I think Jennifer Jones ist underrated! She was not only one of the most beautiful actresses of her generation, she was also an excellent and talented actress. Her films are now classics. She is now a screen legend, unforgettable as Bernadette, Mme. Bovary, as Jennie or Miss Bake or Han Sujin and many other roles!
Thank you for posting this wonderful hommage for a great woman and actress: Jennifer Jones! Rest in peace, Jennifer, you will live for ever in our hearts!
Such talent and beauty , one of the greatest actress of all time. Duel in the Sun is one of my favorite movies. I think its sadly underrated as one of the great westerns of all time. She made many other films that are such classics but Duel in The Sun stands out for me for some reason.
Obrigado. Parabéns pela postagem.
Wonderful JJ! I saw several of her films but RUBY GENTRY remains my favorite, along with LOVE LETTERS, DUEL IN THE SUN and LOVE IS A MANY-SPLENDORED THING.
I remember watching her on a New York TV channel when I was really young. After viewing your elegant tribute, I guess I'm still enamored after all these years have gone by! This is thanks to you lasbugas.
I saw "Good Morning, Miss Dove" a few days ago. Jennifer is brilliant in it. She was a magnificent actress who was unfairly underrated just because David O. Selznick committed the "crime" of falling in love with her and marry her. (Can you blame him?). She would have succeeded just the same, because she had a lot of talent. She wasn´t only a beautiful face.
I am a fan of Ms. Jones who was a great star of my Parents era. Ambitious she dumped Robert Walker for the most famous man in the movies at that time: David Selznick who treated her as if she were Garbo. Nominated 4 times Song of Bernadette(Oscar) love Letters, Duel In the Sun and Love Is a many splendored Thing, Jennifer worked with Bill Holden, Greg Peck, Joan Fontaine, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, etc. After Selznick died she had several affairs before marrying Norton Simon, a billionaire. Her career was the good news, the bad news is the she had a disastrous relationship with 2 of her 3 children, Michael Walker and Mary Jennifer Selznick who committed suicide.
Jennifer Jones was off the screen for nearly 5 years between A Farewell to Arms and Tender Is The Night. Too long for a major star. David Selzbick was in discussions with Ross Hunter for Jennifer to star in one of Hunter's glamorous sob stories. Hunter had great success with Lana Turner and Susan Hayward in their Hunter films. Jennifer with hr great acting skills and exotic beauty would have been a natural for a Ross Hunter movie. David died and the project with it.
Just watched for the first time, Love is a Many-Spledored Thing and googled Jennifer Jones to find your beautiful tribute to that beautiful woman. Can I ask for the name of that beautiful music which really added to wonderfully to your tribute?
She was. She just didn't star in mega movies like GWTW and A Street Car Named Desire. But she made more movies than VL. Her most notable movies are The Man In The Grey Flannel Suit, The Song of Bernadette, and of course, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. If you Google her name, I'm sure you'll discover that she made many more movies than VL. And I think she was/is a bigger star than VL.
Aleksey T I consider her, Gene Tierney, and Hedy Lamarr to be among the most beautiful women not only in Hollywood but in the world. all three have what I call quiet elegance. It doesn't hurt that they were all great actresses.
Aleksey T We'll agree to disagree. When it comes to style and class, no one comes close to AH. But even she would agree that when it comes to pure beauty, the afore mentioned three are in front of her. I'm a big fan of AH. I thought she should have won the Oscar for My Fair Lady but there was a back lash against her when Julie Andrews didn't get the part of Eliza Doolittle. She also should have won the Oscar as best actress instead of supporting actress for Roman Holiday, one of my favorite films. Peace...
she was lovely, yes, but she abandoned her two small sons and left her husband to be with David o. selznick. she hated the way she looked on film, being of a nervous and anxiety personality which was challenging for selznick, who was also married, and made her his muse. he begged his wife to take him back, as this was a way out of the affair with the childlike actress, but, in the end his wife divorced him and he went on to marry jennifer. they had one child together, a daughter who killed herself by jumping from a high rise building in Los angeles. her first husband, actor david walker drank himself to death because he was devastated about her affair with selznick. he was also under contract with selznick, so it was a double blow. after selznick died she married billionaire Norton simon. was is all worth it in the end?

Beautiful lovely actress
every time she was serving role as foreign female,
the spark bursts from her immediately

Pray for her Saint Bernadette

JENICER JONES ERA LINDA MAS SEU MELHOR PAR.FOI BILIAN HOLDEN EM SUPLJCIO DE JMA SAUDADE
My preferred lady and actress of every time, but Phyllis however was the name of a tragic Greek heroine.
She had one of those faces where she could literally play any race with the right makeup. Such a fascinating lady and so beautiful

David selznick wanted to end the affair but she was too needy and he was afraid what she would do

how come she`s not popular like some Vivien Leigh? her films are even not translated in Russian. Gone to Earth is a masterpiece.

H1delta I agree. there is something sweet and vulnerable about her. I like her more than VL.

ok, they may take their deserved places under the shade of great Audrey Hepburn

I only Know a movie with her : "the Towering Inferno" in 1974
