    This is one of the best instructional lessons I've ever had on dealing with kicks!
    Also amazing for point sparring tournaments 🙂

    Great video. I’ve used open and closed stance in the opposite of what you did. Not a big deal, I am curious what makes your closed closed. Just a fun nerd thing to think about.
    I need to work on checking kicks. I can’t say I’ve been methodical enough. Nice tips. I can’t wait to try these.

    i would like to add that there are 2 ways of kicking, one is how you do it 2 is how i do it when I lift my leg I always keep my feet in an upward angle above my knee. it means i always kick diagonal upwards if I choose to do a side kick and if you try to hand block a kick from that direction with enough force the kick always win the hand and you always get a hard kick on the body with or without arm in between it stil knocks air out of you. Be away if you try to close a gap by moving in and use your hand to block a kick it will not work vs this method of kicking but you will need to use other ways e.g. kick over or use your leg to block.

    I think this is where now the truth in Okinawan karate applies to kick to the bladder area, meaning on the hip level of the opponent or kicker or below; and not to kick high like to hit the face because one can be easily countered especially one who is very good in kicking defense, like the way it is done in combat Aikido to intercept the kick and tumble the kicker to the ground. Do whatever it takes: scoop the kicking legs, grab it or just parry and go for the other legs, and other ways.

      Yeah, I’ve got 40 years of experience around Martial arts and I’ve never heard this version before. It’s the exact opposite, that most other schools and organizations use.

    I got destroyed in a point sparing match at the tournament because of a kicker at least I took second place in all 😂 but I’m still upset about it lol because why is a black belt only throwing kicks weird but it beat me I guess I need to train a little bit more😂

      Look up training videos by Bill Wallace, the guy was called superfoot back in the day.
      Work on flexibility and training the way he teaches and you’ll beat 90% of the other kickers out there.

    Just move around constantly. It is very difficult to kick a moving target.

    • @possekidxan

      You can move right into a kick thinking you are elusive there are great kickers in the world

    • @trumplostlol3007
      @trumplostlol3007 7 місяців тому

      @@possekidxan No, people target your center line unless it is a round house kick. The only kick that is difficult to see is the front leg kick. Normally, people kick using the hind leg. But moving constantly and in a more random fashion will avoid being kicked easily most of the time. If you have a boxing stance, you are more subject to a kick cause you can only move back and forth. Stand more like a wrestler and move sideways constantly. Also, fake attack constantly. Kicks are powerful, but the kicker will lose balance easily.
