- Everton reached a third consecutive FA Cup Final with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Everton needed extra time to progress, with Alan Harper equalising before Graeme Sharp scored the winner.
What a superb Everton team that was!!
We were missing the best goalkeeper in the world. Two of the best wide players in Europe and the leagues and subsequently the world cups top scorer. Bracewell who was a cert for the world cup squad was only playing with pain killing injections, yet we still won.
Used to love watching English football back then. The cup semis were awesome. What a shame Sky and £££££s killed it...
back when FA Cup semifinals played on neutral stadiums.
So true..
This is all we have these days. Watching good Everton teams. A lifetime ago!
As the George Harrison song goes back then long time ago when we were fab
Used to love semi-finals day. Both matches on neutral venues and both games on the same day.
Agent of Chaos yeah i think the same, just sint the same anymore, semis at wembley is a non startervfor me, also both semis should kick off at 3, not 5.15 orcany other daft time
Unfortunately the cup isn’t the same anymore. It used to be so important.
Great memories. Harper was a hero.
Still the best Everton side of all time come on Everton 💙💙💙💙💙💙 y
"Harper who did his trade as a full back and is playing in midfield showed a forwards instinct". Classic bit of commentary from the now sadly departed John Motson for Alan Harper's goal.
I was behind the goal in the witton lane end when harper scored, fabulous team great memories.
Everton fans certainly loved a pitch invasion after a goal in the 80’s!! And why not!!
Was there, great times....didn't run on though 😂
We're still the same now mate! Although most of our pitch invading over the last thirty years has more been when we've dodged relegation rather than when we've won something or reached a final like our 80s heyday.
what a reply. It was instant :)
When we were truly great!!!!
EVERTON FALLS ROAD BELFAST IRELAND LUV YA!!!
Those were the days my friend, we beat the stretford end, we be beat the Kop of Liverpool.fc. Na na carrier...........COYB.....
Everton were an oddball team in cup semi finals in the 80s. They played in five, the first as a struggling team who put in a performance far better than their league form and yet somehow lost. And then played four more as one of the best teams in the land in which they performed far below their league form each team and yet somehow squeezed through by the odd goal each time.
Up the ton and the ra😎
you back again
Mind you they played very good Luton and Sheffield Wednesday teams which made for really hard games.
The gang of oddballs playing for them now will be getting relegated this season..
A great day in the witton lane end. A little pre match flutter on West Tip came up trumps and back to Liverpool for a almighty piss up. The FA fucked up big time putting semi-finals at Wembley
"Agonizingly wide"... Brilliant comment lol. Footbalwise, this was definitely the time when men were men.
THREE TIMES RUNNING? ONLY THE SECOND TEAM THIS CENTURY TO DO SO.THE OTHER TEAM MUST HAVE BEEN ARSENAL THEN!1978,1979 AND 1980.ALSO ARSENAL GOT THERE IN THE 2000S DIDN'T THEY? 1999?2001?2002?2003,2005?2014,2015,2017,2019? OR 2018? WHO WAS 2020? CHELSEA V? BLIMEY.ARSENAL ARE NEVER AWAY FROM THE PLACE!AMAZING HOW THEY WERE AWAY FROM 2005 TO 2014 WASN'T IT? 3-2 V HULL CITY FROM 0-2 DOWN.WHAT A SUPERB FINAL THAT THAT WAS.ALMOST LIKE THE 1970S AGAIN!
Football is so boring nowadays...
Agreed.
StDomingoesEFC - Harper scored first, then Carl Shutt equalised 3 minutes later
No comments about the final eh.
Mullet mania!
We where the best team in Europe back then
