What do you guys think about these? personally, i hate em! Drop a comment down below and let us know, And thanks so much for watching guys. We will catch you in the next one!
Love junkyard starts.
TheRed58Fury1 you and me both!

@@MXguy95 and you and me and him
My dad owned one of these until about 3 years ago when he bought a caravan, since he had it for most of my life, i was crying when he sold his ol' freestar named esmerelda.
I didn't have mine for long but really hated to see it go because it was the perfect vehicle for a big, tall, and disabled person. A bunch of stuff went wrong at once so I scrapped it. Whoever gets that engine will get a good one.
I have a 99 ford windstar SEL with no rust. Original engine and trans (im at 160,000) have had no issues whatsoever yet but I keep up my maintenance. I rebuilt the front end on it last year, new front subframe, control arms, sway bar links, etc. about 2,000 with labor. Any car will go the distance if you maintain and drive it properly.
I think my mom's Windstar was a 99 SEL as well. It had leather seats and automatic sliding doors, but it also had the POS 3.0 V6. Take one of those vans and put an Ecoboost in it, and you've got one badass van.
That freestar is legit the old angry grandpa van
lol
Jelephant 😂😂
Jelephant omg I was just watching that!
Jelephant I wonder if it was his old one I remember the prank Michael did with the coconut fake blood and hair and made agp think he hit someone while drunk 😂
Jelephant yep
We had 2 Windstars, one was a 95 and the other was an 01. Both were great, the 95 had almost 200k on it when a tree crushed it in an ice storm. The 01 had the transmission fail and at the time we couldn't afford to fix it so we just used the 03 Taurus for about 5 years as our only vehicle. Honestly I think these are good vans but you have to keep up on the maintenance, especially the transmission.
1:56 Your neighbor be like when your playing music to loud in an apartment
1:01 and on the floor, I got my big ass jug of gas 😂😂 best remake ever
Remake from what?
Nazareth is not garbage. Good music
Carl Pedersen FINALLY someone who gets it!
That's the best vecicle I've seen U with yet.
HAHA BEN SNATCHER... my brother bought a ranger from there back in the 90's.. now jim hudson done took over EVERYTHING
Those jumpers are wrong. That's how you toast the ECM. You need to connect the negative side to the dead cars frame ground. Any frame support under the hood that isn't isolated by a soft bushing.
I just traded in a 2001 Windstar, similar van, on a new Hyundai. Engine had suddenly lost compression on 2 out of 6 cylinders. Van had other issues and it was time for a new car!
Come on Freestar I'm got faith in you my father had a 2004 SES model, in Merlot red it ran like a wet dream, btw I personally named her "Katherine" I loved Katherine until I saw her being sent to the scrap heap when I got home from school one day in 2012 😭😭😭
This one was garbage.
Jay Smart oh anyways do you still have any of the Nissan vans
Why didn’t the guy just fill it up?🤨😆was it low enough for him not able to make it to the station?
Jay needs to stop calling them vehicles a piece of shit because they’re not
its got a foot brake in it it may look like a clutch pedal put its actually the (e brake aka the hand brake )
Angry grandpa’s car! I realy think it is
To bad you cant find one 5 speed. I want a 5speed 4x4 92 5.0 explorer my dream ride.
It's gotta have hand crank windows.
Was the trans shift cable connected? Fell off on my sisters old Taurus lol
Miss the junkyard days
Are you from Minnesota because those stations are familiar 93 x
Can you save this car from the junkyard?
Angry grandpas van
Not only does it run but there were no warning lights showing up on the dashboard after it had started and completed its self-test cycle. I don't think it's got a limiter on it though, I think the coil packs are breaking down under load, which may well be why it ended up getting junked. Plenty of good parts on that one but I think it's too knocked around to be worth saving...
gosportjamie you'd be surprised about the limiter. We have two more of these older vans here and they both revved out at the same rpm range when not in gear. If it had a coil pack issue then the computer would have picked up on it and thrown a code . Especially if it was miss firing. I think that's just where it limits out of gear. My pops Honda Civic (2002) would only rev to 3k in park or nuetral . But you could try to engine brake it in drive and slam it into nuetral while it was floored and it would trick it into revving to the redline
+Jay Smart I suppose it makes sense as a way to protect dumb owners/drivers from themselves...
