As a casual viewer of NotITG, Seeing Spooty pass Possessed by the blood moon had my jaw physically drop. Its my favorite rythm game track, and seeing it passed was surreal, since I genuinely thought it was impossible. Just wow
"if the mod scale is a 20 point scale, then why am I playing a 22?" I think this might've been the best moment of GDQ this year, the reactions alone...
Followed by "I have a 92 on this, too.", blowing everyones mind, it was like the best moment. The entire run was amazing but this was pure entertainment gold.
this showcase was so hype, from the hype of just hitting the incentive goal, to spooty's incredible play, to the incredible trio on the couch, to the charts themselves, god
This commentary is amazing. By building up and explaining concepts as they go, they actually managed to make me understand how a human being with human eyes could complete these impossible looking tracks. And explaining what each track was focused on is great for translating their creative vision to a layperson for whom it would otherwise mostly be a blur of arrows (and pointing out lots of fun memes).
Best part is the couch freaking out at the bonus section. Bonus showcases will often have things to impress the audience, it's rare to also impress the couch.
people managing the stream layout is also freaking out LMAO 1:54:58 changed from 15mins, to a shocked face est was saying "i can't even" when the run ended, which switched at sound 1:59:33, right along the clap emoji hypetrain part
The moment when Spooty clears Doppelganger and the couch is shocked, only for Spooty to say he already had a 92 on it, everyone goes "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A 92!?" is so funny
Couch: _"readable"_ I do not think that word means what you think it means. Holy carp that was incredible. Great commentary and fantastic runner. And nobar! For almost 2 hours! What?!? O_o
Congrats on the AGDQ showcase and that killer finale of donation goal into the whole 20+ block. I'm not much of a player since my reading and reaction speed just make me trip over my feet when just 4 notes are on screen at a time; but it is still really inspiring to see the NotITG crowd show up hard, and after I watched some of them by stumbling on the ol' Windeu Hates You tourney recordings several years ago, it really is cool to see how much legacy they've built for themselves with just how many old references they keep packing in even now. Grats to the community and hope they're given the respect they deserve during and after the event as well
I used to watch this guy at the local Brunswick zone YEARS ago and was always stunned at him playing difficult songs with no bar. I am -SHOCKED- that I just happened to see this video in my recommended. Happy to see you still playing Spooty!
looking at these beatmaps it feel like im trying to decipher egyptian hieroglyphics and these guys are like tenured archeologists who are the pinnacle of their field. wtf
Managed to catch this live last night and it was one of the best runs I've ever seen on agdq! Commentary was hilarious and entertaining, the visuals were amazing, and the runner was spectacular! What a joy to watch!!!
Was looking forward to this run ever since it was put on the schedule. And goodness gracious, did it ever exceed expectations. Incredible play by Spooty, incredible commentary by the couch, and incredible spectacle from the charts. The bonus round especially had me evenly split between completely enraptured and rolling with laughter. Best run of the marathon!
As if high level Stepmania gameplay wasn't impressive enough, this blew my mind. I had no idea there are this complex mod maps with a community playing and making them!
and i thought crossbeats was unreadable. holy shit. half of this was me trying to keep up with the charts, giving up, looking at the feetwork cam, also giving up, then just saddling on for the visuals and the music. what a mind-blowing run. having the devs on couch is such a bonus, too, the blatant lack love and passion they have for this game is goddamn infectious. edit: three words for the bonus stage: what. the fuck.
Was VERY pleasantly surprised by one of my favorite vocaloid songs showing up during this run at 40:20 !! Just in case anybody's looking for it, the song is Rotten Heresy and Chocolate by Pinocchio-P, and I believe specifically this is Soraru's cover. Incredible run!!!
I have player DDR for fun for a while and I can't even read most of this mess they have let us seen, let alone will my legs and feet to move in the right direction. Yeah, the runner played those stages before, but you can not remember all of that. This was like watching a Olympic game of sorts!!! I'm flabbergasted
What a god. I've been playing DDR for roughly two years and the mere idea of trying out mods, much less sight read one, makes me nervous. In The Groove and NotITG mods in particular really are something else.
It makes me so happy to see notitg on gdq. So far it looks like it may even be a staple which would make me so happy. I wish I could’ve been there to see chat’s reaction.
I fell asleep during the scheduled run because it was 3am in Germany. So glad I went back and caught up on the bonus run, it's nuts! Spooty is superhuman
My highlight for SGDQ 2021 was Maimai, and I thought that would be hard to top. The fact that this was just as fun to watch as that and probably MORE fun to watch I really don't understand, but I don't care! This is a freaking fantastic run! Also someone in the Twitch chat said "I'd rate this a 'what' out of 'huh'" or something like that and I just find that hilarious, that could really apply to any of the run. I think it was like at the 22 out of 20 but I could be wrong.
as much as i would love to play this game, i've been trying for the past 3 days and several hours to install a song pack of some kind for stepmania and i just cannot get it to work no matter what i do. if anyone has any advice, PLEASE tell me. i would really appreciate it.

