The series is dead, but it at least died with the grace of an angel. You can't sling mud at the franchise. The worst you can say is that X's graphics aren't great or that GP Legend and Climax aren't the F-Zero titles people wanted. But *every* F-Zero game is master class, hardware pushing racing in their own respective rights. There is no mediocre or bad F-Zero. Hardly even a dated F-Zero.There's no lame practices attached to any entry that sullies the experience. Any compromises were negligible and made up for elsewhere in the name of excessive performance, content, and speed. Like WipEout, this is just a pristine series of wholesome games. The Blue Falcon sits in a hangar somewhere just glistening and that's a good takeaway from all this. ;)
The music you picked was perfect....specially the ending....we need F zero...doesn't need a new mechanic or be innovative...we just need F Zero...we love this game. Let the cap stop running in smash...and finally put his foot where it matters. On the pedal.
Me: Hey Miyamoto, can we get a new F-Zero for the Switch? Miyamoto: Sorry, if we can’t add anything new to the series we won’t make a new entry. But here’s a shamefully barebones Super Mario Party for your troubles.
This generations Mario Party was a waste of my money and I'm still upset about it. The best part is, no one likes it and they'll probably use its failure as a justification to push us back onto that horrible fucking cart everyone has to be on.
I liked Super Mario Party. The unique dices and Partner Party are great additions to the series. Plus, they got rid of the car and the minigames are fun enough. The only bad things about the game are the few boards and no proper online imo
@@caioleite5579 I loved the idea of the dice if some weren't just mechanically Superior to others for no discernible reason. Bowser has a 50/50 of going like 8 spaces or losing 3 coins. That's insane! Look how they massacred my boy "Shy Guy"! 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 0. That's so sad.
I loved the line "Miyamoto asked, 'why F-zero? What do you want that we haven't done before?' But if you can't actually play that which has been done before, what does that matter?" Great video, man.
@Nacho Libre Yeah I was watching Vinny Vinesauce and he pitched this idea of an open world F-zero game where captain falcon can explore a bladerunner-esque world (that was introduced in the GX cutscenes) and also leave the blue falcon and use his moves from smash, his gun, etc. I think its amazing
@Nacho Libre Exactly. I really couldn't put it better myself. This idea has the potential of being one of the greatest games of all time imo. I want that so bad I'd be fine if it had a Breath of the Wild development time and then some more on top of that. Maybe someday...
@Nacho Libre Maybe it would be reasonable by Nintendo's standards to demonstrate new forms of user input with the touch screen. We could have customized consoles that take gestures or combinations of presses so players can perform things like an exaggerated boost, have their machine make a guided path (like clairvoyance in skyrim), or change their vehicles balancing mid-race. The screen could also have a mod that is used for detecting nearby vehicles, there could be a mod that takes the mod of the last racer you spin into, or have sliders that adjust the sensitivity of input for things like drifting. many possibilities!
the problem with this argument is that it opens the door to just endless remakes of every game and no new games ever releasing since you can allways say "you cant play that which has been done before". same logic applies to the endless row of FIFA, Battlefield,CoD,etc. games out there. any yearly franchise really. and do you really want that to happen?
@@derfalschelennox365 Better than what we have now, which is no F-zero since the GC days. You don't always need new gimmicks to keep a franchise going, and adding new gimmicks for the sake of adding them doesn't automatically make for a better game (at times it can even make a game worse or at least certain aspects of it). GX already just about reached the pinnacle of what an F-zero (or racing game in general) could and should be. And instead of seeing that nintendo decided to just let it die, right when it reached a level of epicness and refinement every franchise aspires to attain in it's respective genre. All they need to do is build on that foundation by going bigger, better, and longer in terms of the game's scope. More tracks, more racers/cars, more car parts, possibly a more expansive story mode that goes beyond [cutscene>gimmick race>cutscene] and actually lets you experience the F-zero world to some degree (maybe even semi-open world career mode), custom track builder, proper online multiplayer, etc. They shouldn't go full on fifa, but there should at least be one F-zero game per gen. Though honestly at this point I'd take a bare bones port over the complete absence of F-zero we currently have.
Yep, you're right, Nintendo is the coherence company. If it's mario (or any other super-seller), always a new game for the console, no matter how many times they repeat. If it's not, "we can't do something new with that" or shit like that; they don't give a shit about they're fans. It's a shame, but nintendo is just like any other company, a money maker.
I wish they could stop putting the old pokemon into the new region. I don't like learning new move lists for the same one. I also don't want a pokedex with 1 000 pages
Or even a track editor. But no. In Miyamoto’s mind, there has to be some lame gimmick baked into the game to justify making it. I think he just doesn’t like F-Zero, which is why he can’t think of any good “innovations” for it. It’s sad, because F-Zero is the only place I know of where you can find this unique style of racing experience. Traditional racing games just bore me to tears whenever I try them.
I would love to see an F-Zero game where the course dips in and out of a planet's atmosphere, with the vehicle's handling characteristics changing along with the air density. Out in space it's all about thrust; acceleration vs turning. But inside the atmosphere you can have tight corners where aerodynamics trump raw power.
So basically you sat there brainstorming for however long and came up with a great idea for f-zero ... And Nintendo's excuse is they couldn't think of anything , I love Nintendo's games but holy shit they are annoying sometimes
You could play F-Zero GX on Wii consoles via backpat. There's a trick to do it on WIi U as well via homebrew. F-Zero X and various other F-Zero games were on Wii and WIi U via Virtual Console. Switch is probably the only major console in the past 20 years or so with no BC from them(well 20 years now, around 15 since GC).
I would say Nintendo has always done Snes and Nes compatibility.... okay and done N64 compatibility... servicably, but once you want something from the gamecube onward things get weird and they tend to not bother. The issue being most of the titles people want to replay are either the N64 games they usually skip, or Gamecube titles they never rerelease.
@@UsingGorillaLogic I swear, there's always some sort of catch when Nintendo gives us emulation for anything other than NES and SNES (obviously licenses are an issue, but other than that, there's really no good excuse for first party titles from Gamecube to not be on the Switch).
Unfortunately, there is a disconnect between Nintendo and their audience. Miyamoto, for all his talent, has one major blind spot: he sees games only through the lens of a game designer and not as a game player. What he's forgetting is that gamers want to see more of the world and content of F-Zero, not just new gameplay mechanics. Miyamoto is right when he says the series can't evolve past GX in terms of game design, but we F-Zero fans don't care--we just want to experience more of the fun and wild F-Zero universe. Anybody that hasn't seen Sean Malstrom's blog should look into it. He thoroughly explores the importance of content in games over everything else, even gameplay.
