I love it, the tied up ponytail, white t-shirt tucked into jeans, the punk drum kit with no triggers, the fucking tambourine half way through. It’s like Deafheaven exist purely to annoy the metal elitists and I’m all for it.
I doubt metal elitists will be upset with this music just because of his hairstyle.... I am sure not.
@@Koskicat you'd be surprised lol. metal elitists are a different breed, man
T-shirts tucked into jeans is metal tho
Real metal elitists are very cool people. They love New Wave and Goth as well. So I cross over to their camp and they cross over to mine. I get what you mean, though. I think you mean the bros who think that black metal should strictly be black metal. No cocktails allowed. deafheaven is a cocktail.
maybe he IS using triggers and just uses fucked up sound files lol that would be EXTRA fuck you righjt there
Just one show, just once, I want them all in corpse paint.
Deafheaven and Jon Sudano - a collision of two beautiful worlds
Please cover Deafheaven

jon i see your comments everywhere i go on yt you have a great taste in music man
That drumming is everything.
Saw them perform yesterday and that guy is a machine. Incredibly impressed by DH live.
omg who cares devildog621
devildog621, from a fellow former Marine and drummer, just stop being a Teufel and let it happen haha. He def is rushing, but maybe it's intentional? Seen these guys live, and the drummer is pretty rock solid.
Fuck yeah.
He has a solid technique and he nails it in every live performance. But he's doing kinda unnecessary fills since New Bermuda. I can't get this.
"You got your Black Metal in my Mogwai!" "Well, YOU got your Post Rock in my Bathory!""And WHO spilled the Siamese Dream all over the place?!!"
mmm hummer
Matt Griffin taking a slowdive in to Burzum
If it ain't Burzum it's bullpucky.
hahahahahahahaha
Not sure what you guys are talking about, but if you could fill me in that would be great
The songs of deafheaven are like films, they have bitter, happy, gloomy, hopeful moments in
Always a journey! Reminds me of Rosetta in that sense. I love both bands
One song could be an entire life’s worth of emotion
I've said this before, but whoever sets up and mixes/masters the audio for these videos needs a 100x raise. Perfection.
I'm guessing they rehearse with a mixer and take it with them when they go on tour or for recording live videos. That's the best way they can get their mix with only having to make little adjustments for the venue.
it sounds so delicious
When you bring your black metal vocalist friend to your post-rock rehearsal
Lmao
100% accurate
Drums are pretty black metal too tbh
😂😂😂
When your black metal vocalist is just a screamo vocalist
You know it's gonna be awesome when a group of indie/hipsterish/regular bunch of guys start to play raw black metal, and you know it's gonna be even more awesome when the black metal singer takes a tambourine.
Seriously, what a great trip!
It's not raw black metal though
You got it backwards these riffs are horrible and not black metal at all just because he does harsh vocals does not make it black metal. Black Metal doesn't have to be evil, or negative, but at least METAL. This is just prog rock
@@glowingdawn9179 ... what is even remotely prog rock about this? this doesn't sound anything like Yes, Genesis, or any prog rock band I've ever heard
@@robbiej2734 early opeth though. The song is actually proggy
Listen to the band: "ne obliviscaris", watch the live version of: and plague flowers the kaleidoscope. Hipsters doing symphonic death metal with a violin. lol. They're another one of my fav bands, besides Deafheaven.
welp. that was an entire experience. deafheaven is in top form and Audiotree is too. perfect capture of a stunning piece. damn
Hey Darrien
hey
We love your taste in music and Fender mustangs we think.
Knightingale thanks
Darrien Day I saw your Profile picture, and thought you were Tosin Abasi (or how ever you spell his name)
shoutout to cameraman, doing hanheld for 12 minutes is a great job btw
satrio kinanthi a true unsung hero
The audio mix...so good!
damn it sounds even better than the CD
its audiotree!