The song installation process for Stepmania isn't very user friendly, sadly. The file structure for Stepmania songs is [your game's installation folder]\Songs\[group folder]\[song name], with the latter containing all the data for one song, such as the music itself, the chart data, banner and background graphics, or in the case of a lot of mods like what's been on display in this showcase, scripts, sprites and sound effects. If you haven't been to the NotITG Discord server yet, we'll be able to help you out further there if necessary!
They mention it quickly near the start but this was part of a tournament a while back where the players were sight-reading it for the first time. Spooty was there for the tournament originally and has had plenty of practice for it since then! (The vods for the original tournament are on youtube and Taro's channel.)
Just seeing it now, is NotITG really that fun? It looks like Stepmania but there’s some little kid waving in your eyes or shaking your monitor so you can’t play as well Idk

Our jaws were on the freaking floor the entire run, getting to those "showing off" encores was a complete mind fuck
Followed by "I have a 92 on this, too.", blowing everyones mind, it was like the best moment. The entire run was amazing but this was pure entertainment gold.

Spooty: "If the mods scale is a 20-point scale, then why am I playing a 22?"
Also Spooty: "I have a 92% on this."
This commentary is amazing. Runners: Can we do touhou at GDQ???
GDQ: Eh, Maybe next year
Stepmania gang: We got you.
This is impressive, confusing and absolutely awesome
Couch: _"readable"_
I do not think that word means what you think it means. Holy carp that was incredible. Great commentary and fantastic runner. And nobar! For almost 2 hours! What?!? O_o
ive been playing rhythm games for a while now and this is the most terrifying thing ive ever seen in my life. great work!
This is unquestionably the most impressive thing I’ve seen at any AGQD.
Previous years' Stepmania showcases made me want to try playing Stepmania, this makes me want to try programming one of these wild looking files
Those mods are incredible! I've never seen something so evil, yet so amazing!
I can't explain how excited I was to see this, I've been watching NotITG since 2016 and I'm glad it was finally showcased
Unbelievable that SpootyBiscuit was able to keep his combo for so long though all the chaos on screen!
"I can't clear the 16, I'd need to practice it more", he says after clearing a 22.

Best showcase I've seen in GDQ. Amazing commentary and gameplay.
This was the most amazing run i've seen in all GDQ events
That was absolutely, completely absurd. I rate this exhibition 22/20.
I especially love the fact that the *game* broke before SpootyBiscuit did.
I used to watch this guy at the local Brunswick zone YEARS ago and was always stunned at him playing difficult songs with no bar. I am -SHOCKED- that I just happened to see this video in my recommended. Happy to see you still playing Spooty!
This may be unironically the single greatest display of skill I have ever seen.
looking at these beatmaps it feel like im trying to decipher egyptian hieroglyphics and these guys are like tenured archeologists who are the pinnacle of their field. wtf

It's officially been confirmed that Spooty will return with NotITG for SGDQ 2022! And it'll be 2 player! Time to get excited!
As if high level Stepmania gameplay wasn't impressive enough, this blew my mind. I had no idea there are this complex mod maps with a community playing and making them!
If this had an real audience (like a live show) I would bet the crowd would go WILD
and i thought crossbeats was unreadable. holy shit. half of this was me trying to keep up with the charts, giving up, looking at the feetwork cam, also giving up, then just saddling on for the visuals and the music. what a mind-blowing run. having the devs on couch is such a bonus, too, the blatant lack love and passion they have for this game is goddamn infectious.