ThePainTrain yh i honestly don’t see them topping the absolute ridiculousness of GX. The nail biting difficulty, the sense of speed. I love Nintendo but this is really one of their best games ever made and to top the original would take serious work. Knowing Nintendo today, they would severely cut the difficulty in turn ruining the entire reason for the game, racing, only for the hardcore
So people are ok with no new mechanics in F-Zero but were not ok with Mega Man not offering anything that's very new (besides the slide, charge shot, etc.)?
Pretty much this. My main reason for wanting a new F-Zero game? I think Captain Falcon's neat and I want to see him do more stuff. That's pretty much it. I mean, he's a Bounty Hunter right? Why not make a game that's part racer and part character action game? Let Captain Falcon race AND fight. Let me do some good ol' F-Zero racing and then juggle bad guys like I'm Dante from Devil May Cry.
@@amuroray88 I think you might be right. He went out of his way to trash GX specifically, when it’s a phenomenal game. So good, that he himself admits he can’t figure out a way to top it.
@@ZeroB4NG I 100%'d it on steam and, it's just too different, I still end up booting Dolphin to play GX. Every time they make a futuristic racing game, it feels slow and it's difficult/frustrating to corner
@@CaptainFALKEN Odyssey is a critically acclaimed game that was loved by the vast majority of people who laid hands on it. You might not have liked it, but that doesn't make Mario dead.
As a 26 year-old person, today I have played F-Zero (F-Zero GX) for the very first time with a friend who has played the series for years..... Now I completely understand why other racing games fail at recreating the experience of F-Zero. It's totally unique, the incredible speed, the fast controls, the soundtracks.... it's really atractive. I'm not a fan of Nintendo, but I would buy a console just to play this. And I feel disappointed that Nintendo left this game series. SIGH* 99% of my friends who have a Nintendo console only play Smash Bross. It's not a bad game, but I just don't like fighting games. I get bored immediately. I bet many people would play an F-Zero game with online up to, 20-30 players?
I don't even see the risks of just giving us F-Zero fans something we want. A meticulously crafted product that might even interest some outsiders to the series. Stubborn old men too afraid to take a miniscule projected loss compared to the mario/zelda/smash big bucks they're constantly making hand over fist. And now, FE is wildly popular thanks to their other major income producer... the mobile market.
This right here is why I don't get Nintendo's stance. Mans just said he'd buy a console for a game like F-Zero, that's $360.00 right there. A new F-Zero would print money! Yet here we are, not closing a sale.
I love how you think but until Nintendo can get their online game play together there’s no why I’ll ever see f zero playing online with that many players.
ya'know, I feel like Smash Ultimate would be a more fun and better competitive game if it had depth and mechanical techniques. Making it be like the same level as like Smash Melee which is the greatest competitive successor which is still alive even almost 20 years later.
This video made me tear up. F-Zero is my most beloved franchise. I played X and GX competitively (Falcon on fzerocentral.org) and wait since 2006 - 2008 for a new title. I don't understand why Miyamoto is so against a new entry. You do not need to create something new only to justify a new entry. Look at BF and Cod. What are they doing each entry. Still the same. A GX 2.0 would be amazing on Switch. More tracks, more drivers (Climax timeline), online mutliplayer, track editor, a better story mode (Like Climax?) and Boost Fire :-) Would that not be enough? I mean, the people cry for a new F-Zero so just bring them what they want.
I think it's a pride thing with Nintendo. They take pride in thinking outside of the box and creating games with purpose. I think that F Zero is coming back eventually though, it's like what was mentioned in the video, it wouldn't of worked with the Wii's gimmicks nor the Wii U's, yet they even did try to make one for the Wii U. Due to the switch feeling like a more standard platform and Nintendo moving away from the target of fairly casual game players with the switch, I would guess that F Zero is likely more now than ever before.
I'm with you brother, I think Nintendo is eventually going to have to set foot upon the land of remakes again (they remade windwaker in wiiu) because just coming up with new ways to see and play a game aren't everything, it's about what the story, display and interactions the game has, why do you think 8 bit games like shovel knight have become popular over the recent years? Graphics aren't everything! And nintendo better take note and do justice to this franchise, I just see so much potential nintendo hasn't used, it frustrates me!
They won't make one though without something to add to it. CoD and BF are the same, yes, but they are also selling. Like the video said, F Zero saw a decline in sales with every release, despite trying to showcase something new with each title. In Nintendo's eyes, F Zero was NOT a successful franchise. At least not compared to their other IP. Unless they find a fit for a new system feature, gaming engine, or rendering technology or something that fits well into a F Zero game, I'd pretty much plan on not ever seeing another new F Zero again. Which is a shame, like most of the folks watching this video, I loved the franchise, and X and GX were a couple of my favorite games. I'm hoping for that new shiny technology, whatever it may be, that sparks the flame for F Zero once again. But until then, I'll be over here with my GameCube and component cables, because damn, GX can still rip your face off at 480p. I can only imagine this game at 1080p. *droooool*
That's the thing with Nintendo. As described in the video, Nintendo doesn't iterate for the sake of iteration or just to improve one thing here or there like BF and CoD. Nintendo is the way it is, their games are as beloved as they are, because each game they make is something new. I agree with the sentiment that it's difficult to come up with something actually new for the game. Yes, there are small things that can make the current experience better such as higher resolutions and improved multiplayer, but those things aren't new in gaming, they're just new for F-Zero. Something different has to come along for Nintendo to think that F-Zero is the game to make. The way I see it, F-Zero probably won't get made fresh until VR is, if ever, mainstream, and we have full force-feedback chairs in every house. F-Zero would benefit from being a full-body experience that no other types of games would necessarily benefit from. One would play F-Zero for the same reason one rides roller coasters. Unfortunately, I don't really see that ever happening. So, in the meantime, I'll just play my copy of F-Zero, on top of my car, while someone does their best to mimic my movements as we both drive.
10:20 Takaya Imamura was quoted in an article just yesterday saying that: "F-Zero isn't dead, it is a series that is hard to bring back without a grand idea." It's interesting to discover that this same sentiment hasn't changed within Nintendo since 2013. 🤔
"Why F-Zero?" Because I saw a race at breakneck speeds around pipes which were for some reason hovering around inside an active volcano and that's entirely too awesome to not want to have right meow.
"This is both Miyamotos greatest strength and weakness" couldn't have put it better myself. I can respect the man for wanting to push new ideas with as many games as possible, but at the same time sometimes you just need to iterate the same basic ideas with better hardware and lessons learned from the previous game. And if he doesn't want to make the game himself, that's fine. His overseeing on Metroid Prime worked fine, if not outright better than anything his own team could've come up with for the jump to 3D.
If you gotta good PC, download the dolphin emulator and game. Looks gorgeous and plays like a dream at even 720p, if you got the CPU and GPU horsepower. At 1440p though, woooh. Games of the PS2/GameCube/Xbox era stand the test of time better than 360 and PS3 games. The way games were crafted back then, even expanded to 4K from their native 480i image, they're gorgeous.
