I was actually kinda shocked at how interesting Dominik was in the rumble match. I loved the vignette that he and Rhea did leading up to the rumble match and he did a great job of nailing his part. He was getting legit heat which is not something I figured would happen for him at any point of his career.
Gunther was the absolute MVP. Maybe the best Royal Rumble performance along with Flair. Him and Cody had such chemistry. That is a feud you can run with for years.
The best Shattered Dreams spot ever. First time it ever made sense that the guys legs were stuck and he didn’t just take them down before getting nutshotted. Gunther was so spent that he literally couldn’t get out of it.
Not at all. Gunther's feet weren't wrapped up in the ropes and he was staring at Cody the whole time anticipating it. He wasn't trapped and looked dumb.
You're not wrong. Hit Row are terrible and I have no idea what has happened to Johnny Gargano 😕 They're obviously waiting for Ciampa to return so they can reform D.I.Y. But this current run is absolutely destroying him
Don't think he wants the hassle of doing tv. He's said he wants to do at least one more public event in the next few years just so he can say he's worked every decade for the last 50 years but he might just want to do a meet and greet or something. He doesn't need the money, he doesn't like dealing with stress, doesn't like traveling and doesn't like most people in person. For me, in fantasy world he'd be Gunther's manager for the next 5 years, and eventually set up a match between Gunther and Roman just because the promo exchange between Corny and Heyman would be gold
Gunther was absolutely incredible by the end he was already my favorite on the show and that made him an even bigger deal and made Cody’s win way more impressive i loved the whole rumble this year
Cody Vs Gunther was probably one of the best final 2 in Rumble history in my opinion. Gunther is going to be the next big thing for sure. He looked amazing. Cody deserved the win for it, but Gunther was just a big a winner.
to me the highlight of the whole PPV was the spot between Ricochet and logan paul that will be remember more then cody wining the mens rumble hands down
He was never even CLOSE to being a title contender before so why now? Oh yes, it is because he is a founder of AEW! EVERYONE knows it. I thank Cody for founding AEW but if I were to choos between Reigns/ Rhodes and Danielson or MJF, then the latter two are the OBVIOUS ones!
I thought bray looked bad ass during the match, but I've got no idea what they're wanting to do with Bray anymore, much more of that shit, he's gonna lose the crowd again.
The Royal Rumble is the perfect match to include picture in picture for. Just have the new entrant pop up in a smaller box in the corner til they hit the ring, especially if the walk way is 10 miles long.
I would like to see a run of Royal Rumbles now where nobody from numbers 1 or 2 (or even 3, 4 and 5) lasts until the end. WWE always makes it out as "doing the unthinkable" when it happens nearly every year.
Yep now people expect number 1 and 2 to last long. It used to be that number 1 and number 2 had no chance of lasting long, and only in very few rumbles they lasted longer which shocked the fans and the commentary made it look shocking too. It just makes the rumble look fake af if every year number 1 and 2 lasted for most of the match. And it also makes the wrestlers not look impressive if so many others have done it
WWE really dropped the ball by not having Elias enter the Royal Rumble, getting eliminated, going backstage and shaving his beard off to re-enter as Ezekiel
Garganos size was on full display with all of these Super heavyweights who were in the ring with Gargano - Gunther- Strowman- Sheamus - McIntyre- Lesnar- Omos- Otis- Lashley & Karrion Kross are all full fledged Heavyweights
@@YeTism sammi was the star no doubt kind of close to when Bryan turned on Bray and the crowd went nuts but Gunther and Ripley bust they ass in that Rumble
Pat McAfee on commentary was great. It was also revealed he was a surprise and got there within 20 minutes before the show started and nobody told Cole or Graves about it. The RR match itself had an obvious outcome, but how they got to it out of the final 2 was what made it worth it.
I saw Cody at a Fan event in 2015 before WM31, when he was active as Stardust. He lived that gimmick and was such a gentlemen to myself and my wife. He has always taken risks, even if he personally doesn't believe in something, and I'm glad to see he is finally getting the chance he deserves. They missed a huge opportunity not doing this during his 'dashing' days, his character then should have been pushed more but the title scene was filled with more personalities.
Yup met him as “undashing” at a grocery store signing back when I was like 8 after WM27 and he was done with the signing in the back leaving, still met up with me in the back, lived the gimmick was as rude as you could be to a 8 year old while still making it a good memory, took a picture, my favorite experience meeting a wrestler.
