Take a walk with me in Zamboanga City in Mindanao Philippines. IS IT SAFE? Located in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga City in Mindanao is called the "City of Flowers", and is one of the busiest ports in the Philippines. Fresh seafood is very popular in Zamboanga City, and if you ever make it here, check out Paseo Del Mar, lots of places to try some local seafood. This video was taken during the week long celebration of the Hermosa Festival, also known as the Fiesta Pilar. This was my first time walking here, and I have to tell you, it was exciting, and the people were super friendly. I'm not going to lie, I felt a little hesitant at first hearing rumors about the dangers of this area, but to be honest, I did not feel at all threatened, and the people "in my experience", seemed friendlier than many parts of Luzon. Now would I recommend visiting this place? I my experience, absolutely. But my experience may be different from yours, and as always, be cautious wherever you go. What doesn't happen to me, can happen to you! I enjoyed my time in Zamboanga City, and I'm looking forward to coming back in the near future!
@@KryptoTrekker I've noticed in your videos that people sometimes spot and wave to your camera. Which camera do you use for these walks and how do you carry it around in these sometimes crowded places?
I don't mean to offend. I'm an American guy considering missionary work in zamboanga. I'm just wondering what complection does the filmer have? Is he white? Not trying to be offensive just legitimaly wondering if I might have a similar experience in this city.
I am from Vietnam I have a friend from the Philippines and I am researching my friend's country and In my opinion the cities from the Southern Visayas region and Mindanao The climate, landscape and culture are quite similar to South Vietnam and I also like this city.
It's Zamboanga City, the Asia and Pacific Islands' only Hispanic City, because the tribes there speak Chavacano which is a Spanish Creole Language. If you know Las Islas Filipinas history, we were once a colony of Spain and ruled via Mexico (New Spain) and Spanish was our official language for 333 years and Chavacano was the remnant of the once dominant Spanish language. I recommend you to go there, you will feel like you're in a little Mexico City in another continent. 💪✌️
Hello from Connecticut in America, and yes I pretty sure it's safe, you would not be making a video there if you felt UNSAFE. 😊 nice video😊 there's good and bad peoples everywhere on earth.😢
Hello from Texas, USA. Another great video. I've been looking at some of your previous videos since I've found your site. I would't take a chance going there. I monitor the State Department website. I also keep a low profile while traveling. Have you heard anything through the grapevine about the young man that was kidnapped? I'm hoping he will be OK. Also, what camera model are you using and where is it mounted. It's very stable. Take care.
Im from GenSan. I really like and envy zamboanga as they’re streets and the city are full of pedestrians instead of cars which gives it the city vibes. Here in gensan all we got is wide highways and traffic lol
sa design kasi yan sir. Most pedestrians you see walking wala silang own motor/car and the arrangements of jeepney station/paradahan in Zamboanga city is somewhere on the outskirts of pueblo/downtown and it's divided into two routes mostly the west cost and east cost. Most of the westcost is the university (WMSU), Polytechnic, and even CHED and PRC is there. On the east cost is mostly commercial and people taking the bus terminal to other parts of the region and to other parts of mindanao in terms of doing some errands. The public market and most old department stores are right jn the middle. Everything is walking distance within the pueblo/downtown. Virtually no parking for old department stores except the latest addition of SM and some others. So people prefer to walk because it allows you to do more task and buy what you need than find parking if you have a car/motor. I say the energy of people is back to almost normal. During my highschool years, those sidewalks were really fully packed. Only cons like any city in Philippines is prices of items and goods are more expensive than abroad
that will be the old business district. this City is expanding and will have its new central business district designed by renound Architect from Dubai.🎉
Would i like to visit? Certainly. I have probably 50 questions and the area was one of the most vibrant areas that you have filmed. Would I visit? Probably not in this lifetime.
Ciudad de Zamboanga.. One of the busiest cities in Mindanao, with many local languages being spoken (you can tell from this video) - the primary of which is Chavacano, a mundane reminder of our relatively not-so distant colonial past. Truly a melting pot in the south. With some of the most beautiful people in this country, literally 😅 Truly distinct in character from other Philippine towns and cities, but still very undeniably Filipino.
not just gasoline, basic good and staple food is more expensive in any city in Philippines compared to a first world country. Electricity is very expensive. Tax is very High as well. Don't say they are poor, they have no choice but to spend more to have less. If these people live in a better government, they would be be richer than you. I can say that because I was from this city. Everything seems just difficult. Power outage is on a daily basis Vegetables and fruits are expensive. I mean compare here in Dubai where you can buy a kilo of onion for around 30 pesos if converted, in zamboanga you will be lucky to but it for 100 per kilo. It's probably more now. So yes it is the government. Wages are low too
@@KryptoTrekker can't really tell much simply by looking at this clip but obviously traffic is crazier and perhaps more crowds & buildings. Was a student back then at ADZ, from Malaysia

The only reason why the travel advisories there don’t recommended going there is simply due to its proximity to the Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