It wouldnt work. You need analog triggers to play. Unless they used motion controls for the analog air brakes. It wouldnt work... Plus nintendo wont port game cube games that require or benefit from analog triggers.

GX was so amazing because you can play casually and finish the game, but the controls are so tight there's always a better run to squeeze out... and then there're the advanced techniques like snaking and momentum boosting and that "fall off the track for just one frame" thing that can lead to such incredible feats of speed... There are some truly amazing runs on YT.
@@OneNidim “casual” means finish all the circuits on standard. It may take a few days playing the game to accomplish but hopefully you didn’t spend $50 expecting to beat it in one day and put it down. The hard and expert modes are definitely very very brutal. I think it took me a couple weeks off and on to beat the story mode Grand Prix chapter alone.
What bugs me though is that Twilight Princess, literally mentioned in this video as a game that also underperformed, got this shiny new coat of paint on the WiiU, which was already a failing console at the time. But yet we can't get a port of GX with the AX tracks some improved graphics and MAYBE some new content and online. I just want something Nintendo please.
That’s simple, because the Zelda franchise as a whole makes WAY more money than F Zero ever has. They can trust that a Zelda remaster will sell tons more than F Zero. An underselling Zelda game is a great selling F Zero game.
@@acolddarkgentlebruh8205 You say that like its wrong to emulate a 20 year old game, lol. Its the next best thing to a game going open source, and it doesn't hurt them financially whatsoever since Nintendo isn't selling any new copies of the game. Hell, i still probably wouldn't buy it until i've tried it out first on an emulator since that option is available to me. I've never played GX before, so I would need to see if the game is for me or not.
F-Zero will never die, it will remain within our hearts. Even if Nintendo doesn’t want to port the games which they really should. Smash is barely keeping F-Zero, Mother and Starfox alive.
Miyamoto is really pushing for Star Fox to revived, he's already given Ubisoft a green light to experiment with it (although Starlink failed because of the toy gimmick despite being a beautiful and immersive game otherwise), and he's reportedly looking for more developers to give it a new breath of life. I just wish he'd did the same with F-Zero and Mother because just seeing Cap and Ness in Smash isn't enough.

"What would you like to see in a sequel?" I would just like *it.* Just F-Zero. I want F-Zero, because I can't play it now. Why isn't there a rerelease with 32 online multiplayer???
Since the focus of F-Zero is speed, wouldn't the Switch's precision vibration motors help with feedback in some way? Maybe a certain vibration could aid the player in piloting around the track. Haptic feedback would really help with that twitchy sense of urgency. That's the first "innovation" that jumps out at me.
I also want to mention Mario Kart Double Dash came out the same year as GX which also caused it to lose on potential sales. The Gamecube was also one of the least selling consoles of that gen, so that's probably another reason why it didn't sell well, along with the lack of social media to help out in advertising (I also think advertising was weak on GX as well).
@@Garbagehead5 Why would you look at that, 2 racing games that had to compete against Mario kart Double Dash. I'm curious to know about the sales from Kirby Air Ride.

Miyamoto has no ideas for a new F-Zero? It's been so long since the last F-Zero that there doesn't have to be any innovation with a new one. If anything, start with the superior gameplay and music style of X and combine them with the modern graphics of today. Make over-the-top tracks. Make brutally hard tracks inspired by the mod F-Zero: The Revenge. Throw in a massive track editor and vehicle customization. Add in passive abilities (similar to Redout), not just boost power. Of course, a no-brainer - online mp. Create a story mode that's not cheesy (GX was super cheesy) and gives life to all the F-Zero characters. C'mon, Nintendo. I'm sick of this "we dunno what direction to go in" excuse. We're now at the point where a simple HD remaster of GX would be considered good enough for most people... but you don't have to do just that, because the fans have already given you enough ideas to make an adequate sequel. That's all I'm saying. To the maker of this video, you did a great job. Have a sub!
miyamoto and his obsetion with gaming interface, that worked on the last starfox zero, yeah . we just want a F zero no gimmics, if you don't want to make the same game well... a remake
it didnt work for GX in its time, either, I remember I was the only one talking or playing that game, every other friend of mine that played videogames was only talking about mario sunshine, metroid prime or smash bros melee. a very limited core audience its whats holding F-Zero back.
Miyamoto: *Doesn't want to make a new game without adding something new* Also Miyamoto: *milks the ever-living-hell out of Mario with constant remakes and re-uses of similar mechanics and engines*
Kachu Don’t recall the last time a main Mario game was made. Plus the Mario series are not only best selling titles, but critically acclaimed titles and noted as some of the greatest games of all time. So they’re not wasting their time with Mario.
It's so frustrating. After close to 20 years without a console entry, you dont need the fresh innovation. Modern visuals, modern engine, same great blindingly fast gameplay. That's all you need! Just freshen it up for the current generation, THEN you can focus on innovation.
"Don't Blink and Drive" if that sentence doesnt apply, its not F-Zero. i apply that question every time someone tells me about an f-zero 'spiritual successor'. so far all ive found is Wipeout clones, not F-Zero.
I think that brutal difficulty is also one factor holding F'Zero back from true blockbuster status. I´d hate them to dumb it down, but as it stands it has niche appeal. How many of us can say we actually beat F'Zero GX if we even bought it, I know I didn´t beat it. That niche appeal will forever limit the series and Nintendo´s desire to make new iterations.
The title screen for F-Zero GX send chills down my spine. I usually don't get pumped up by a simple title screen like that, but having that excellent gameplay attached to it and the sweet soundtrack makes it freaking orgasmic. We certainly need a new one with all of the new hardware advancements. They seem to have realized the new potentials with their other franchises, but not F-Zero which would benefit greatly from the new hardware.

I attempted a couple years ago to build a F-Zero clone with the Unity Engine but I just could not get the controls right and I could not figure out a way to make tube shaped tracks that you're magnetically stuck to when upside down. I still have the project on my PC in case I ever decide to try again but I don't see it happening. I would love a switch f-zero. I put off getting a switch all this time because there aren't many games I want but an f-zero title would push me to it.
Wish YT wasn't shit so I could actually tag you so you can see this, but...Rotate the world instead of the player. Pretty sure that's how they did it in Psychonauts. It's not the same thing, but similar mechanics. Or a better solution; you could have a mesh at the bottom of your vehicle, that points the gravity towards the normal of the mesh. So when you go around the tube, as the vehicle tilts, it's pulled towards the normal, and therefore the center of the tube.
im pretty sure in fzero x and gx/ax. the tubes where just a spline. (a line going between two or more points) where for gravity it just calculated the shortest straight line to the spline, and the angle of that line is set to be the gravity for your vehicle. thus you always get pulled towards the cylinder or into the walls of a tube. and for collisions it simply checks if that line is shorter or longer than the radius of the cylinder/tube.
