I think they'll use the shows to expand on this new universe and probably will wait a couple seasons before they make a movie again. Would be shocked if they went with Ep.10 instead of just calling it something completely different. Like 'Baby Yoda becomes a teenager and f**ks sh*t up' Ep.1 lol
I really can't stand any of the disney trilogy. I haven't paid to see one since they conned me into seeing a remake of new hope back in 2015. The whole trilogy just undermines everything from the originals. Those original characters now accomplished nothing. The Jedi did not return, the empire didn't fall, Palpatine wasn't killed so Anakins journey was for nothing. The rebels just continued living on forest moons being rebels for 35 years. Han went back to being a smuggler. All so disney could lazily repeat the same things over again but with their bland new characters. It's boring to watch a movie universe that 35 years later hasn't changed or evolved but instead gone backwards.
How is Palpatine still alive. He was vaporized after he was thrown down that shaft, and then the Death Star exploded. It also undermines the idea of Anakin being the chosen one, and being the one to finally put an end to the sith.
Yeah, big largest gripe, in context of the 9 movies, is the whole "bring balance to the force" thing is not even given a moment's thought. No balance was brought.
Honestly, that's sort of always been the problem with the sequel trilogy in regards to... everything. So who are the new baddies going to be now that the Empire was defeated? Well, actually, now there's these new guys call the First Order who are basically the same thing complete with stormtroopers, star destroyers, TIE fighters... and they even have there own new planet killing super weapon called Starkiller base. Oh, at least Emperor Palpatin and Darth Vader aren't around to lead them anymore? Well, yes, but now there's this new Supreme Leader named Smoke and there's a new guy in black armor named Kylo Ren. Oh, at least the good guys should have rebuilt the Republic and the Jedi over the last 30 years? Well, yes, but not really. The new republic is entirely ineffectual so Leia is still leading a ragtag band of resistance fighters from a secret base. Meanwhile, Luke's attempt to rebuild the Jedi ended disastrously and he's gone off into exile. So what exactly did the original trilogy accomplish anymore?
@@EmeralBookwise If the Star Wars EU is any indication, then you can make more Star Wars without touching the original trilogy that much. You can also present a more original threat, like the Yuuzhan Vong. It doesn't have to be a copy paste of the original trilogy, as far as general concepts go.
I liked it enough. It just felt as if they should have left the new trilogy in Abrams' hands from the beginning and given him a chance to tell the story he wanted to tell. They fixed the Mary Sue aspect of Rey, both through backstory and training, so that was a plus for me. Also, Kylo's arch was fitting--and necessary for the overall story. Besides that, the rest was passable. Oh, and that one scene with Luke and Leia makes me hope they do an Episode 6.5 animated (stylized) series . . . because honestly, that's what everyone wanted from this new trilogy, anyway.
Aside from maybe Solo this is what I consider the worst Star Wars film. I wasn’t much of a fan of the last Jedi but I was very annoyed by them sweeping its events under the rug. I’m of the opinion that if a series makes a mistake they need to continue in that direction and solve the issue naturally. Just retconning it is lazy. Also Hijacked by Ganon Is one of my most hated tropes in existence and after seeing this I can say seeing it in film doesn’t make it better. In fact I’d say it’s worse than when they do it in games. Because at least when it occurs in games it means you get two unique boss fights (unless your Name is Star Fox Adventures)
I like The Last Jedi, but I get why other people don't. The thing is, whether or not you liked what they did, you can tell from the film that they were TRYING. With Rise of Skywalker it's just nonsense. But it's all fixed because Disney explained some plot holes in the novelization /s.
My jaw almost dropped at the end, I couldn't believe they were just did a repeat of the Return of Jedi scene where the emperor taunts the main character to kill him while in the background a losing battle is being fought and the main character is getting angry
It's funny how they wanted to do away with the Legends continuity yet the sequel trilogy used major plot points from it. Example: - Leia and Han's kid turns to the dark side - Palpatine returns - Mini super weapons -Imperial Remnants And many more I'm probably missing. Overall after what I've seen I'd rather watch "ReBoot the Guardian Code" then this movie. As of now I have yet to check out "The Mandalorian" and I'm looking forward to the seventh season of "The Clone Wars".
That's probably exactly why they did away with the EU, now they can just do the MCU thing where they pick and choose what parts of the Legends material they want to adapt.
@@BullSession True but when the trilogy was announced back in 2012 I and probably many was expecting a completely original story instead of a rehash of the OT. Even those legends elements I mentioned came from original stories.
I've been trying to find that clip from South Park to show people lol. That's ALL I could think about whenever Leia was onscreen. Just terrible. Thank you so much lol
Oh, and I completely forgot they destroyed Anakin's lightsaber in the Last Jedi. That's how much I disliked that movie. For so many reasons, they should have had her sport Luke's green saber.
"The end of the skywalker saga" uh huh. ok. sure. Word on the grapevine is the next saga is a prequel set in the "High Republic" (between TOR and the Prequel era, I guess). After those movies play out my money is on them offering Ridley, Boyega, and Isaac a fuck ton of money to come back and continue the main timeline. It's only a matter of time, imo.
Good review! I'm going to see this movie in a couple hrs here, will post again if my thoughts on it change. I'm entering this movie with pretty much the same opinion as you, going in with meh and assuming I'll leave with meh
So just got back from this movie and I liked it. Albeit there are minor issues but nothing on the scale of last jedi (I didn't really like that movie) I felt like this movie completely made TLJ irrelevant. You could easily watch TFA then skip to this and you wouldnt miss anything besides luke dying. Watching this just made me feel like we got a glimpse of what could of been if they had a well thought out plan all along. Ah well whats done is done and I'm really looking forward to the final episode of Mandalorian!
I feel like the trilogy could have been great if either JJ or RJ had been the creative voice behind all three. IMO most of TLJ's biggest problems (most, not all) stem from things that were set up in force awakens
All I've been doing ever since seeing the film is thought about ways that I would have made it, as petty and childish as it sounds. All in all it was quite a dumpster-fire.
What odds would you give Episode 10 of coming out by 2025?
That's nothing. What odd is there of Star Wars Episode 100 coming out in 2277?
They'll probably get Michael Hefferon to direct that movie while his son writes the screenplay
Its not happening, Disney is moving away from trilogies

40%. idk but i'd guess less than 50%
“Like a crappy fan fiction”
Sooo the entire sequel trilogy.
Exactly
This. A crappy fan fiction written by two different people who failed to properly communicate with each other.
Tom Ffrench “flawed a complex”‘I know you aren’t referring to MuRey sue and the rest of the token brigade lol
Wow this is the most positive review I have seen for this movie.

Thanks for not spoiling! I'll take mediocre over outright bad any day.
Disney needs to stop
They already cut of the golden goose's head, now they're just defiling the corpse.
Let's start a petition to make the entire next trilogy about Baby Yoda becoming a full-on Jedi. I'd sell my organs to see that

Its because this movie is a crappy fan fiction