Honestly, I knew Cody was going to win, I want cody to have the title run. It will be great to have a believable baby face with a real heart warming story. But God damn did I want Gunther to eliminate him
Only just watched this yesterday. But yeah match was great but I felt done after the men's RR lol. Loved Edge coming back his pop was about as big as last time, but I was a little annoyed he got eliminated so quickly. My favourite part was Booker T coming out, and doing his thing, and you could tell he was gonna get thrown out immediately. My mvp's of this match were Gunther, Sheamus, Drew, Cody, Seth. And an honorable mention to Richochet, and Logan Paul. Their spot was insane.
This was an awesome Rumble. Satisfying stories honored by Seth and Cody, Bobby and Brock, Gunther and Sheamus, Edge and the Judgement Day, and was high quality throughout most the bout. Loved the Gunther/Brock stare down. Still hoping for that at WM.
I'm pretty sure mcafee worked without a script. he didn't know who chad gable was, he made numerous mentions of the ridiculous banger bros, calling dominic a "prison bitch", actually saying "suplex city BITCH", stuff like "he's a hole of an ass", among other things. he elevated the already brilliant match imo. because the other 2 announcer are boring when they can't play off of mcafee
I love wrestling fans! One minute, they complain about the Royal Rumble relying on talent of the past; then they complain about the Royal Rumble NOT having too many "surprises". Glad both Rumbles focused solely on WWE talent of today.
You don't say? I, for one, was never fond of the Rumble surprises - always wanted the Rumbles to continue to cultivate the stars the WWE has - such as Gunther, for example.
The way the volume slightly dips at 2:18 when JC mentions Gargano is SO FUNNY, because I know it's because he's fully facepalming which is muffling his voice
I thought I would never see Dominik get any kind of reaction from a crowd but this heel turn with the Judgement Day and Rhea Ripley being paired as his girlfriend has done some stuff for him. I love how even he is more over than Johnny same face Gargano. Ricochet isn't a good promo but even Ricochet has something over Gargano in my eyes
I loved how in both rumbles, it felt like anyone in the final 4 could legitimately win the match. I would have LOVED for Gunter to go wire to wire as the undefeated IC champ going in to Mania, but glad they did the similar push on Rhea.
Karrion Kross must have been thinking it was back to his WWE debut: a quickie non-match match -- 02/16/15 // about a minute, thirty seconds // bell never clanged // The Ascension v Darren Young and Kevin Kross -- Titus O'Neil entered at the one minute mark to assist Young. Kross was tossed outta the ring battle royale-like by The Ascension after 30 seconds.
I can't help but feel they missed out on Cody getting an even bigger pop. First by announcing he will be in the rumble instead of keeping it a secret and secondly placing him at 30 instead of 29 or 28 because at 30 you know he's definitely next so again the surprise is ruined.
Give Gunther all the flowers! So impressed and excited to see him last the match. Add to the fact he's surrounded by other solid wrestlers who won't make him look dumb
During their mass firings have anybody who they brought back gotten over? The only one I thought would do something was Karrion Kross. But they seem to be burying him.
Your first mistake was going on social media. Knuckle draggers there will say whatever BS to get attention. That means when you know it was well reciefved, you go on and on about how bad it was.
For anyone who knows Asuka's pre WWE wrestling days it was truly epic seeing her come back in her old look. Gunther just a solid iron man performance and I'd have been happier with him winning than Mid Card Cody.
It was a great match especially the shocking quick exits of lesnar lashley and edge and ofc Gunther and Sheamus put on great shows and I can’t wait to here about Jim’s thoughts on the rest of the show and where to go with Sami see if we are thinking alike
From south Texas , and it's been super cold for Texas last year and this year, today is around 40 degrees all day so yes, it was and is cold in San Antonio while the Royal rumble was goin on .
I really enjoyed the Men's, Royal Rumble. Yes, it lacked some major surprises but it made an even bigger star out of Gunther. Letting him be the Iron-man and runner-up was the right choice. Cody was never in doubt of winning but they made him work for it. The final two showdown was worth watching the match on its own. We need Cody/Gunther in the future as well as Gunther/Brock. Ricochet and Logan Paul had an insane spot and Logan Paul continues to prove he's better than most talent out there. I like that they made Brock's time in the Rumble short and set up match three with him and Lashley. Pat McAfee also helped make the entire show entertaining.

If he had a better physique he’d actually be pretty good. One of those chickenshit heels thats fun to hate on
I was actually kinda shocked at how interesting Dominik was in the rumble match. I loved the vignette that he and Rhea did leading up to the rumble match and he did a great job of nailing his part. He was getting legit heat which is not something I figured would happen for him at any point of his career.
Best line of the entire segment:
"It's fucking January!" Lol
The Logan Paul/Ricochet spot was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. Fantastic Royal Rumble match.
I honestly felt like I was in a movie IDIOCRACY when it unfolded.