F-zero GX was the one game that made me reach my top level of gaming , when i beat hardcore mode with my +76 hours put on customizing my personal machine that was just barely good enough to take me to 1st place in that difficulty, along with the unlimited times i re-tried to perfect every turn inch by inch, screaming to the top of my lungs to give me that extra will power as my machine was about to explode and reach the finish line at fucking light speeds my young mind couldnt even comprehend... The good times...
I just played F-0 GX on my dad's game cube for the first time on the last day of 2020 it was amazing and i really like that a lot of other people enjoyed this game too
Something I don't understand is that they want to deviate each game from each other and yet they make at least half-a-dozen New Super Mario Bros games that are basically the same.
Super Mario Odyssey is completely different from Super Mario 3D World which is completely different from New Super Mario Bros... The list goes on. The "all Mario games are the same" meme is just false.
Nick K They stopped being made regularly last generation. Deluxe is just that- a remaster. Also, they were money printing machines for a short period of time.
Damn, this hurts. I only recently played my first F-Zero game not too long ago, and just as you mentioned, it's hard to find these older games or they cost too much. I always wondered why we haven't seen a new F-Zero game and I think you nailed the reasoning for it. Thank you for this super interesting and well put video!
Great video man. I really appreciate that you didn't classify the Fast series as an "F-Zero Successor" as many people do. The overall mentality of Nintendo has changed since the Wii / Wii U era as shown by the changes in Zelda and Smash, they are trying to cater to a more mature audience, and F-Zero fits the bill. I find it very unlikely that Nintendo will develop the next F-Zero, however. Which is not a bad thing, Miyamoto has destroyed Paper Mario with his insistence on Gameplay features, as you mentioned, they would've had to dumb down F-Zero for motion controls. I'd much prefer no game over a bad game, poor Star Fox. I imagine Shin'en or Retro to develop the next entry. I do worry a bit, as the Switch does not have the best hardware, but both these companies can push the console to the limit.
Thanks mate! I do like Fast Neo, but it's definitely a completely different game. The announcer was a very on-the-nose reference (a very welcome one though, he was fantastic!), but gameplay is core, and Fast plays completely differently. Still, as you say, Shin'en has made some excellent-looking games for Nintendo hardware, they absolutely could make a decent F-Zero, they're clearly fans. Retro's a good call, definitely interested to see what they're working on!
@@fromization1 There are more advanced mechanics within the new Smash, the overall speed of the game is way faster, and those character reveal trailers have been hella brutal. As for Zelda, Skyward Sword had some crazy hand-holding, especially so when compared to BOTW.
@@pesky2119 They aren't bad, but F-Zero is so lightning fast that is requires insane precision. I'm picturing a world where instead of a Star Fox Zero, we got an F-Zero Zero. i feel so notaligic watching this video. I will never forget how i played f-zero x as a kid, pressed myself in the seat while my mind was going " okay...okay...OKKKAYYYYY FAAAASTER". Very nice video Sir. Thank you for the memory flashback ;)
Nintendo needs to understand that the only thing that needs to be new in their sequels are the levels and the story. And the only thing that they need to do with the gameplay is make it tighter and better. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros and their other franchises have always been the same but bigger and better with each entry and thats okay. Starfox zero proved that philosophy they have about needing innovations with the gameplay is detrimental. Great video btw.
I disagree about Mario and even more about Smash, each entry in both series is very different from both the former and the latter in the same series. Pokémon has always been a fairly lazy copy and paste job with no effort put into the game aside from composing new music and making new sprites though (mostly because Gamefreak is beyond incompetent). The innovation requirement is fantastic in some cases (look at any of the Mario games, 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy as fantastic examples), and completely unnecessary in others (Star Fox Zero - although it was doomed from the start considering there's only ever been one decent game in the series).
@@Crocodile7104 I suppose if you intend to say that since all Mario games are platformers and are relatively similar then you're right, I was referring to how each iteration consistently builds on what the past entries have but also adds in completely new mechanics. Take Fludd for instance in Sunshine, makes the game completely unique in the world of 3D platformers, and while it is similar to other Mario titles it's impossible to ever confuse it with another in the series.
@@chrismdb5686 You're right about mario but smash really hasn't changed a whole lot since melee if you really take a step back and look (if anything, on a mechanical level i'd say they only spent two games degrading it but I know that's not a popular opinion), they've iterated on the gameplay sure but it hasn't been anything game changing or something that flips the series on its head like they use as an excuse for why F-zero isn't getting a new game yet.
@@megasoniczxx I'd say Brawl was a massive game changer and definitely different from Melee, Smash 4 was a huge game changer from Brawl, and Ultimate was the same to Smash 4, none of them play remotely the same (unless you want to pull the "they're all fighting games/platform brawlers/party games"). There's also a difference between making a fighting game and making a platformer, RPG, etc., to where fighting games don't need a new gimmick or other innovation to be fresh and game changing. Look at Tekken Tag 2 and Tekken 7 for example, the same basic gameplay is there but the addition of the rage mechanic and new characters on the roster makes it unmistakably different from its predecessors (for good and bad).
This just popped into my feed and I decided to watch since I was not familiar with F-Zero. Watched the whole thing, great writing, voicing and video. Keep it up! Subbed.
This is why I'm a little afraid of a new F-Zero, if Nintendo did make one. They'd want to "innovate" or change it for innovation's sake and even if that makes it a good game in its own right, it probably wouldn't be the F-Zero that I know and love. What do I want new for F-Zero that hasn't been done before? ...Nothing. After over a decade, I just want my fix!
This. This is exactly what my viewpoint is. X was fantastic, GX upped on X in every way (even if I prefer the ost for X), the first 2 games were brilliant, the GBA games were excellent. Nintendo has a winning formula here, and with the death of Wipeout, F-Zero would reign king of it's genre. Redout wouldn't be able to compete with F-Zero's pedigree and history, despite it's quality as a game and it's awesome sense of speed. Nintendo needs to just do what nintendo does. Make the game with all the love and care they put into all their first-party games and they'll have a success. It might be a cult success, but a cult success can grow. Look at Ico and the Shadow of Colossus games. Or Drakengard. A new F-Zero would only do good for Nintendo, and show their fans that they can still make a blisteringly fast racing game with no compromises.
@@kujiko88 I'd call Redout more of a Wipeout successor than an F-Zero one, albeit one with some really nice track design. It's definitely a mile closer to what I'm looking for than the Fast series so far.
@@danielthompson8451 Redout tickles my brain in a different way than F-Zero does, but I love both games. Redout is more methodical while still being high octane, and F-Zero is more reactionary. If a new F-Zero came out, I'd probably still play Redout alongside it.
