I've never had it out. I probably should. I was "told" it's not necessary to pull it out unless the motor was blown up. It's there to catch big stuff. I don't know if that's true or not but I have been curious if there is anything it. I guess it would catch your clutch too if that started coming apart.
Yes. A small one on that side. You see it if you look up through the oil plug.