I like it too. I like that the vocals are a little lower in the mix. My main complaint of some of their other tracks is that the vocals are too obtrusive for the overall feel. If they were going for black metal I’d sort of get it but over shoegaze sounds the vocals should evoke an emotional feel not an abrasive one. Just my opinion. I’m sure others will vary.
You can’t hear dans left crash, other than that 100%
@@zbridgjpxupzm I actually like the guitar tone a little bit more on this than on the CD, it feels a little more "alive" especially on some of the single-note parts.
“Computer, generate the most perfect snare sound ever.”
Error: Could not generate better snare sound than this
C'mon, everyone knows snare perfection was already achieved on "St. Anger".
Fucking love the organic kick sound too!
The drums in general sound amazing
i grew up with radiohead, sigur ros, interpol and slowdive, but god, this is the best song i ever heard in my life. thanks audiotree!
I'm in a similar boat, though I grew up with Beatles, NuMetal and the sort. But I get the feel you're talking about. There's something very sincere about the performances that Radiohead, Sigur Ros put out and same can be said about Deafheaven. I need to check out Interpol and Slowdive.
If you have not checked out Karnivool, I highly suggest it. Go from Sound Awake ---> Asymmetry ---> Themata
I was a Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, Interpol, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine kind of human who learned about metal in my 20s and this stuff is right in my wheelhouse.
@@MaterDolorumOraProNobismy bloody valentine, the cure, jajajajajajajajak where 😠
you grow up with warcraft i think
@@MFMOODD warkraft, yeees, but it wasn't influence by those bands , i refered about that and joking too ,honey.
how does this sound so good? props to audiotree and deafheaven
over dubs my friend
@@DrMurdercock do they overdub though? I definitely thought these were all simply floor recordings. Some of the vocals in some performances are awful but you can't fault an engineer for that
cause they don't wear make up :)
@@DrMurdercock maybe... saw them in Brussels and Antwerp (both venues have killer engineers) and sounded quite on par with this.
@@DrMurdercock What the hell are you talking about? You can't overdub a live performance.
The snare sound is heaven.
All drums sond fantasic on this live record.
Deafheaven **badam tss**
This just became my new favorite band, and I don't know a single word of the song.
Well, you dont need to hear audibly the lyrics
You should check 'em out sometime. George is great lyricist!
that drumming man... those last 3 minutes are just heavenly
The silence that follows listening to this is one of the finest moments of tranquility.
Shiv's melody at 5:25....absolute fucking beauty. I never realized how many awesome melodies Shiv contributed to this new album, same thing with on the song Worthless Animal.
Not to be dramatic or anything but this is some of the best live footage I've ever seen
I don't always listen to Deafheaven, but when I do, so does my neighbours.
Cliché comment
4:28 drops me into heaven every god damn time. Honeycomb is such an incredible song.
Such a fantastic song
that transition from black metal to 90's pop punk/emo is really something
Glint, honey comb, and canary yellow for me.
most beautiful piece of music ever
The drummer is fucking cookin’ back there!
Awesome performance by all involved.
I love watching these videos!
One of the greatest songs ever written. Period.
I love how deafheaven have brought a sublime level to heavy metal
The world needs more Deafheaven live videos like this. If you can get them to do this again. Can you have them do Unrequited, or Luna?? This was a treat for the eyes, ears, and soul.
Genos Wovlehart luna would be a trip
Let me just casually throw "The Pecan Tree" in the mix.
Music is outstanding! And the mix? Unbelieveble...
11:06 that bass warms my soul every time
Damn you're right. I just noticed the bass
I need TP for my bunghole !!!
The quality is superb and so is the song. The soundtrack to this summer.
never saw it coming that someone would "nominate" deafheaven a summer-track ahaha

It sounds black metal, yet the lyrics aren't about satan or evil, they are utter poetry. I feel like there should be a Deafheaven vs Bosse De Nage, Good vs Evil. One group sings about what's wrong with the world, screaming shoegazy poetry, and the other writes about turning girls into horses and then pissing on them, both are incredible.