If we can't get a new F-Zero Nintendo... Make a bloody Collection, a Definitive edition, if you will, of all released and unreleased games. I mean Castlevania is pretty much dead, but they still gave us the series highlights (Rondo and Symphony) ported to a new console, so if you can't make a def edition with piffed up graphics, at least give us the complete GX experience... WITH AX data!
@ It's pretty typical for fighting game sequels to play somewhat similarly and have a lot of the same characters. It's not typical to have a complete story mode in one, or a full-blown RPG in another. But keep insisting there's nothing innovative!
F-Zero pushed the SNES to limit by pseudo 3D F-Zero X pushed the N64 to limit with perfect framerate in 3D F-Zero GX pushed the Gamecube and Arcades machines to limits with everything set nearly to max F-Zero Climax pushed the GBA to limit by pseudo 3D with it's incredible racing speed F-Zero Switch.... 3 times the amount of tracks what GX offered in game-play with even wildest & hardest tracks ever made for gods to race on, perfect frame rate, track editor, machine & emblem creator, 30 player online races WITH PERFECT INTERNET CONNECTION TO SERVERS, and VR Support that will push Nintendo to it's limit....packaged with a wearable Captain Falcon Helmet and high-quality F-Zero Machine Steering Wheel controller like most racing games have, none of that Wii Wheel shit.
They don't know what new to add to F-Zero ? Each game needs to have something new/unique ? And that's why there is no new F-Zero game ? So why do we have 50 New Super Mario games that are all the same freaking thing ?... after ~15 years.. I think people don't care if there is nothing new... I mean.. make something with 36 new races with better graphics and awesome music and physics is all we want .. !! Track editor, online multiplayer, etc. ! You have planty of possibilities nintendo ! AWESOME video btw ! great job !
I have long since thought that this guy has some personal grudge against the F Zero franchise. He only gives lazy excuses as to why there isn't another one. Even someone with half a functioning brain could see all you would need to do is give it the same treatment as any other modern racing title. Basically all the things you listed above.
@@blaynegreiner9365 well here's the deal, the games never really sold that well. I looked around for some sale figures (tho I didn't do too much of an in depth analysis, so correct me if I'm wrong) but literally every single other franchize Nintendo made keept outperforming F-Zero. On top of that remakes and VC releases tend to get fraction of the original sales, so even if we are generous I can't see GX remake/re-release selling well and thus why should Nintendo bother? Don't get me wrong I like F-Zero, but Nintendo is a business and business needs to make money to be successful and F-Zero doesn't make enough money.
@@blaynegreiner9365 yeah and I told you why he keeps making those lazy excuses. If we were to trust him then yeah there is nothing here that can be done that wasn't done before. Regardless why would he hold grudge against F-Zero? At worst people keep pestering him about releasing a new one. If anything Miyamoto would hold personal grudge against Star Fox, a game frenchize he himself managed to ruin, by sabotaging the studio working on Star Fox 2 ensuring that every Star Fox will be basically just the snes game and making Rare turn their Dino Planet game into Star Fox Adventures. tl;dr it seems more likely that the excuses are made because of money and it's much more likely that Miyamoto hold a grudge against Star Fox rather than F-Zero a frenchize that he doesn't seem to care about.
It bothers me that Miyamoto doesn't want to make a new F-Zero because they "can't do anything new" with it, while they still pump out Mario games every couple years. Don't get me wrong, I like Mario, but when you can just skip titles and feel like you have no reason to play them because the newer one is just like it, you have no excuse not to make a new entry in a series that hasn't had a game in 15 1/2 years.
Giordan Diodato well need for speed is one thing. And f-zero is another. I personally don't believe such a comparison is exactly fair to f-zero. The easy to learn, but hard to master gameplay is another conversation, but the fact that f-zero has such potential an hd rerelease wouldn't do it justice. I think i'm on nintendo's side here. Until you can find something brand new and amazing then there's no reason to really try and push out newer games.
First video I've seen of yours, but what a god damn masterpiece. I actually started to get teary eyed toward the end when I heard that glorious title screen theme from the first game. Logical, thoughtful, not pandering or blinded by nostalgia but genuinely heartfelt. What a damn fine essay. Guess I'll go run through the circuits on my 3DS for the nth time.
Your agruments are really valid and it's a shame that we are not even allowed to enjoy the old. F-Zero Gives me gossbumps and I missed out completely on it :
At last, UA-cam FINALLY recommends me a good video to watch! A good recap and timeline of the F-Zero franchise. It was amazing, comprehensive, and well-constructed! You are earned a subscriber in me! I agree with the points you give in your video! One thing I had in mind is that a future F-Zero game can do is perhaps bring old tracks from previous games kind of how Mario Kart DS began with the Retro Grand Prix by bring back old tracks along with their music. In particular, it would be great to see how SNES courses would be revamped if Nintendo went with this.
After I learned about Capt Falcon from Smash 64, I've always wanted an F-Zero game where they include some world building, playing as an actual bounty hunter. Keep the racing on the wild courses above the city, and have the bounty hunter, open world aspect on the city below, doing all sorts of missions. Want to race? Take the Falcon Flyer up join a race.
An excellent video and analysis of the franchise. It's hard to find such videos in youtube, but yet you managed to captivate me through every second. Excellent pacing, interesting story telling and editing, as well as coming to a reasonable deduction, that i haven't quite heard before. Congratulations, on making a retrospective of the Futuristic racing genre and I am looking forward to your new videos
15:16 GX and AX were incredibly beautiful looking racing games. That star-like shine that u can see off the rear blasters on vehicles in front of u always WOWED me!!🤩 Love F-Zero!! If no new game, give us a port of GX on Switch.
F-Zero GX will always have a special place in my heart as the most insane and crushingly difficult racing game I’ve played. Always happy to see people still making videos about the series, fantastic video.
Wipeout or Fast Neo can't be F-Zero for 2 big reasons 1st= the gameplay 2nd and most important point, each F-Zero pilots and their machines have a story Gazelle who discovered his Red Gazelle in the same time of his new body after the accident Falcon the legendary bounty hunter from Port Town with his unknow face Drake the F-Zero fanboy who must deliver the MT and the MH with his friend Roger Buster with the hope to gain enough To build his own machine when the 2 others will be gone And that is only examples between the +40 drivers F-Zero is not only a race game, it is a whole univers with differents planets (Earth, Poripoto, Zou...) and it makes that we are attached To this world, that is a dream for me Thank you F-Zero for all these hours of dream, driving at 1000km/h and more around Mute City, Big Blue, and Sand Ocean
Neither seems unique to F-Zero by any means - WipEout's lore is pretty expansive (enough for an entire wiki dedicated to it). And what *is* so bad about its gameplay?
Great video!! Would be really nice to see you make one on Star Fox too. SF and F-Zero seem to have a lot of similarities when it comes to their inception and stagnation. It's really a shame.