Lets see what the radio sounds like *turns on* garbage cool! 😂😂😂
The Mercury Villager is better than a Nissan Quest,,,,,hahahaha They are the same mini van,,But that Freestar with tender loving care would have move, but Mr Smart here, dont have the patience,Why didn't you accelarated the Nissan when you booting the Freestar?,Your battery can be crossed boosting a dead battery,,check fuses, and transmission needs oil add some,How many miles does the clonker has?
Yeah throw some fluid there
gil zur I'm pretty sure it's just toast.
Angry Grandpa had that Car
Can you film that old 60s ford looking car at 9:00 it came into view when the crotch Rocket went by
hello, where do i get these junkyard cars to buy?
Flat towing that on a strap will have messed up the transmission royally. Never, ever tow an automatic car with the drive wheels on the ground other than in a dire emergency and then only far enough to get the car into a safe position otherwise you'll ruin the automatic transmission and give yourself another big bill to fix that too...
Like I said. Of course having transmission fluid might help a little too. I reckon that transmission is cooked...
+Dan H I strongly suspect you are right. If it wasn't before, and that was the reason for the car being junked, flat towing it certainly hasn't helped it any...
The autos in these and the CVT's in the Freestyles... ouch. Disposable. But then again so are the Chryslers of this vintage, too.
Not bad to drive. Just not durable when you get to above 100k. The Aisin autos in Volvos and Toyotas are really durable with basic maintenance. The ancient GM TH125/125c are also. Any CVT it seems you are on borrowed time. Ivan from Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics just finished swapping out the CVT on his wife's Nissan Rogue. She was lucky - she got 160k before sudden catastrophic failure.
+Steve Varholy CVT transmissions have always been troublesome, apart from the original Van Doorne system used on the "rubber band" DAFs and Volvos which tended to only need drive belts every 10-15 years and maybe the occasional vacuum line. I rather suspect that material technology isn't high enough yet to make CVT properly reliable...
BE HUMBLE
Did you sell your 1995 Lincoln town car
Are you from Ct ?
oil stick is missing
Why americans just throw the cars away like that?
To be continued?
Nope. Probably gonna stop right here since the trans is shot
You don’t start the engine when there is no fuel otherwise you are going to kill the fuel pump
Someone I know had one that same color, transmissions are shit on those
The free star and wind star were known for having lot of issues. My mom had a wind star and we were lucky that our van didn't have a problem with the axle snapping. A lot of wind stars and frees stars lined junk yard parking lots because the rear axle buckled.
I did not know the nissan was running until he opened the hood
Yeah those Quests run reaaaal quiet 🙂
Sounds like a Tesla
This van similarly looks like angry grandpa's, Same state, same color, dirty interior. if it reeks of cigarettes it sure is AGP's
1:50 that's usually how I fix problems with my electronics
Samuel J. Well... It did make it stop clicking haha
Have you used a CD player before ? They all do that when you turn them on it was just a coincidence it stoped when you hit it
+Jay Smart mbnm!
Jay Smart I thought it was kinda funny when you beat up the CD player abd it lined up with the "ding, ding, ding" of the minivan.
"Percussive" maintenance
It's a 2006 and it's at a junk yard wow I just saw one at a dealership going for 7.000$
Our one is still working amazing!
@@antoniojmonetti even for that milage, it is still a scam
The Freestar replaced the Windstar and Freestars had models 2004-2007
Transmission likely isn't dead. These vans had torque converter failure problems. Look up the VIN on NHTSAs website. It might be under recall for a free replacement.
