This is a great " trip around the block" album to play on those long walks where you really have no destination or set path in mind... mau5's made some more energetic and catchier stuff for sure, but this is still my favorite album he's done.
Huh, I'd never head this before! This sounds a lot more techno than his later stuff. Techno btw is a genre and not a word to describe all electronic music. It sounds like this, dark, mysterious, and "robotic". But still, it has that Deadmau5 flair, despite it sounding so different to his later stuff.
can you or anyone expand on this techno vs edm vs progressive house thing? ive lisened for 10+ years and before that bjork but never fully understood where techno ends and everything else begins

@@mrsleepyshow hey, great to hear that! music production has so much to learn and, for me, it helps me appreciate the value that goes into the pieces i enjoy everyday. If you're getting back to making music, id say recreating tracks and learning from the basics really helps you put your mind into the piece and have a mindset like that of an actual producer, but if you want to go further with your hobby, i think you should explore new sounds and stand out
Have anyone seen District 9? The sounds in Fustercluck is the same/very similar to the sounds you hear in the background throughout the movie. I first thought it might have been sampled from there but obviously this album came out before the Movie...
which makes it more interesting. Where did Mau5 sample the sound from? Is it actually the same sound or did he produce the sound himself and the fact that it sounds exactly the same is merely just a coincidence?
It is possible that both deadmau5 and Blomkamp’s sound designer pulled from the same source. Wouldn’t be the first time 2 unrelated productions applied the same sound effect.

Vexillology was released in 2006. District 9 was released in 2009.
That's what I'm saying.

I'm a huge deadmau5 fan but don't really like this album that much. It's all drums and no melody.
who asked
It's club music made for dancing, not listening.
However, Mau5 has plenty of other tracks made for listening if you look through his catalog.