Looked cool. Wholly nonsensical though in the context of a match
Yeah that moment had some Edge/Matt Hardy TLC vibes to it.
@@darthroden was Jeff not Matt.
it was staged idiotic crap. Hey lets jump into each other!
Gunther was the absolute MVP. Maybe the best Royal Rumble performance along with Flair. Him and Cody had such chemistry. That is a feud you can run with for years.
Yeah Gunther looked good.
It was too obvious that Cody didn't actually make contact with him.
“Darrell Dawkins of the Street Profits” 😂😂😂
As a basketball and wrestling fan, this took me out LOL 😂😂😂😂
Gunther and Cody at the end was fantastic. I personally have hated the rumble for several years now, but this one was pretty good
That Logan and Ricochet spot was crazy. Straight out of a comic book!
Kunf fu Movie Style. Flying around and fight mid air
Yup and the way Logan’s head smacked off the mat looked painful
It was stupid and illogical.

VKM was absolutely right about most of the people he released . except la knight. la knight can be a star
You're not wrong. Hit Row are terrible and I have no idea what has happened to Johnny Gargano 😕 They're obviously waiting for Ciampa to return so they can reform D.I.Y. But this current run is absolutely destroying him
Especially about Bray...he's so overrated.
He didn't release LA Knight, just repackaged him as Maxx Dupri.
He is a star YEAAAAHHHHH
@@m8datmoney837 let me talk to ya....Yeah
This is part of my whole royal rumble experience ..thank you Jim and Brian
This is pure comedy gold. You guy’s takes are hilarious. That judgment day different night comment got me dead as hell 😂😂😂😂
Corney referencing vintage MAD TV at 10:43 on behalf of Otis is comedy gold.🤣👍
Loved the fact that there were almost no surprise returns. The current roster was more than capable enough to carry the entire match.
It does justify HHH signing some people. The roster feels more complete than when Vince was forced to leave.
yet is fucking BORING!!!!
I love that Jim Cornette thinks Mortons is a good restaurant
Jim Cornette - so good at his job. I hope to see him on TV again one day, even if only for a short run.
I thought Kofi was supposed to fall in the chair and stay up but the chair fell 🤣
Gunther was absolutely incredible by the end he was already my favorite on the show and that made him an even bigger deal and made Cody’s win way more impressive i loved the whole rumble this year
Guthers performance in the Rumble was the best i've ever seen, if WWE doesnt push him into a Main Event star than idk whats wrong with the Company.
The Booker T long pants segment back and forth is the best.
Gold stars for both you!!
Jim: the "Lowered Expectations" line.
Brian: the part about Judgement Day going to different night clubs.
Cody Vs Gunther was probably one of the best final 2 in Rumble history in my opinion. Gunther is going to be the next big thing for sure. He looked amazing. Cody deserved the win for it, but Gunther was just a big a winner.
to me the highlight of the whole PPV was the spot between Ricochet and logan paul that will be remember more then cody wining the mens rumble hands down
I am so proud of Cody. He is honest and sincere. I really think that's so rare
I have been looking forward to JC talking about the rumble wayyy more than the rumble itself
“He tossed him off” laughing with tea in hand 🇬🇧😂😂
Them cutting from Brock and Gunther had me heated on the night.
The camera work was awful! I was pissed too they focusing on entrances way too long and missing so much
One of the biggest pops of the night was the very quick Brock Lesnar/Gunther face off.
Yeah like jim said they should have kept the camera on them instead of lashley walking
Ah this video means the Pitch Black match review is a coming soon 😄 Can't wait for this one 👻👹💀🤣🤣
I can't wait! It's going to be hilarious!!!!! 😂😂😂
I thought bray looked bad ass during the match, but I've got no idea what they're wanting to do with Bray anymore, much more of that shit, he's gonna lose the crowd again.
It's up. I listened to it before this. One of Corny's better reviews lol.
@@KOHoxton I couldn't agree more

The Royal Rumble is the perfect match to include picture in picture for. Just have the new entrant pop up in a smaller box in the corner til they hit the ring, especially if the walk way is 10 miles long.
they did that in the 90's you must be a new fan and lose the damn music its so freaking stupid
@@chriszaa2309 I know they did that in the 90s, thats why I am saying it, best match to use it for and it wasnt used.
I would like to see a run of Royal Rumbles now where nobody from numbers 1 or 2 (or even 3, 4 and 5) lasts until the end. WWE always makes it out as "doing the unthinkable" when it happens nearly every year.
I agree, it can be cool having somebody go on a long run during a Rumble but it's also been way overdone.
And it also makes the wrestlers not look impressive if so many others have done it
They need to get Gargano and Ciampa back together as DIY, adds to the tag division and gets better use out of both of them.
