    Even though I'm not skating currently, I've got more videos coming so, so stay tuned! And to all those who support the channel, it's always greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I always like your channel because you wear pads! So many people still stuck on that macho bs like it can’t happen to them. We are all one wrong move away from losing it all. Our health is our most valuable asset. Hope you heal up well!

      Thanks for the support! I would have needed American football shoulder pads to help with this injury, but I did actually have the helmet scrape the ground as I rolled through. First time I’ve ever had that happen. There are videos where I may skip some protection, but the helmet is never negotiable for me.

    Good luck and speedy recovery. I am having foot surgery tomorrow (chronic, non-skating related injury) and will be shut down for about 3 months. Got my last skate in this morning on an absolutely perfect Fall day. I’m really going to miss skating, but I’m optimistic that with this surgery I’ll be as good as new. I’ve got a pair of FR SL Speeds on the way. I’ll just have to stare at them for motivation for a while. Love your channel.

    Get well soon. I'm glad for your sake you're being smart about letting it heal. Injuries stink! I lived with a torn labrum (shoulder ligament) for more than a decade, which resulted in repeated dislocations (quite scary and painful). Finally got surgery to sew things back together, and so far so good. I finally felt safe enough to get on skates again after 15 years this summer, and I found your channel. Your tutorial on the soul slide was a huge help for me - backwards skating is not near my comfort zone, so being able to control speed facing forward has been great. Anyways, your videos are very much appreciated as well as the helpful attitude you show in them. BTW I would certainly be interested in hearing about your skate setups.

    I hope you recover soon and stick to the physical therapy, you'll be back in no time. After my first couple of falls I decided to opt for full protective gear and it has really come in handy. Hands, elbows, and knee pads have served their purpose and it's been money well spent. planning on getting better equipment for next season, even though I plan on blading and ice skating through the winter.

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, hopefully the shoulder will be good as new eventually! Protection is never a bad idea. Unfortunately for me, I would have needed American football shoulder pads to save this injury. I did however graze my helmet on the ground in this fall. A reminder of why I wear it, even though this is the first time it ever got scratched. I didn’t actually hit my head, but the helmet touched as I rolled through the fall.

    There are people who also just somehow know how to fall properly, and I'm not one of them because I started skating later in life. It's such an underrated skill because you can really try new things and challenge yourself a lot more if you're not worried about always breaking a wrist or fracturing something. Not saying you don't know how to fall, just that I'm envious of people who skated early in life and sort of got it for free.

    glad to see you're doing ok mate, given the circumstances.
    you have no idea how much i feel you. this time last year, actually exactly on Sept. 30th last year i broke my shoulderbone while skating, i literally bodychecked the sidewalk with my left shoulder and broke the the upper part of my shoulder bone just below the shoulder joint. lucking it was a hairline fracture and no surgery was needed i was just confined to a harness like you for 4-6 weeks and it was a beautiful warm october i missed out on.
    i got back on skates asap, which was basically in march. hope the collarbone heals up good and you'll back on skates :)

      Ouch!! Don't feel bad. My third time at the rink in the last month after not skating in over 20 years, got caught up last night in a chain reaction of 3 people falling, me being the last, avoided the first crash and don't have the skills to to have made a move on the second one, my boot got caught under her leg and I flew over, we all heard a pop. Little swollen today and beyond painful.
      Shit happens. It's a risk to do literally anything.
      Looks like I'm down for a little bit. Shame, too, because that was the first time at a rink in my new frx80s and I was just starting to get a decent skate going. Few little crossovers. Felt so good until it didn't 🤣🤣

    I personally don't see a good reason for this all or nothing attitude. I would still put on the skates now and do a relaxed lap, because the cold, wet time is approaching, which will slow you down anyway.
    One topic would be: matching headphones for skating, what do they have to be able to do. Inear vs onear, cable vs wireless, etc.

    Sorry to hear about your injury. How long are you going to wait to return to aggressive skating? I have a similar injury only I did not break my clavicle. Last September I was sprinting on my blades and one of my skates hit something and stopped, sending me flying to land directly on my shoulder and head. Luckily I was wearing pads and a helmet. I have been skating, but I am nervous and do not know if I should continue. My shoulder feels good (no surgery) and I have been doing other activities, but I am afraid of falling on my shoulder again.

    One question, what will you do differently to prevent this from happening again?
    Another question, may I ask you your skate size? I wear a eu 40 and I'm worried that endless90 will be too big

    • @rerollinginline
      @rerollinginline  Рік тому

      Thanks, I think it's been healing well so far! Honestly, I won't change much. I wasn't doing anything particularly dangerous. Sometimes you miss a curb and fall. This just happened to end up with a broken bone. I still am more careful than I need to be, if I'm being perfectly honest. I'm more risk averse than I would have been 10 or 20 years ago.
      Depending on skate, I'm also an EU 40. My feet are 265mm long. In my FR SL's, I wear their EU 40, which they list as mondopoint 26cm. In my FR1 Deluxe Intuition I wear the 40.5 - 41.5. I think "too long" is entirely subjective. It depends on how you like to skate, what skates you're putting them on, how experienced you are etc. etc. It's a bummer that you can't rent frames to try before buying, lol. I bought 90s because I thought 100s would be too long, but I also like my 100s. I like my 90s better, but I just like a more agile frame for my style of skating. I never feel like 100s are too big for me to handle or anything, I've got a lot of videos in them. Unfortunately, it will be trial-and-error for every individual to see what they like.
