Watching your videos makes me feel like there’s actually a point to life. I feel so empty most of the time but when I watch your videos my problems and worries fade away to the tune of engines Erving and plasma cutters cutting. Thank you for all the videos you have made that have made me feel better about myself and life. I really appreciate you guys. Keep up the good work I’m looking forward to many more years of videos
Though I have no business having or any relationship to firetrucks I just saw an imported Y61 Patrol firetruck for sale, I believe in Massachusetts, in a classified in the US. Was one of the few Y61 Patrols popping stateside at the moment, another being an RHD up near Washington.
Oh boy, you may regret not sealing the out side of the styrofoam foundation walls. I didn’t see any perf-pipe to drain water at footer. With all that sandy soil I’d be surprised if you don’t have water draping in at wall/ floor joint. With no insulation under the slab, most of your heat will be heating the ground.
@GrindHardPlumbingCo, you guys have always made very cool stuff can't wait to see all the new stuff you have in mind and can't wait to see the shop as a finished dream shop thanks for all the great content
I do agree, can't imagine what they'll be doing with a full shop. I'm sure there'll still be the "man working in shack" feel that most of us came for and identify with. Excited to see what comes next, congratulations.
Im having hard time accepting that its been 2 years since you dug that out... so stoked to see it finally coming together. Everything good comes with time.
The Joy and relief on Ethan's face at the end of this video tells the entire story. This is a seriously proud moment for all of you. Congrats. and enjoy.
YAY, I have been looking forward to seeing this build start! Can't wait to see what you create for the future of this channel! I just know it will make future projects so much better! Congrats on the beginning of a new era guys!
Heat pipes should have to hot water around the outside edge before they go into the inner field. Rebar ties are way better than zip ties. Shouldn't have a cold joint in concrete walls either nor should you backfill until the concrete has proper time to setup. You should really have some sort of dam-proofing on the outside walls for water drainage. Other than that it looks sweet.
The roof is gonna be leaning back and pushing any snow or water off of it and I'm sure 90% of the water is going to go in a gutter and either be drained out and away from the shop... all in all sand soaks water like nobody business. If you know anything about how water mixes with sand, it'll create a nice solid mold around the foundation. It's like building a sand castle if you could imagine that. You all act like you know everything, but you don't, lmao
I’m glad I’m not the only one that spotted a lot of these issues, I get it’s a shed, but it doesn’t take that much to do it right, can’t do much about it now, but I do enjoy your content boys
Awesome blog about your new shop! I've been a woodworker/handyman since forever, and wanted to make a shop for myself. Heated floors where you're at is brilliant! Idaho is such a great place! Aloha!
It makes me really happy to see them grow and achive what they have done. This guys rocks, it reminds me of people from arround south america, always grinding to achive their goals. Congrats for the big step!
hmm, seing that the gound is level with the top of the rear wall, you could make a 2nd floor with a door/opening so you can drive in and store some of the mini machines out of the cold during winter. But i guess you could store stuff in the old shop too.
So happy for you guys. Going to be great. Looking forward to you having your Dream Garage. Should have a Grind Hard Party for you guys and your fams to celebrate.
Congratulations fellas! I was excited when you started digging a few years back, glad it’s finally coming into fruition! Ethan doesn’t need anything fancy to build killer stuff but he sure deserves it!
Great job fellas . Ethans made incredible things and use out of that tiny old shop . Can't wait to see what he can do with this , Plan for 5 yrs from now . Best of luck .
Dude, rebar should be connected with metal tie wire. Zipties will snap and the rebar will no longer provide the same support to the foundation as the ground settles and the concrete cracks. The rebar also needs to be on risers that hold it about in the center of the thickness of the slab
as an engineer this was tough to watch. in addition to your comments, backfilling a severely under reinforced retaining wall a day after pouring it while a guy stands on the other side is dangerous as hell
@@ihatejoefitz drainage could be an issue here, specially with that design of the roof, I was hoping to see some sort of drainage system instead of backfill
Tie wire does not contribute to structural integrity, it ensures the proper position of the reinforcement. I can only assume they used zip ties so the tie wire did not puncture the underfloor heating tube.

When you were cutting out that window with a hand saw that cracked me up since you have a sawzall lol. Then you finally broke out the sawzall to finish the job. Great video! This new garage is going to be premium!
Looks great! Only concerns are that you didn't use a waterproof membrane or sealer before backfilling, and you probably have a void in the concrete under your window well. Typically you have two drill a couple 4 or 5 in holes in the bottom sill and fill the concrete through there or use 2 2 X 4's with a gap between them for the bottom board and fill between them with concrete. Also, didn't notice any saw cuts in your pad to guide the cracks.