Drummer wearing a drab majesty T-shirt. I love it.
They tour with em, saw drab open up for them last month.
Right. They were in Phoenix and I missed them damn it.
I saw them open for Deafheaven and I was extremely confused by them, and I listen to some pretty retarded music.
@@TC-lk2ev they're basically an 80s throwback band, like if The Cure and Duran Duran had a baby. I dig their shit, check out their Audiotree performance of Not Just a Name, real good shit.
@@MasDouc Yeah man I got what they were going for, they just weren't for me. Glad you dig them though
Deafheaven was love at first listen.
This band definitely has its haters, I saw them live at Roadburn and they were amazing. You can tell they are really giving it all and pouring their souls into what they do. Respect :)
It’s like a melodic, Melody of everything you have ever wanted to hear. It’s like a religious experience. 🤯🤯🤯
that drummer is a machine bro, black metal with a kit like that? i love this band man
The drummer wearing a Drab Majesty shirt has officially made my love for this band astonishingly high alone. With this being said, Deafheaven was the VERY FIRST harsh vocal-ed band I ever heard. I first listened to them at 12 years old and I am now 17, 5 years of corrupt human love that I will never forget!!! I now do harsh vocals myself and I thank George Clark for the journey he inspired me to go into.
best art metal band of the last 4000 years inshallah
dude this music is 100% halal
Saw them live over the summer. Literally a life-changing experience.
Chris Greely really? I’m seeing them for the first time with Gojira and all them witches in June! So excited
Yes. Closed my eyes and felt the music and randomly had tears running down my eyes....
In 2011 my son and I went to see Russian Circles in a great small venue in Denton TX called Rubber Gloves. The opening band was... Deafheaven and they shocked the fuck out of us. Still fans today. We saw the play live again a couple of months ago.
Deafheaven will forever be my favorite band. Started listening almost 4 years ago, just saw them live a couple weeks ago. Mindblowing experience
Seeing them live was so fucking powerful, the ambience was so strong I had tears running down my eyes. I love these dudes.
I saw Deafheaven in concert in Tampa on March 22. A surreal experience that I can't wait to feel again.
Performing Covid concerts before it was cool.
Shiv's guitar is bad ass, havent seen one like that before.. reminds me of the 90s Jackson custom shop they used to make back in the day
This is my favorite song from the album
Fell in love with deafheaven when I heard this song for the first time.
Better mix than the album.
This band is absolutely flawless. What a performance. And this mix/production is excellent.
It was interesting to see them on a stage like this, with a different vibe than that of their concerts. The on-stage camera must be a strange thing to interact with.
yeah! george is much more theatrical live. but this environment is much more serene. fits the song nicely.
play the last three minutes as they lower me into my grave
Haha! Precise
Hahaha I had to come back to this comment the following day and say once more that, there is no more of an accurate statement for a song as then described by you in this comment good sir.☝️
A whole ass mood
George looking like Shawn Michaels about to do a promo
Well, I guess you could say he gave us some sweet chin music in this video
Jessica A 😎👉🏻👉🏻
🤣
You really just nailed it.
Hahaha, George Clarke is HBK? It’s true, it’s damn true!
Just saw these guys open for Coheed and I've been obsessed ever since...I think the whole venue forgot who we were even there to see in the moment
Love their sound, grew up on metal and hardcore and always wanted to see more bands take this direction, blows me away
Human music. I like it.
👍👍👍
Jerry!
Wow wow wow audiotree never dissapoint
This song is a masterpiece!
Love this one, musically, the ambiance, the tension and relieve, the sound mixing. Thanks everyone.
They made such weird stylistic decisions but somehow they all work extraordinarily well.
This is still as amazing as ever.
Probably one of the best live sessions I've ever seen.
One of the albums that I could listen without skipping
Such a cool, little old autidorium. Very Deafheaven-y.
I keep coming back to this. MORE DEAFHEAVEN PLEASE.
