I made this part of a bigger Dresden weekend and include a full days hike of 17 km in the surrounding trails. So much more amazing things to see along the immediate trails and Maulerweg.
@@NearFromHome, I film my trips also but for my own use and my family. I love the quality of your videos. What camera / software do you use if you do not mind me asking? my cheesy films can be found on youtube as well where you can note my issues of comparative quality. I generally play my own music as background sounds. in my Bastei video, seemingly my audio was stripped off...not sure why it was not copyrighted. 100% Especially since it’s a pretty easy and well laid out hike, I think getting there for sunset or sunrise is very doable and would have some amazing views of the river.
Hey! I’m going to Dresden for 3 nights this July! I have 1 day for exploring Dresden, 1 for Berlin, and 1 free day. Do you recommend going to Saxon Switzerland, or would I be better off going to different cities or towns nearby. I love nature, but for some reason I’m not being wowed by the photos I’m seeing of the park
Oh man, if you’ve got an extra day somewhere near Dresden or Berlin AND you are there during the summer then checkout our Venice of Germany in Spreewald video and our Swimming with Penguins video as well. That area only an hour from Berlin is my absolute favourite!!
If your child is used to walks and easy hikes, I would guess this wouldn’t be too hard. Please take this with a grain of salt, as I do not have children 😅
Great video, do you remember in which month you were there? I wanna go in the middle of december but I'm afraid the forest is too ugly then and everything is just grey and sad
The Saxische Schweiz is on my alltime bucket list due to a famous rock climber I met nearly 70 years ago--Oliver Perry-Smith. He was a founder of the famous (infamous?) climbing club, the Schwarze Kamin, back in the era around 1910. Their flag that they placed atop the spires after a new ascent was a black flag with a death head symbol. Whilst I was in Germany in my years of serving in the US Army during the early 1960's, this was still Communist East Germany and therefore, inaccessible to me. Thanks for the access information!
It seems you took the direct (wrong :-) way from rathen to the bastei. You should have used the backdoor way through the "schwedenlöcher", where the stairs lead through narrow gorges between the sand stone formations. Unfortunatly you missed the best part.
The Bastei is often overcrowded and overrated. There are so many, less popular hikes in Saxon Switzerland which sometimes let you experience the rock formations more. My favorite (yet sometimes also busy) tour is to the Schrammsteine.
Amazing video, very clear instructions and very engaging☺️
Thank you!
I just took this hike last week. Breathtaking. I'm glad I watched your video first - it was very helpful in finding the trail/stairs.
:D
Very nice thanks for sharing. I have a Monday in Dresden when museums are closed. I think I will do this after seeing this😊
perfect!

That's so cool! We wanted to do something similar, but just didn't have time with all the filming.

Pretty cool trip! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful scenery
Thanks! I'm sure it looks beautiful now in the fall foliage. :D
With that description of walking, now I'm sure why they don't had enemies 🤣🤣
?
Sunrise or sunset are the best moments to visit highlights in this region.

You made this so easy. Thanks.
That's the idea. Glad we were helpful!

@@NearFromHomethanks I’ll check it out! As of rn I think my group and I decided on Leipzig, but I’ll do some research on Spreewall!
Hello, is it easy to get to the top with a 6 years old kid?

@@NearFromHome hahha ok thank you very much 🤪
Great tips🎉
Thanks so much!
Thanks a lot your good guide for Bastei bridge,
Thanks! It’s so cool, we couldn’t not cover it :D
Great vid! What time do you recommend leaving Dresden to complete the trip?
I think we got there around 10:30. I can't remember what time we left. Maybe 9:00?
Awesome trip and great video! Planning my trip there soon. Thanks for the tips. subd your channel.
Thanks so much! :) Glad you found it so helpful!
Great video, I really appreciate how clearly you have mentioned everything. I am planning to go there in coming weekend. Thank you :)
Thanks! That‘s the idea for the channel. Glad you found it helpful! I am sure you‘ll have a nice time!

We were there at the end of October! It might be a bit sad in December.
Stunning
Thank you!
How long does it take to get from Dresden station to Bastie Bridge itself
Maye an hour and a half or two hours
How many hours take go from Dresden to the park? Thanks
I think the train ride was about an hour. From the train station to the park, the walk is perhaps another hour. :)

We'll have to try that out next time we go!
I was here yesterday too bad the Basteibrücke was crowded with tourist. 😫
That's so unfortunate. We got there really early before anybody had arrived.

We will have to check out the Schrammsteine out next time. Luckily, we went in the fall, early in the morning, so it wasn't too crowded.