Great video. Glad to have found a new channel to subscribe to. F-zero is one of my favourite series and Miyamoto does indeed not understand why we want a new one. I guess innovation is only important when it's not guaranteed to make money like mario or pokemon. It's a shame sometimes.
I feel like when Miyamoto's not confident in a new game concept, he slaps an established IP on it. He wanted to turn Splatoon into a Mario spin-off, and yet Splatoon still ended up incredibly popular without it.
the saddest part about this is that not only did thye refuse to remaster GX on the switch ***which ould be epic*** but they also refused to make a massive online F-Zero that would work like Splatoon does, Nintendo sees what companies do when their another companies title loses availability when it was atually good and say "what the fuck kind of person does that?" F-Zero doesnt need to evolve. it needs to become bigger, not in scale in Playability and Replayability
The fact that Miyamoto doesn't know what to add means that F-Zero GX must have been perfect. Other companies would then bleed this dry with release after release, each one functionally identical but with new maps and a new story. This game could be for Nintendo what Call of Duty is for Treyarch. The ultimate Cash Cow. The Holy Grail. It needs no introduction, it needs no change. Each new game for each new generation only needs a graphical upgrade, a balance tweak, a bugfix, and a new set of maps.
This video is one that I didn’t know I needed. I’m sad now cause of the recollection of what was lost but am happy for the life F-Zero lead, it was a good life.
No doubt, nothing new concerning the topic, however, this gives me even more hope that we will finally get the first party racer we deserve. Frankly, saying that F-Zero can't be improved on will always sound like an excuse when I see Fire Emblem, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Smash Bros., Mario Tennis... There will always be an area to improve in. Multiplayer is definitely it in F-Zero games. Still I would like them to allow players to create tracks as JP only games had that feature. Sure we get customized machines in GX, but creating courses will always be a highly desired concept along with online races. I may also sound like a traditionalist, but I also am opposed to F-Zero becoming more open world as others seem to want. Unless it's a spinoff, such an idea has no business being a mainline entry. Excellent video above all, though.
Not to mention the boat loads of NSMB games, and all the Deluxe editions of games being ported to the switch. Like making F-Zero GX HD would be super easy, even if sales slumped, it's not like an HD rerelease would need that much money to produce.
The reason most Nintendo franchises get sequels is because they fit a genre and a core audience that can both please people who already know the genre or get people into it. With Mario Kart 8, while not F-Zero, being very very similar, I don't think they'll make an F-Zero just because its an IP The same goes for Kid Icarus, who never got a sequel until it fit a new genre and is honestly not gonna see a sequel any time soon
Yeah, a lot of people don't realize how many rescources an open world would drain away from the core gameplay elements that make F-Zero what it is and need to be as strong as possible. It'd be a comparatively bland experience unless it was handled in a minimal, novel manner and just isn't what the game is focused around. One thing I will say though is that vehicle customization combined with online functionality could lead to some great things, making it easy to build relationships with other drivers even across multiple races and sort of tell your own stories. But perhaps that's just me being fanciful.
@@OnEiNsAnEmOtHeRfUcKa Yep, hit the nail on the head. A more, well, action/adventure based game would take considerable time, resources, and drain the budget which could be used for much more useful things. And as proven, games can still succeed without straying too hard from the core. In fact, its far more feasible to maintain the core and add minimal changes (like a built in track editor, sharing, 12 man online racers, etc.)
@@modelingcloy218 You know, I would think that in the world of Nintendo, the idea of making slightly different games made for a “racing” crowd (which isn’t in itself, the same audience they’re trying to reach for in the demographic) being the reason why F-Zero games get made. Yet we also live in a world where Kirby and Yoshi can be sold on the same console, as well as stuff like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem (which only demonstrates how lame this excuse is).
Great Video! It makes me sad to think F-Zero may truely be dead. I love the series so much and have played all the titles that are available to me. Damn you Nintendo!
God damn man this video gave me chills and made me sad at the same time. So well done! Thank you for making a video that sums up how I've felt for years.
This is easily one of my favorite videos of 2018 and definitely one of the best I've seen regarding Nintendo and F-Zero. Thank you so much for making this. I love F-Zero to death and will always hope for a new one.
This is one of my favorite videos in regards to video games. Thank you so much for making this so that more people can understand why f zero was so legendary
Perhaps I'm over optimistic but I believe the notion that Nintendo won't make a new F-Zero game without some new gimmick died with the Wii U. The Switch for the most part has seen a Nintendo more willing to deliver what fans want over what they want. Now the waggle days of the Wii and the bear bones days of the Wii U are gone I believe a new F-Zero is coming for the last 2 years we have seen a Nintendo tick of each franchise as they release games on the Switch. First it was Zelda then it was Mario, this year we are finally seeing the return of Metroid and Animal Crossings two series which have also seen drought (although not as big) I do believe we are going to see some other series make returns such as Kid Icuras, Starfox and maybe even a Earthbound and I do believe we will see an F-Zero within the next 2 years. Or perhaps I am too optimistic.
You make a good argument. I get the feeling that there would have been some internal discussions after Star Fox Zero's launch. Question is whether it would lead to fewer gimmick-based games, or whether they will take fewer risks on old IPs. With Prime 4 on the distant horizon, I'm kind of hoping it won't be the latter
-Remaster GX for Switch -Add back the Course Creator from 64DD version -Add Online Multiplayer -Bring back Death Race gamemode boom, new F-Zero game Miyamoto. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
There's lots of things that will be fresh and new if they made a new F-Zero: •New story ▪possibly a custom character feature, but people would still be just as happy to see Captain Falcon •Speed and obstacles ▪By this I mean it could be the normal game, but with more obstacles and things to watch out for and dodge while zooming through the road. And the longer you go without hitting anything, the faster you go, and there is no terminal velocity. This would take skill and focus, and it could actually get very competitive. •Much better graphics and controls on the switch (obviously) •Very few people even got the chance to play F-zero, so even if it was exactly the same as before it'd be amazing and new for the rookies (and for the OGs it'd be a nice nostalgic callback) •In story mode, they could have things to do outside of racing. Maybe an open world. Maybe some fighting combat? After all, Captain Falcon is mostly known for being a brawler ("FALCON... P U N C H ! !")
I always thought a sequel should have a nice storymode starring a rather bland self insert protagonist who wants to step into his fathers footsteps as a master racer - with a fully customizable vehicle (you unlock new parts/upgrades through playing). To make up for the generic part we would need a cast of very colourful, larger than life side characters, both old and new, with Cpt. Falcon serving as some sort of veteran mentor. Aside from the races (duh) it either plays like a futuristic RPG (with all "fights" being races/racing challenges) or an adventure with 3D beat'em'up mechanics in the overworld (we have brawlers and bounty hunters after all). But it should also offer a classic mode (also allowing you to unlock stuff) if you don't want to bother with that.