From all the music channels I follow, Audiotree may have the best mixing. Along with Sideshow Alley, which is less complex to edit, given the acoustic vibes. But wow, this video is flawless.
👥👍👍
@@snowindafunboots4369 KEXP!
Saw them live last week. They were awesome. The end of this always reminds me of Hummer by Smashing Pumpkins. Great band.
Superb audio quality. Amazing mix.
Starting from 8:02 the sound become so sweet.
I really love the part 9:01 up to the end. It's so beautiful and I really don't want the sound to end.
I hope these guys know how good they are
I never thought they'd top Sunbather but holy shit, they did. This is the sound. Wow.
These skinny jean wearing shoegazers are one of my favorite bands, just love the spin on the black metal style.
There’s something about this video that gives me cozy vibes.

Lucky to have seen these guys a few times live, they never disappoint!
This audio mix is outstanding. Thank you.
I went to high school with Shiv and Dan. Didn’t know Shiv well, but Dan was always truly class and I got to watch him being this dorky 13 year old turn into this total monster drummer. Glad they’ve been successful, great dudes.
5:00 and suddenly, Dinosaur Jr.
Nahhh
Rémi Warin fuck yeah I’m glad I’m not the only one who hears J Mascis in this solo
Yahhh
Incredible performance and equally incredibly recording quality. Great video.
Good turnout
Haha hey it’s quarantine approved now!
I don't know if I like this, but I also don't know if I don't like it either. I'm gonna have to listen to these guys a bunch more to figure it out for sure, but either way, they're interesting and that's awesome.
I've decided, I like it. it's awesome
based
every time i find a new artist/band and they peak my interest but i can't figure out whether or not i like them, without fail i end up loving them once it clicks lmao
These guys I swear. Divine inspiration. I have and still write, some riffs that are Deafheavenesque, even before I knew they existed. These are God Riffs. Maybe Liturgy can chime in on that
Kerry McCoy!! God damn you guitar God, the outtro is just so beautifully sounding, especially recorded in this venue it's the best adudiotree track on UA-cam in my opinion
THIS IS EPIC!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!! THEY ARE CONSTANTLY REINVENTING THE GENRE....
That drummer is sick. This band is a perfect blend.
Completely agree!
sounds beautiful
Of course this performance is great, but beyond that, I wanted to say that I'm deeply grateful for all of the music that Deafheaven have put out. Regardless of how niche they are or who has unflattering opinions of them, I want them to know that by them doing what they do, they have made me happier and more fulfilled. I strongly suspect, regardless what little I know about them as people, that they would very sincerely like to hear that.
@@whatshumor1 I just turned 54
Audiotree are the GOAT at sound engineering
Absolutely supreme performance from one of the best bands out there right now. Fuckin stunning!
I must have watched this video 50+ times in the 5 years its been on UA-cam and I've only just noticed that none of them are wearing in-ear monitors. To be this tight without a click is mind-blowing.
Un-fucking-real. I keep coming back to this video. It sounds better than the record. You can hear the huge room but every little sound remains crystal clear. I could listen to the ride and toms all day. The Audiotree team clearly gets it. I can't wait to check out their other sessions.
I also appreciate the band's down-to-earth performance style. Their music - and the new album in particular - conjure up such soaring, diverse emotions for me that it's surreal to be reminded that they are, in fact, just five dudes in a rock band. No bullshit here.
What a wonderful recording. Well done, Audiotree.
Awesome Performance by Deafheaven
Amazing! Beautiful!!! Again please!
I just love this song so much, and playing in that auditorium church thingy-place makes it so much more blissful to listen to! Keep up the awsomnesss Kerry!
Mix is superb and so is the song. Go DFHVN!
So good, Thankyou for this recording. Song is a masterpiece
4:58 This part makes me smile the whole time. I could live inside this part and be happy. This is the best song i've heard in a long time
deafheaven rules forever. thanks for this magik!!
Shout out to the drummer wearing a Drab Majesty shirt.