Always an awesome addition to any gdq of any year !
Thank you everyone for all of your hard work !
I hadn't looked into the modscene since attending UKSRT in 2016 and whoa nelly
sad I missed this live but had a lot of fun watching this!

Good stuff. Been following those people for a while, I'm glad that NotITG is starting to get the attention it deserves
the developer commentary on top of the impressive showcase added to one of the best showcases ever
10:20 "This chart is Markedly a little bit harder"
Holy hell I am not seizure prone and this seems hard enough as it is!!!!
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A 92 ON IT!?!"

Amazing to see my favorite game on AGDQ
I fell asleep during the scheduled run because it was 3am in Germany. So glad I went back and caught up on the bonus run, it's nuts! Spooty is superhuman
What a fucking legend, this is beyond impressive.
Been loving these rhythm game showcases that have been at the events more recently, more people need to get into rhythm games.
I am so proud of this community :)
dear lord that is a LOT of dancing. what an excellent showing by spooty!
2:07:25 - gotta love the GDQ commentators reacting to seeing NotITG for the first time, lmao 😂
I miss being apart of the community there but im glad to see its striving. i hope to talk again soon,
That was bananas

This rocked, thank you~ (priase windeu)
I was kinda hoping to see Testify just to see the bitrate go completely kaput.

Great run! pretty sure everyone is curious as to where and how to buy that hard dance pad too! looks like an LTEK EX PRO 2!
notitg my ABSOLUTE beloved
Up up down up remember it always
37:10 Look at him go. Look at that chaos demon groove.
NotITG at GDQ! my heart is so happy 😊
So good.
As an old school DDR vet, this was incredibly phenomenal.
The best run of this AGDQ~!
That was beautiful
this is amazing!
Spooty you absolute madman.
1:12:12 God damn it

Jesus christ, Spooty. Amazing.
wow glad StepMania get showcase in GDQ again
So if we watch this back, we can sort of tell what his results screen for the marathon should have looked like, right?
I watched it live it was so mindblowing D:
The extra runs were fantastic due to commentary but the main run was also really good
Yeah!! They Brought Back DDR!!!! My favorite!! 😊
Love this!!!
Society was not meant to handle numbers greater than 20.
Glad to see more rhythm games at gdq, didnt know there was people who "competitively" play not itg
same
This is just an impressive physical feat
The only response to rhythm games at GDQs is “HOW?!?!?”
My jaw hurts from being open for the whole run
does anyone know where to find a list of all these charts that were played?
Would anybody know what dance pad he is using?
Sorry, but what is the Song starting at 24:40? Couldnt hear it right what the commentator said
Vigor - Yooh
Love it!
mmm groovin
This looks like the basic premise for the game was the devs thinking "how many different ways can we really screw over the players?" 😂😈😈😈
Where did you get that dance mat? Always wanted a metal dance pad
These settings are an epileptic nightmare. How....
anyone have a link to the song at 26:41?
the song title is Citrus - Kamome Sano
Did he mention what dance mat he was using? Have been looking into getting a dance mat myself. :)
an l-tek pad i believe

💙 NotITG
so the showcase was already prepared, right? That wasn't a sightread?! I am a bit confused there.
They mention it quickly near the start but this was part of a tournament a while back where the players were sight-reading it for the first time. Spooty was there for the tournament originally and has had plenty of practice for it since then! (The vods for the original tournament are on youtube and Taro's channel.)
The course list originally came from a sight read event, they said? But this showcase was practiced.
this specific showcase is not a sightread, but everything up to the medley (and also Doppelganger) was made for sightreading tournaments
It was never a sightread
But they played modfiles made for a sightread tournament
Yes, all the files played in this showcase were practised by Spooty before the event, as with most of the showcases.
36:20 XD “Just turn your brain off!”
Just seeing it now, is NotITG really that fun? It looks like Stepmania but there’s some little kid waving in your eyes or shaking your monitor so you can’t play as well
Idk
Who makes the hard pad the runner is using? It's beautiful.
