- After years of hiding her denture from her friends and family, 25-year-old Ashley Burris got the smile she always wanted recently from Dr Kenny Wilstead in Garland, Texas.
Burris was missing her front teeth and had been wearing a denture for several years, even hiding it from her husband and children, who were not allowed into the bathroom while she brushed her teeth.

This guy literally changes lives!
I have hid my smile for years because of my badly crooked teeth and I’m 26 years old. My parents couldn’t afford to get me braces when I was a kid so it just didn’t happen, but I managed to FINALLY save up enough money for them a month ago. Today my braces are on and I will have them for about two years and I cannot wait to smile freely and not cover my mouth when I laugh. Teeth are the first thing people see when you talk or laugh or smile so it’s a huge blow to the confidence having bad teeth.
I'll never understand why dentistry has to be so unaffordable. Teeth are so essential to every human being.....yet this industry has made it only easily available to mostly the wealthy. Most middle class and poor just have to put even the minutest dental work on the back burner due to cost, never mind cosmetic dentistry needed for mental confidence...that's just for millionaires period! If you want great teeth...functional and beautiful....you need to win the lottery!
I went to the dentist,3 weeks ago.I had 2 cavities that had just started.I go every 6 months...I brush,floss,have a water pick and a tongue brush and a tongue scraper.I was in that chair for exactly 30 minutes.It cost $380.00.
I was lucky we had the stimulus coming or we couldn’t have afforded it.Oy veh!
@ ibidibi. How much of that $380 do you think ends up in the dentists pocket?
@@toothrestorer6588 You must be either a dentist,or related to one.I know s/he has employees to pay and other bills.But I have known too many people who cannot afford to have a tooth fixed,just pulled.$380.00 for a half hour of work is extremely high,where I live.I don’t live in Beverly Hills.

@@toothrestorer6588 Much more than I or my husband and children get.Where we live is rural and not a lot of high paying jobs.I appreciate my dentist...he makes sure it is as painless as possible,and I let him know that,every time I visit.Our other dentist retired and he found this one to take his place.I have no arguments EXCEPT price wise.He charges twice what our old dentist,did.
And you can hem and haw,all you want.Too many people are losing teeth,jobs and self respect,because of high prices.
This Dentist is truly an Angel! After years of neglect and then domestic violence, I myself have not yet met a dentist who wants to truly help since I don't have heavy pockets. It's a shame I can't afford to hide away in my home. Regardless of my unfortunate luck, I cry tears of happiness for this woman and those who are given a second chance! It warms my heart to know there is hope!

I have a similar situation. My teeth were healthy as hell, unfortunately after years of domestic violence my teeth are now rotting out of my mouth. My teeth used to be so nice and healthy looking. Now they're grey looking and I have a receding gum line. I also have a lot of cavities. I'm working on it, and I hope I find a dentist as good as this one. Much love, stay strong xx

I almost fell out of my chair! I'm a 33 yr old mom and hairdresser with dentures. Had to get them when I was 24, my husband and kids have also NEVER seen me without them! I go through so much hiding them from everyone! Extreme pain from not letting my mouth rest for fear of someone seeing me without them in! I will NOT LOOK in the mirror, and my smile is crooked from them pulling my all my teeth and ripping a nerve out! He is literally changing lives!! God bless him!! He is an Angel!!
what induced the tooth loss at such a scale where you needed dentures at only 24?
@@fettmaneiii4439 I had 3 pregnancies in a row and it drained all the calcium from my teeth, so they became weak and brittle and began to crack and break, the doc said they were beyond restoration so he talked me into full dentures! I will say that I was ALOT happier after the dentures bc I could smile again, but had no idea how much it would effect me mentally and physically down the road! They are definitely better than what I had though :)

@@reybat4969 well to be honest, they were 3 miscarriages unfortunately :( I had complications with my lady parts and couldn't carry to full term and kept having miscarriages, and due to the fact that they were back to back, it took a toll on my body in ways I didn't know was possible! But God is good and I now have 3 beautiful children that I was blessed with later on in life and would do it all over again if I had to :)

@@pdswrld5200 dude go to a dentist for a teeth cleaning, I thought I had that too a while ago but it was just because I hadnt been in for a cleaning for so long that the plaque calcifies and appears that way. If you do have gingivitis though the only way is with dental assistance so please go see someone.
@@pdswrld5200 Yea, brush and floss your f***ing teeth. As a practicing DDS, you need to brush and floss. If your DDS hasn't stressed this, find DDS that does.
This really shows what a lot of people take teeth for granted. Appreciate everything you have when you have it because lot of people don’t.

I wish more dentists were like this gentleman. At 31 I had to have my remaining 24 teeth pulled in one go because my dentist told me at the rate mine were decaying due to vitamin deficiency and a pregnancy that they couldn't be saved and had to be removed. Then the dentures my insurance covered don't even fit properly :(

I broke a front tooth that was already dead and not much the dentist could do with it. Only solution was an implant. Glad I was able to afford it. Implants when done right are awesome. Have had mine for years now.

What a great dentist. I wish I had someone like that to help me. I have sjogrens and didn't know I had it till it was too late. I want my beautiful smile back. Because of this disease my skin is drying out my face is starting to look droopy and on top of that my lips shrunk. Yuk! So many problems.