I rely on carcomplaints.com for recalls
Thanks for that info about his van because I have a Freestar 2007 in the transmission just stopped
Come on Jay, don't cheap out---$20 on trans fluid might make you $800 of easy money. Remember the old saying "It takes money to make money". I definitely want to see a part 2 on this.
Even better they own a junkyard. Go drain one and test for free.
2006: Ford recommends BP gas!
2010: Oops...
2021: bp’s barely in business
That agp old van that money u got there dude
I've bought these with 120,000 on them and out other 200,000 with normal maintenance then sold them to someone else and they drove them for awhile . Oh yeah with out check engine lights . 3.0 Ford where the work horse of Ford for years . Of course if you don't keep any car up they will all fall apart . Great videos bud keep it up .
This is going to make you laugh, but early era Nissan Quest vans were made by mercury motor company.
Joseph Linz I knew that lol
DustinStarts Roasting RBLX crazy right?
you mean ,,the other way around,,,Nissan made it for Mercury,,,Mercury copied every from Ford
@@peteypon2974 Nope. Ford made the van, but it has a Nissan engine and Trans. Ford insisted on one thing while they made them. They insisted that Nissan redesign the 3.0 liter engine so that it is a clearance engine. If the timing belt breaks, the valves won't hit the pistons, as they will in the regular Nissan engine. Ford built the van for Nissan rebadged as a Nissan Quest. Ford marketed the van through their Mercury division.
The windstar and freestar could go fast my sister had one and it went fast
"Does it run? Yes. What is better? The Nissan Quest." Lol
I was a poet and didn't know it .
I've got a 2007 Freestar that I LOVE. I prefer THAT.
true dat
How much for the $ ford van were u guy's location at...?
You dogged on the Freestar yet it had a running motor 4.2 v6 can actually tow something. You admitted you put maitenatnce into the Quest. If you did the same with the Freestar you have a better van, its a 4.2 v6
Well the Windstars and Freestars were great looking minivans inside and out. It just sucks that they were so unreliable. I've always preferred the Windstar over the Freestar.
we had an original wind star put over 300k before we scraped her. now admittedly every major thing that could go wrong in it went wrong about 3 times XD.
Hugh Mungus Damn, that sucks but at least you got over 300K on it.
Aerostar #1
Big Jon 220 I prefer the Aerostar lol
Big Jon 220 Yeah me too
Hard to belive that the same company that made this minivan also makes the 2017 Explorer and Edge. My has Ford come a long way!!
He towed an automatic car.. There you go, he blew the trans.
Ive towed a few autos, but normally rear wheel drive and i drop the drive shaft.
Since i wanted to tow a Ford Mondeo MK2 (Contour MK2 in the US) to my home (crashed car, airbags deployed) the car won't let me. It is an AL4DE Aut. Trans, FWD. - Drove it up on a trailer and brought it home. But for 125€ "~$150" with new technical inspection (recommended in germany every 2 years) and a lot of electric features.. Full Automatic sunroof, 4x electric windows. heated seats and so on.. getting it road-ready again and maybe get some contour parts of the US, making the face look like a Contour. Lol.
My first Mondeo MK2 is a Ghia 24V Duratec 2.5 V6 with manual trans. pretty rare in that trim. Got everything you could choose when buying it. 6x electric leather seats, heated, Ford RNS2 + CD Changer (Navigation System) headlight washers
Sweet thing.. Love it Want a Contour Badge so bad for it haha
Lol automatic transmissions truly do suck if they just break from a bit of towing
Bullshit you can Tow in neutral
@@michaelmooreloveless2138 You sure can just make sure you keep it at Least 30kmh the whole way 😉
You said you have a snapchat in a older vid whats your username?
Also if there's no transmission fluid. It won't shift or go into gear
I had an 06 freestar..used it as a livery. This can was a deep burgundy with charcoal grey leather. Captains chairs dual DVD climate control. All the bells and whistles. It was a gorgeous looking minivan I got a lot of compliments on it. Bought it with 200k one owner I had it in service for 5 years and retired it with 403k
The new jay smart phrase: Oh wow
Easy on that 200k engine now come on man. These vans fell apart by 60k so this one is a trooper
Someone must've babied it
I've never seen a Windstar or a Freestar in "decent" shape LOL. Maybe because its newer? I never see a newer ish one.
