Combine an aggressive percussion undercurrent along with powerful riffs, clapping, stomping, and other noisy effects, and you have a marvelous extravaganza sure to be enjoyed by players and listeners alike! A slower, yet emotionally-charged middle section provides contrast before a Celtic-influenced final segment drives to a rhythmic and dynamic finish.

i’m sure no one will see this, but wow. this song is absolutely beautiful. because of corona and the mess it’s causing, we won’t be playing this for our band concert this spring. i’m really disappointed, considering this is probably my favorite band song i’ve ever played. i love this and i’m so glad i have the opportunity to listen to it over and over again.
I was the one who commissioned this piece for my high school band. We had him do this for our school's 100th anniversary of it's band program. We really enjoyed!
I’m playing it currently
Me too
We just started this piece in my highschool band, I got the spot for the Flute solo around measure 99, it really hits different once you do it then later the entire band joins in.
@@spikezaharr3639 Auditioning for the flute solo 🤞🤞
Being a percussionist, I love this piece. We get a sweet drum solo which is my favorite part
YESSSSS
Agreed
Quad City Stomp is one of my favorite pieces from high school band.
4:03
I played this about 6 years ago in high school on flute.
When the bass came sweeping in at 127, it just blew me away.
The entire band was swaying in the rhythm, being carried by the bass, just swept away in their slow and heavy current. Then the saxes came in and added more motion to the current, and the momentum picked up. Finally, the flutes and upper instruments jumped in and added the eddy-currents and waves, and we were off, whisked away down the river.
You ever been white-water rafting, going really fast? And it is amazing? You can feel the deep current of the river pushing your raft, and your feel the eddies and the waves and froth splashing your face? This is the stuff I'm reminded of.
Remember the scene from The Hobbit, when the dwarves escape down the river in the barrels? I flashback to that juxtaposed on top of my experiences rafting, every time I hear this or play it.
I love this song.
Hello, current highschooler and also playing flute and I agree it's such a beautiful song and honestly fun to play

The Fortissimo part of the celtic melody can only be properly experienced in person. One of my favorite songs my band has played.
Agreed as I'm currently playing this piece in band.
My grade 9 band did this (omg i cant believe it) 3 years ago... I so agree that this piece cant truly be understood unless its being listened to live or played live. I was playing tenor sax but had the clarinet 1 Celtic line played up the octave. I love it so much !
Definitely agree. My 8th grade band was gonna play this for clinic but it got canceled due to the virus :(
Sammmee, I love this one and I am serious about getting that flute solo

Especially at 127. Im playing this and it gives me the chills listening to the brass and low woodwinds
We played this in a festival last week and it's so cool to listen to. The director we played this with even brought in a trash can for a percussion effect. It was a lot of fun to play altogether in a large group

My band director made us play this for a concert as punishment for talking too much in class while she was setting the set list in middle school and we practiced so hard we ended up killing it. Thank you Mrs. Fitz 🫡
Playing this soon for nationals. It sounds amazing all put together.
I played this song in Junior High, I'ma flutist (Flute player), so I had the melody on most of the parts and this was THE SONG that sounded amazing!!! We didn't sound as good as the people here but we were pretty close! Like and reply if you were in my band or saw us play! CMSS Band for life! We're gonna miss you Ms. Ninoyu!
