Therefore this album is infinitely persisting. To all those random EDM heads, this guy is a brilliant programmer as well. Stop taking acid and learn a thing or two about programming.
After listening to all the other Deadmouse albums leading up to this one, at first I didn't like it overall minus a few songs that I felt were good upon 1st go around and this was probably the weaker of his works. Fast forward to today - several years later, it's gotten better and better the more I listen to it. It's hard for me to make the argument that this isn't his best album now.
I am a huge fan of NIN and hearing this just as it came up on my feed was crazy because I just heard elements of their style. I was just thinking, "Wow, deadmau5 must be musically influenced by NIN". A couple tracks later I swear I hear Trent's voice on the track. I was pleasantly surprised and I'm gonna give this future plays undoubtedly. Thanks you two!
Other deadmau5 albums have amazing songs and okay songs, this one’s consistent track by track and feels like its own journey. This has to be my favorite album of his because of that.
Disagree on the okay songs.. almost everything he makes is pure gold. I thought the same thing until I realized that the songs just took time to grow on me.
Errors in my Bread, Bleed, A Moment To Myself and Coelacanth II... short, but undeniably the best in this album. Every second is crafted compared to first 3 albums.
He's fucking amazing. Out of this world, for sure. Check out _iO if you want out of this world beats too. He's on the Mai5trap Label too. But sadly passed away at a v young age. Rop _iO
This is one of the most underrated albums I know. It is strange but fascinating. The capital vices of Christianity (aka the seven deadly sins) is the predominant theme throughout the album. Each of the sins is given its respective song, interspersed throughout the album. These songs (Avaritia, Gula, Acedia, Invidia, Superbia, and Ira), are all beautifully composed piano pieces with a melancholic character, suggesting a connection to their respective sin. These songs do indeed invoke feelings of guilt, jadedness, and just plain sadness, but does this in a contemplative and self-aware way. This ties into the Janus-faced nature of the album as a whole. The quiet piano is juxtaposed with a distorted electric sound. The sound is violent, impatient, and fast-paced. The song "survivalism," a remix of the nine-inch nails song by the same name, is an excellent example of the main theme and is chosen by Joel for this exact reason. The song, I believe, describes an intrinsic drive to consume. The lyrics "Mother nature is a whore," exemplify this, and I think this is what the central theme of the album is concerning: Consumerism and the feelings of fun/thrill/guilt/loneliness/sadness that comes with it.
My favorite songs are Ice Age remix Infra Super Turbo Pigcart Racer Terrors in my Head Somewhere Up Here (W/ Drop the Poptart) Invidia Survivalism Mercedes Bleed Monday Moment to Myself

Heartbreaking moment on the album, just the pure euphoria you get from Mercedes with it's epic spacey chord progressions and then straight into well you know :(
If the world was about to end, this would be a cool song to listen to... it's like sad but turns into a "who gives a fck about it, just deal with it and move on" vibe.

This is amazing study music. It really puts me in a mind state that allows high productivity.
I see why deadmau5 said that this is the first album of him that he really considers an album