Windstar's and Freestar's were both trash. I'm glad you agree.
I have one at 102k still drives and shifts like new and a/c is like a meat freezer, take care of your shit and it takes care of you
The torque converter was a factory recall, had the same issue but had it replaced and it moved again just fine!
It'll be interesting when you get the transmission fluid, i'm interested if it's sell-able or not. It looks sell-able. Just got to wait and see.
North Omaha Dashcam I'm not so sure I'm going to try and put fluid in it. I know you guys would like to see it. But it's ready for processing
Schon239 N.O.D cgbnkm bc kl
Why did people buy so many of these turds when Toyota and others made much better vans? They rebated the sh*t out of these to get Mr. and Mrs. Average American to buy them on payments. If the transmission hasn't crapped out then the power steering is whining like a sawmill. These things SUCK.
It's just like the Angry Grandpa's van!
Is it just my iPad or is it his camera
Ford has a recall on freestars. Torque converter. They suck the gas ⛽️ but the ride is comfortable. They had transmission failures
This is car angry grandpa
The E-brake light was lit on the dash did you try the release lever?
I disagree with you. We have ford trucks Van's at my job all have 300 400k original miles..maintenance is key....and people r always gonna say toyota nissan being superior and that's not true we had em at my job and they couldn't handle the job always gave us problems. Boss let them go sad but true.
Hi Jay, do you have any Freestar Parts? I need the back hatch square handle and a windshield bracket where the wipers sit on I forgot what the name if that thing was called the little plastic bracket type thing.. Let me know if you will please!
Don't beat on the motor the torque converter is gone. It's a recall issue that they have the shaft on the torque converter shears off everything else works fine except you're not getting power transfer to the wheels. By the way your Ford dealer will replace this for free
Eject error. Another 2000s Ford with a buggered up factory fit CD player. It's a shame as they were pretty decent stereos but the CD drawer mechanism is just not strong enough. At least mine broke as it finished ejecting a CD, usually they give up when you try to eject it and you either have to sacrifice a CD or pull the unit to pieces to get it out. Oddly the multi player units seem to be a bit better than the single disc units, but only slightly. That's why so many Ford products have replacement stereos or no stereo at all in them...
gosportjamie I just didn't want to hear it continue to click. Hence why i punched it. That always worked for our explorer.
Can confirm, my 2003 expedition's 6CD changer is fuuuuuucked
Fords are not the only vehicles with problematic 6 disc changers. The CD player broke in our 2005 Sequoia, so RIP to my Kelly Clarkson and John Rich discs. The single disc player in my 03 F350 broke just before the engine blew, but at least it let me take the disc out, otherwise I would've lost George Strait as well. I'm not sure my sister has quite forgiven me of that. My friend's 05 Honda Odyssey's CD changer broke as well, but at least it also had the DVD player. Maybe that's why the 6 disc changers went out of fassion after circa 2007.
Our 2000s ford cd player still works
Didn't Fords come with Pioneer starios?
38 bucks for a tank of gas. Up here in Canada that sane thank would be 100 .. I gotta get the fuck out of this socialist country ...
How can leave a 2006 Van With a good quantity of optionals in a junkyard?
If someone have a bit of time and passion, he can bring it back like it was brand new
The transmission is probably fine. It's the torque converter that fails on these. Factory recall. Get a new one for free. Then you have a perfectly good van. That is assuming the coolant didn't leak into the trans and the owner ignored it till it failed.
@@survivor030406 It was out of oil.
every ford freestar trans goes out
The big question is though, does the Nissan Quest have cool AC like the Ford Freestar?
What's the difference between the Ford Freestar and the Ford Windstar?
