinder unless you know it's just the rod. Thanks for watching!

    That actuator might be driver side thats the only way it make sense to have the wires driver side is the master so it tells the pump to activate.

      I believe it's a later model cylinder with a hall effect sensor to sense up/down. Thanks for watching!

    I have a rear door that just won't open, the tab goes up with the key fob, but door will not open. Any ideas, on how to attack the problem, I sprayed a whole can of ice rust freeze and wd40..I was thinking of buying another door card, same colour and cutting up the original door card to get to the door insides.. Not sure what would be wrong once inside, from the inside of the car..

      Sounds like the linkage became disengaged between the actuator and the actual lock mechanism (could have broken, come apart, etc). A talented locksmith may be able to pop the door open, that would be my next thing to look at. Thanks for watching!

    Would a heat help to release the foam and plastic from the door?
