Now that's what a call being prepared!! I could have done with that rain suit in Spain last year. It absolutely hammered it down. Great video as always, hope you get that tyre sorted. Cheers!
I have a 2017 S10. Great bike. FYI take a look at the fuel additive that Yamaha sells called Fuel Medic. About 10,000 miles I developed a vibration that would make my hands numb. In talking to the Yamaha Rep he was totally convinced that it was carbon build up on the injectors and around the valves. He recommended the Yamaha Fuel Medic. He was 100% right. After about 5 tanks of that stuff it is smooth as silk and the power is great. I put one ounce to 3 gallons of gas. Paniers...Bumont. Have had them three years and love them. Highly recommend them! Great video.
Thanks so much for the advice. I’ll look into fuel medic, thanks for that. I have the Bumont top box and I’m happy with that. I’ll keep the panniers in mind too. I’ve heard nothing but great things about them. Thanks so much for watching.
I'm on my second super tenere, Yamaha panniers and topcase came with the first one and I carried them to the second. Should you ever go that route, before you ride a mile pop off the interior cover on each of the locks, , remove the two tiny phillips screws in each lock, put the highest grade loc-tite you can find on the screws and reinstall them. My top case (which WARNING:: looks a lot like yours) lock came apart and even the Yamaha techs couldn't get it back together so I installed a hasp set and use a padlock. Looks a little cheesy, but really don't care. The side cases have been so hard to operate the key actually started to bend a bit. The bike itself is great.. But if I had it to do again, I'd stay with soft sided soft. Taking off the rear seat does give lots of space too. I tie the bags I carry down with ratchet straps, which may seem extreme, but the brackets for the panniers are incredibly solid and using the ratchet straps have never come loose and keep the stuff from pushing me forward on the seat too.
Thanks for the heads up. I have an FJR1300 too , and the pannier locks are famous for falling apart. I’ve used Loctite on them. I’ll check out the locks on my top case. Cheers
I have the same bike, (same colour) & same bumot top box, love the idea of side mounted bags on the box, 1 handy tips, a held Honda crosstourer under rack bag fits perfectly under the topbox in that space in then box mounting plate, I use mine for a chunky disc lock & cable ties, over time, 2 years plus you do get 2 good dents in the under bag from the bolts, but I find it way better than carrying a disc lock in the topbox,
Great video as always Kris, the mods to the top box are great, and the bags look great on there. Love the Coffee segue as well, awesome editting! ride safe buddy!
Liked and subscribed ... some excellent editing there, you took some time over this - poss best editing I seen for the XT in any vid - so .... you asked what wasn't liked, well then, sound design - sound makes a vid, you got so many good camera angles, and you worked your slow to quick so well, and your two cam set ups were top notch, but now and again your sound balance was off, and if you set that up right I think you're storming - good stuff my man :) - oh and was did you edit this on?
Hi, thanks so much for the kind words and the feed back. I with you on the sound, I wasn’t happy when I edited it. Lots of issues but I think I have them all sorted now. I have bough a couple of new mics for off bike work. Thanks for watching and take care.
Hi from sunny Bristol! just subscribed! great vid, i own a ktm 990 smt which im soon selling and getting a T10. Love these bikes but didnt fancy hard panniers either, too wide for filtering, plus soo many issues with locks!! Love your planning and using soft luggage so thanks for doing this vid!!
Hello there, thanks for watching. I’m still without panniers and I think I’ll look at a soft luggage option is I need more space. Thanks for subscribing!! Take care.
Hi there from south africa. Awesome video man. I built my own pannier racks. They work perfectly and were like a 10th of the price of ones you buy. It takes some time measuring and bending the pipes obviously, but in the end it looks great and works perfectly. I'll dm you some pics if you want. I just did a long trip this past weekend where we rode through some seriously rough terrain and having tour weight down lower really helps with handling.
Thanks for watching. I’ve not considered making my own, what an awesome idea. I’d love to see some pics. I’m Island biker on insta too so happy for you to DM me. Cheers.
Hi there! I didn't watch the whole video yet, I stopped at 3:01, and came here to leave this comment... because I was also a tank commander in the Portuguese Army, and I also own a Super Ténéré!!! I am glad to see an armour friend among here!!! (Y)
@@challenger_commander from 1997 to 2009 we had M60 A3 TTS. Since 2009 we have Leopard2 A6! Do you have facebook account? It would be nice to chat with you!
Marco Silva wow, M60 was a beast, I had a play in the Leo 2 while I was in Germany. I was Challenger 1 and Challenger 2 as well as Scimitar and a bit of warrior for a while. I do have Facebook, it’s in my about info.
@@challenger_commander No problem. You probably don't remember, but I used to comment using V. Vking, but changed my channel name when people kept telling me they couldn't find it. I always watch your vids, but I don't always have time to comment. My watch list keeps getting longer hahaha. Be safe.

@@challenger_commander What was your previous bike and what do you think about the power of your Super Tenere? Can you tell me what rpms are when cruisin at 60mph in 6th gear. Thanks for everything.
danijel kos I had a Tracer 700 before the Tenere and I also have an FJR1300. The power is good for me. It pulls hard and gets up to speed very quickly. Great for overtaking. Not sure with RPM at 60 is but I’ll check next time I’m out.
I found this video to have good information, but oh the MUSIC... please turn it down! I'm not a teenager (hence why I ride a Super Tenere) and don't need it blasted every time you want to do some nifty video interlude. But I'm thinking about subscribing, despite this.

Love your video. I like your setup. I generally don’t like hard panniers and top boxes but I love how you’ve modified and added the soft pouches.
Thanks very much. I keeps the bike slim, especially for filtering in traffic. I also like to make the most of stuff I’ve already got.
