Camas Teachers On Strike: Day 6

Camas Schools Superintendent John Anzalone said today that schools will be closed for a seventh day (Thursday, September 7) as negotiators between the District and the Camas Education Association (CEA) continue bargaining.
What we do know:
* CSD has been negotiating the classified staff contract, and they now have a tentative agreement.
* CEA is backing away from salary increases and pushing harder for smaller class sizes.
* CEA wanted the COLA promises in the last contract to continue into the new contract.
* CSD’s last public offer was for a 5.7% COLA.
* An NEA representative joined local teachers to rally the union members.

Contrary to other news reports, the CEA does not have a tentative agreement at this time.