I was thinking the same thing. See more of the Windstars When I see them lol.
Windstar was first generation FWD minivan based on the Taurus/Sable. Windstar then renamed Freestar mid-cycle was second generation FWD minivan on it's own platform.
Same vehicle new name. Not sure the real reason. The v6 is a little bigger, the transmission is different also. My 2000 windstar has the 3.8l v6 and doesn't have the recall problem on the trans that the early to mid 2000. freestars did. The transmission can get water into it somehow if the recall kit isn't installed.
The fact that they both are a piece of crap
Sold a 2003 windstar with over 300,000 miles and I still see it on the road.. rusted but running LOL.
That radio does that everytime you open the door for a minute. You are hitting something that has nothing wrong with it
I got one of these for free from my parents who didn't want it anymore. I've put a decent amount of work into it and it's great for what we use it for.
Nazareth - messing with a son of a bitch. Watch u got against rock and roll... lol
The second craziest person besides the person that bought a new one is the person that buys a USED one. I'd rather give a few hundred dollars to a stranger or let it blow out the window before I'd try to live the rest of my life knowing I paid for one of these prunes.
...hey Jay...love your 'regulation' gas container...4:16...heh heh heh
Angry grandpas old van
Have a 2004 that still running. You should of kept listening to Hair of the Dog - Nazareth on 101.1 instead of that other garbage.
Cant play copywritten music on youtube. So I cant stay on one station for long anyway
I have a 2006 with 315k and am trying to keep it alive. Thanks for the videos.
The irony is my girl just bought a nissan quest. and neither are running at the moment. But I have high hopes.
The song in car is im the one
I'm still driving my 05 Ford Freestar 4.2 L
not surprising mine did the same thing.... those vans suck!!!!
Damn Jay , rev the shit outta that ole girl. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How does the radio sound "cool garbage"
- jay smart
i really like that instrument cluster on the freestar
The big problem with all of them is the torque converter medal shavings cloging up the trans cooler built into the radiator. Will a ford dealer look at that...... no!
Turn on closed captions at 2:15 and it says applause
Most bps has been mostly been bought out by Conoco Phillips
May need a battery. That RPM dropped fast when you disconnected. But, no trans is the deal breaker. Might be losing fluid. When you put fluid in it I'll bet the stick comes up black, Nuclear meltdown.
Ford's 6 disk players from the early 2000s broke more than they worked 😂😂
Agreed. You should never put a cd you valued in that thing for sure haha
And that thing is an early 2010s model of CD changer
Those are bad for tranny issues, and I'm sure flat towing it didn't help. My fathers had 2. First one he never took care of and it went to pieces the started running bad... at which point he just parked it. He has another now that's in decent shape, but has a slight miss. He's planning to take it to Texas in 2 months. 5000 mile round trip. I think that would be worth putting a trans in if you're in the rust belt...
I mean, so many people hate them but I dont know why.
Love how old cars let you push the limiter all you want
Do you still have the Ford Freestar van?
The treatment is not toes the E brake is probably on
I own a 2005 Freestar SEL. It's not a bad car once you figure out the quirks and boy does that car have them. One the major issues with this car is they put the computer and coil right under the windshield. As the rubber ages, that tends to leak and will eventually cause all sorts of problems like with the transmission, abs, and engine of course. Water and electricity simply don't mix. So I had to replace my computer, coil and of course keys at a 110k. But I didn't just replace these items for this known problem. I sealed up every opening along the cowl and used tin foil over the coils and created a shield for the computer and computer harness. Every few years I take off the cowl cover and check the seals out to make sure it's still ok. The only other major trouble I had was with the alternator, ball joints and tie rods. Oddly something rattles when it's on an incline. Otherwise it's been a very reliable. But, I also can see why Ford doesn't make minivans anymore. My 2010 Chrysler town and country is easier and cheaper to work on. Rides better to boot. But that 4.2l V6 while truly gutless just doesn't seem to die (fingers crossed of course!)
