I want to hook up the Clarity M Stereo via the optical port of the X3. Does the x3 play the pc audio over the speakers and at the same time output the digital signal over the optical out? Or is it on or the other? Hope it does both!
Geekanoids getting the unit in tomorrow, i read it sends stereo mix through spdif as well as play over the speakerouts simultaneously. Checking it tomorrow 😉
Geekanoids i got the unit in, connected it and i can confirm that in Direct Mode of SB command the speakers are playing and that the spdif is outputting the full digital signal to my Clarity M Stereo simultaneously. One important side note the output must be set to 24 bits or 16 bits 48khz (44.1 is no option on the SB X3) if you set it to 32 bits or 24 / 192khz the clarity m will not display any readout, because it maxes at 24/96khz
Impressive DAC, cool & simple design as well. I find it funny that when some people buy a DAC & complain about the sound they usually have rather cheap headphones. To get the true sound experience they should have at least purchased a good set of mid ranged headphones & not ones from the bargain bin.
Hi Thanks for the good video. I have a set of Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro 250ohm. I do mostly gaming and music while working. I currently have to decide between the FiiO K3 Type-C USB DAC Headphone Amp or this Creative Sound Blaster X3 as they are in the Same price bracket. Do you have any suggestions?
Another great video. I have used Creative stuff before and as you say they are quality through and through. The signature sound of the Soundblaster is just so good. In fact I use a creative external sound card on my laptop. I take it this doesn’t work with wireless headphones?
When using wireless audio, a DAC doesn't really have a use. Just get a good bluetooth dongle or bluetooth transmitter. With the latter option you can also have support for a higher codec like aptX LL. They are like 30 bucks.

Really sorry I no longer have this to check.

Very true, that makes all the difference.

I was very impressed with this.
Thanks for covering this. What pair(s) of headphones and what content did you use to test this?
Sennheiser HD599 and Audio Technica M50X, lots of different genres of music.

It would work if you used in conjunction with something like AirFly, but that might result in a drop in overall quality.

Can it connect to 2.0 system?
Sorry I no longer have this to check.