WWE really dropped the ball by not having Elias enter the Royal Rumble, getting eliminated, going backstage and shaving his beard off to re-enter as Ezekiel
Garganos size was on full display with all of these Super heavyweights who were in the ring with Gargano - Gunther- Strowman- Sheamus - McIntyre- Lesnar- Omos-
Otis- Lashley & Karrion Kross are all full fledged Heavyweights
Ripley and Gunther were definitely the MVP's of this show
Nah sammi
Sami was the MVP. That ending will be remembered in 20 years time.
@@YeTism sammi was the star no doubt kind of close to when Bryan turned on Bray and the crowd went nuts but Gunther and Ripley bust they ass in that Rumble
When talking about an MVP of the show there is only one and it's Sami
Glad Auska wasn't acting like a stereotypical Asian person from back in the day.
That's. Cool because I was thinking he'd. E cocky or arrogant because he kinda looks like he would but that's cool he's freindly
Honestly, I knew Cody was going to win, I want cody to have the title run. It will be great to have a believable baby face with a real heart warming story. But God damn did I want Gunther to eliminate him
Ngl, the kids were on the edge of their seats and I was pulling hairs, and I was dreading either of them falling tbh.
That spot will make it into the RR montages from now on, I'm telling you
I been waiting on Jim Cornette response to the royal rumble 😂👏🏾💯
Same here lol
@Jean Y If you're talking balancing the two then it should've been 15 current WWE performers and 15 performers from the past amiga.
Weird to say but I'm excited about the future in WWE haven't said that in a while...or felt that way in a while
The way the volume slightly dips at 2:18 when JC mentions Gargano is SO FUNNY, because I know it's because he's fully facepalming which is muffling his voice
I feel like they put Cody at 30 because they are scared he's gonna get hurt again.
I agree. Torn muscles are serious.
I feel like Kofi was supposed to do his whole thing and missed the chair
Yea, Kross needs to find his footing quick. It’s a shame because he was really at his peak in his NXT days.
@@wellyunnoso3087 Kross is Bland without Scarlett take her away and Kross is Bland
Jim was being quite rude, contemptuous, irreverent, and down right disrespectful on these RR clips.....
AND I LOVE IT AS USUAL 😂😂🤣🤣
I can't help but feel they missed out on Cody getting an even bigger pop. First by announcing he will be in the rumble instead of keeping it a secret and secondly placing him at 30 instead of 29 or 28 because at 30 you know he's definitely next so again the surprise is ruined.
Crowd was completely flat when he came out. Edge got a huge pop.
Give Gunther all the flowers! So impressed and excited to see him last the match. Add to the fact he's surrounded by other solid wrestlers who won't make him look dumb
During their mass firings have anybody who they brought back gotten over? The only one I thought would do something was Karrion Kross. But they seem to be burying him.
cody?
@@MarsofAritia Cody wasn't part of the mass firings. Bray Wyatt was and he is over but he hasn't done much.
The hate on social media about this rumble was insane. According to them waaaay too predictable
Your first mistake was going on social media. Knuckle draggers there will say whatever BS to get attention. That means when you know it was well reciefved, you go on and on about how bad it was.
Gunther and Asuka were the stars of the rumble. The commentary was funny as hell.
Asuka spent most of the match on the corner after her 1st minute
For anyone who knows Asuka's pre WWE wrestling days it was truly epic seeing her come back in her old look. Gunther just a solid iron man performance and I'd have been happier with him winning than Mid Card Cody.
The commentary was funny throughout the show in my opinion, especially during the men's title match.
Yeah gargano’s music sounded like it was a sound test in an empty arena. You could here it echo.
It was a great match especially the shocking quick exits of lesnar lashley and edge and ofc Gunther and Sheamus put on great shows and I can’t wait to here about Jim’s thoughts on the rest of the show and where to go with Sami see if we are thinking alike
When Gable and Woods were amateur wrestling I said the exact thing Corny said!
i love Beth's hair at Rumble! looked so cool
From south Texas , and it's been super cold for Texas last year and this year, today is around 40 degrees all day so yes, it was and is cold in San Antonio while the Royal rumble was goin on .
Anyone else think that the picture of Cody looks like Bruce buffer the WCW announcer that used to yell let's get ready to rumble
Michael Buffer was the ring announcer in WCW on Monday Nitro his brother Bruce Buffer is the announcer in UFC
It was funny when Finn Balor tripped when edge was chasing him lol
I am from the United Kingdom, and I did indeed nearly die laughing when Brian said Karrion was tossed off.
This really has me excited for WWE again which is a complete contrast to how I was about this time after the Rumble last year