They could do secondary missions of Captain Falcon fighting against villains or something like that, he is a bounty hunter and the races are suppossed to be his hobby. The only time we have seen something related to that is the comic where he finally uses his gun to kill King K. Rool. In the game he would use that gun and his Smash move set, and maybe a cutscene where he says show me your moves would be very nice and funny. He could fight against other racers that want to assegurate an easy win.
Unfortunately that's not enough for Nintendo. "New and improved" is not the same as being innovative and as much as I'd love for a new F-Zero game to release with all those things included, so far Nintendo hasn't treated the franchise like those that have a release for each console, like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, etc.
to add to these points, the switch is selling very very well, so if they put the effort into marketing a new f-zero and putting it out there on the switch, it'd likely attract a lot of new blood.
You're missing the point. Those things are only new to F-Zero, not gaming in general. Nintendo wants to bring F-Zero to some new innovation if it fits, not reiterate F-Zero with new features.
"Nintendo doesn't just release the same old game with a coat of paint often." Exhibit A: Mario Kart 1-8, then 8 Deluxe Exhibit B: New Super Mario Bros, basically an HD Super Mario Bros although it was fun and did well, had 4 games and another "deluxe" version for the switch Exhibit C: Mario Party Exhibit D: Pokemon; now every pokemon game is different, because of the pokemon and a few more mechanics here and there, but if I played Pokemon Red then went to Pokemon Sword, it wouldn't feel very different, in terms of gameplay at least. LOZ passes because some of those games were revolutionary, even considered the best ones of their time, or all time.
How anybody can look at the Mario Kart series and thinks its hasn't evolved with each installment has their eyes closed. And Nintendo basically do nothing for Pokemon since they only own 1/3 of it.
All they did was add drifting, update graphics, and add new characters and tracks. It really did not change that much. Just like Pokemon, I can go from the first to newest game without finding much deviation, as I already have.
Pokemon is not made by Nintendo and while I understand the exhibits you mentioned (Not 100% with you on Mario Kart), the Mario 3D platformers are actually unique from each other. Maybe not so much for 3D Land and 3D World but Sunshine had the FLUDD, Galaxy had a handful of new things, Galaxy 2, expanded on it, and Odyssey had new tricks and Cappy.
And here we are, days away from the 30th anniversary of F-Zero and still we have heard nothing. Any acknowledgment of the series or any celebration for it would be great.
Stefan, thanks to you to this hi-quality video about F-Zero rise and fall. I loved Your style, your accuracy and your point of view. From my perspective, I think that, if they will ever make a new one, it will be about the online gameplay. Graphics they already mastered enough. Speed as well. Now it may be the turn of the online and, why not, eSports! Would be amazing to assist (and play!) in big competitions, each one with their own character (a deep and brand new editor would be already something new enough), their own vehicle and logo. Hope to hear from You soon, good job Stefan!
I would love that! GX's physics were just so visceral and fun to race with, I could really play it forever if it had online. There's only so much single-player content, so GX with online or a track editor would be perfect! Thanks for watching mate!
Wow. I definitely was not expecting this from this video. That was smart, well written and of course very interesting. While I consider myself a huge Nintendo fan, I found myself stupid not to realize sooner what you say in your video : they got the idea first, then use an IP. It just blew my mind, but it's so true. Thank you for that great video, that was 26 minutes I really didn't waste.
The Blue Falcon sits in a hangar somewhere just glistening and that's a good takeaway from all this. ;)
Beautiful comment.
Thank you for making its death a little less sad. Hats off to you.
We still got Fast RMX. It's fun but hard.
@Stormrage .....how is that conformist? That's how I feel.
Miyamoto: I poop on Mario Party.
F-Zero shall never be disrespected with such milking.
I liked Super Mario Party. The unique dices and Partner Party are great additions to the series. Plus, they got rid of the car and the minigames are fun enough. The only bad things about the game are the few boards and no proper online imo
@@caioleite5579 The car? 🚘

I also don't want a pokedex with 1 000 pages
no, I just don't want them in the new game at all. If they come from the previous game, that's fine. But not the pokemon from 3 games ago
Literally HD graphics, high speed, and massive online play is all that's needed for a new F-Zero.
I know this is 3 months old but I just wanna say this one word: Lag...
And unique track designs.
@@CarloNassar or a track editor like F-Zero X had on the N64DD
Or even a track editor. But no. In Miyamoto’s mind, there has to be some lame gimmick baked into the game to justify making it. I think he just doesn’t like F-Zero, which is why he can’t think of any good “innovations” for it. It’s sad, because F-Zero is the only place I know of where you can find this unique style of racing experience. Traditional racing games just bore me to tears whenever I try them.
@@Argon314 have you ever tried WipeOut on PlayStation?
I would love to see an F-Zero game where the course dips in and out of a planet's atmosphere, with the vehicle's handling characteristics changing along with the air density. Out in space it's all about thrust; acceleration vs turning. But inside the atmosphere you can have tight corners where aerodynamics trump raw power.

So basically you sat there brainstorming for however long and came up with a great idea for f-zero ... And Nintendo's excuse is they couldn't think of anything , I love Nintendo's games but holy shit they are annoying sometimes
Nintendo: 'We already made a game like this. Play that.'
Also Nintendo: 'Backwards compatability? What's that?'
Virtual Console? What's that?
"Grr, i hate emulation"

@@adamengelhart5159 God damn this is why I love F-ZERO
Making it be like the same level as like Smash Melee which is the greatest competitive successor which is still alive even almost 20 years later.
i hate racing games ut f zero is the only one i like(played it with nso and i loved it)
This video made me tear up.
I'd love to see the decline in sales of Mario games when compared to F-Zero.
10:20 Takaya Imamura was quoted in an article just yesterday saying that: "F-Zero isn't dead, it is a series that is hard to bring back without a grand idea." It's interesting to discover that this same sentiment hasn't changed within Nintendo since 2013. 🤔
I don't think you'd need to do much to bring it back today. Just HD 60fps that shit with good track design and it'll sell
@@Matanumi Nintendo is just hypocritical... I hate them.
They don't want to spell out directly that the games just didn't sell a lot.
"Why F-Zero?"
Because I saw a race at breakneck speeds around pipes which were for some reason hovering around inside an active volcano and that's entirely too awesome to not want to have right meow.
Why F-Zero?
Me:......Yes
I agree with the cat
The better question is "Why Not F-Zero?" If the only reason not to make a new one is "what would we change" that's a sign it would print money!
F-Zero GX is fucking gorgeous. Like it looks so good and it plays wonderfully. I really wish it was ported to switch so I can see it even better.

F-Zero will never die, it will remain within our hearts. Even if Nintendo doesn’t want to port the games which they really should. Smash is barely keeping F-Zero, Mother and Starfox alive.
Exactly how I feel. Unless it's not being referenced or used or talked about this much, a series like F-Zero is hardly dead in that sense.

I feel the very same.
So when you go around the tube, as the vehicle tilts, it's pulled towards the normal, and therefore the center of the tube.
keep at it bro... it's heroes like you that saves retro gamers
im pretty sure in fzero x and gx/ax. the tubes where just a spline. (a line going between two or more points)
where for gravity it just calculated the shortest straight line to the spline, and the angle of that line is set to be the gravity for your vehicle.
thus you always get pulled towards the cylinder or into the walls of a tube.
and for collisions it simply checks if that line is shorter or longer than the radius of the cylinder/tube.

@@chrismdb5686 i was actually talking about the core gameplay of those games not the way these entries play.
Almost all the OST of GX was good, but yes, certain pieces were... well... ugh, I prefer the GP Legend "Fire Field" over the GX version.
Exactly!!
@@danielthompson8451 Redout tickles my brain in a different way than F-Zero does, but I love both games. Redout is more methodical while still being high octane, and F-Zero is more reactionary. If a new F-Zero came out, I'd probably still play Redout alongside it.
“Vehicles that corner like a greased pig on stilts”. You had me laughing out loud there
If we can't get a new F-Zero Nintendo...
That definitely sounds like a Day One if it is on Switch.
@ It's pretty typical for fighting game sequels to play somewhat similarly and have a lot of the same characters. It's not typical to have a complete story mode in one, or a full-blown RPG in another. But keep insisting there's nothing innovative!
Even Contra is dead. But it probably wouldn't hold up well in today's modern day of gaming.
Also Paper Mario, but that's a different case.
LE REDDIT COMMANDER *And with your second and third sentence your Comment is invalid* Oh you were so close but yet so far away.
I wouldn't care if they just made it just like GX but with new tracks. I just want to play a new F-zero game.
F-Zero pushed the SNES to limit by pseudo 3D
F-Zero X pushed the N64 to limit with perfect framerate in 3D
F-Zero GX pushed the Gamecube and Arcades machines to limits with everything set nearly to max
F-Zero Climax pushed the GBA to limit by pseudo 3D with it's incredible racing speed
F-Zero Switch....

@@Nuggette What I said has nothing to do with sales figures. It has to do with what he has said about the franchise.
Why does no one mention all the Zelda series-milking? I'm sick of Zelda games, too.
Exactly. It's not like trying to force new mechanics on to Star Fox Zero made it better.
with Mario, you can do some crazy ideas. But you can only do so much in a racing game series. Just look at Need for Speed.
Yet people still buy Mario games...
with mario its incredibly different from title to title.
"See you, Space Falcon"
That sounds like a very cool idea.
This is one of the best documentaries I have seen in a long while. I absolutely loved it.
Extremely well-made video! Makes me want a new F-Zero game even more though.
Great channel, you have the perfect voice for these documentary style videos. Greatly appreciated.
The best homage to F-Zero. Period.
Wipeout or Fast Neo can't be F-Zero for 2 big reasons
1st= the gameplay
2nd and most important point, each F-Zero pilots and their machines have a story
Gazelle who discovered his Red Gazelle in the same time of his new body after the accident
Falcon the legendary bounty hunter from Port Town with his unknow face
Drake the F-Zero fanboy who must deliver the MT and the MH with his friend Roger Buster with the hope to gain enough To build his own machine when the 2 others will be gone
And that is only examples between the +40 drivers
F-Zero is not only a race game, it is a whole univers with differents planets (Earth, Poripoto, Zou...) and it makes that we are attached To this world, that is a dream for me
Thank you F-Zero for all these hours of dream, driving at 1000km/h and more around Mute City, Big Blue, and Sand Ocean
Hell yeah brother, well said!
Neither seems unique to F-Zero by any means - WipEout's lore is pretty expansive (enough for an entire wiki dedicated to it). And what *is* so bad about its gameplay?
WipEout has a lot of lore in it too though, comparable to F-ZERO
Great video!! Would be really nice to see you make one on Star Fox too. SF and F-Zero seem to have a lot of similarities when it comes to their inception and stagnation. It's really a shame.
Heh, what are you doing here...?
So F-zero GX is a perfect game, not a bad problem to have.
"I won't sit through the entire video"
I was wrong. Great video! You really know how to keep the viewers interested at all times :D

He wanted to turn Splatoon into a Mario spin-off, and yet Splatoon still ended up incredibly popular without it.
the saddest part about this is that not only did thye refuse to remaster GX on the switch ***which ould be epic*** but they also refused to make a massive online F-Zero that would work like Splatoon does,
Nintendo sees what companies do when their another companies title loses availability when it was atually good and say "what the fuck kind of person does that?"
F-Zero doesnt need to evolve.
it needs to become bigger, not in scale
in Playability and Replayability
With Mario Kart 8, while not F-Zero, being very very similar, I don't think they'll make an F-Zero just because its an IP
The same goes for Kid Icarus, who never got a sequel until it fit a new genre and is honestly not gonna see a sequel any time soon
This video is so high quality, you deserve so many new subscribers! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind comment, it really means the world

-Remaster GX for Switch
-Add back the Course Creator from 64DD version
-Add Online Multiplayer
-Bring back Death Race gamemode
boom, new F-Zero game Miyamoto. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
There's lots of things that will be fresh and new if they made a new F-Zero:
•New story
▪possibly a custom character feature, but people would still be just as happy to see Captain Falcon
•Speed and obstacles
▪By this I mean it could be the normal game, but with more obstacles and things to watch out for and dodge while zooming through the road. And the longer you go without hitting anything, the faster you go, and there is no terminal velocity. This would take skill and focus, and it could actually get very competitive.
•Much better graphics and controls on the switch (obviously)
•Very few people even got the chance to play F-zero, so even if it was exactly the same as before it'd be amazing and new for the rookies (and for the OGs it'd be a nice nostalgic callback)
•In story mode, they could have things to do outside of racing. Maybe an open world. Maybe some fighting combat? After all, Captain Falcon is mostly known for being a brawler
("FALCON... P U N C H !
"Nintendo doesn't just release the same old game with a coat of paint often."
Exhibit A: Mario Kart 1-8, then 8 Deluxe
Exhibit B: New Super Mario Bros, basically an HD Super Mario Bros although it was fun and did well, had 4 games and another "deluxe" version for the switch
Exhibit C: Mario Party
Exhibit D: Pokemon; now every pokemon game is different, because of the pokemon and a few more mechanics here and there, but if I played Pokemon Red then went to Pokemon Sword, it wouldn't feel very different, in terms of gameplay at least.
LoZ does not get a pass. Recent titles are over rated. There hasn't been a truly great Zelda since the Wind Waker.