Got the last bare metal premium bottle opener and a t-shirt to help support. I'm kinda new here, about a year, but it's been awesome seeing what you do and watching you grow. Glad I got here in time to see this step unfold! Genuinely, truly happy for you.
I'm 13minutes into the video and that's my only question so far. I'm from Australia, and not a concretor, but been involved in a few pours and a bit of building work in general. And from what I know, leaving the reo laying on the plastic is just plain wrong. Rule of thumb is 2 inches of concrete covering steel. Not sure if common practice is different in the states/Idaho?
@@johnjosephson9277 It's not laying on the plastic, there's a few rocks here and there holding the rebar up. Might not be high enough but it's not as bad as you think. I love all your teams skills!! Like you, I save old materials! We built a blackberry trellis out of 23 year old ripped deck wood from our old house that I saved when we built a new deck. I can’t wait to see what you all do with the new space!
The new concrete slab is your new loading zone. Go to the top of the concrete remove all of the sand behind it and you've got a lifted loading ramp. Make it large enough to back your trucks into and you're set. Now your jump got really good.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!! I am so excited you guys will finally have a big shop dedicated to these crazy builds, also Ethan might finally be able to start "finishing" up the house until he decides he wants to renovate and change. Truly an amazing channel and business you guys have created :)
I love that you're getting this, and I'm also so frustrated, because I have land to build a similar thing on, but it's going to cost an absurd amount of money to do it. You'd think buying a steel building and doing the concrete yourself would be cheaper, but at least in MA, it saves, like, zero money. It's so frustrating as someone who wants to do the work myself. But yeah, as stated, I'm so happy that you are getting this space. Nobody deserves it more than y'all.
So pleased for you guys, well deserved, and thanks very much for doing this stage in one go…. Most people would stretch it out over 10 or so vids. You can sense the excitement in all you guys… well done and thanks again
Really excited for you guys to have a much larger shop, You all have made some really need and insane projects just out of tiny shed. You all really really deserved this new shop and worked hard for it. can't wait to see the future.
Im so happy to see this finally happening. You guys have earned it. I hope when its done, you just stand back and take some time to absorb everything youve built. Not only the shop, but your entire lives.
the donut was insane! that footage should be used so much! the way the tire comes up and just rotates full 360 in the air same level is a thing of beauty!!
Proud of you guys. You've made an incredible team in a niche part of building things. Always enjoyed this channel and can't wait to watch as this next chapter unfolds.
Would have been a great time to put in a French drain around the 3 walls before you back filled.. lost opportunity for sure!! The building with the heated floor is top notch!! Don’t know about the zip ties though.. and didn’t see any stands for the rebar… but I’m just an old carpenter not an engineer! The shop is great! Oh yeah ! Probably shouldn’t use pressure treated wood for the windows the concrete will rot the treated wood.
I always loved seeing you guys build what y’all build with the older and so to say “sub par” equipment/tools. But I’m so proud and happy for you guys getting a shop, some awesome video sponsors, and much more space! Keep it up guys!
1:50 - a familiar scenario seems to be playing out everywhere😅. Amazing video, great music and most importantly, a lot of honest work, as always. Thank you so much for another prefect video and fingers crossed that all goes well and you all are doing well.
You guys for sure need to plan for a beam trolley with a couple 1/2 ton chain falls running down the center, length wise. I've done 4 of them, two for myself, two for others, with standard snow load trusses. The "trick" is how the load is distributed, before others say it's dangerous, the point loading is so widespread when the trusses are prepped properly, I've never had an issue in 40 years. Used mine just today to lift my Talaria front end up for a gearbox change.
Hey some tips, I know it's late but you needed a thick concrete section (without the heating tubes for the shoplift mounting area). Also should have put an aggregate drain pipe before backfilling to get rid of the water/moisture issues in the future. Also, if you have to cut into heating tubes, you can re-do them on top of slab and fill over them
Some would say a heated floor is a luxury, but I'd say given the snow y'all get, it's a requirement. I couldn't live somewhere that snowed that much, I hate the snow! Keep up the great work guys!

the donut was insane! that footage should be used so much! the way the tire comes up and just rotates full 360 in the air same level is a thing of beauty!!
Loving the construction system, never seen zip ties used to hold rebar together. It's going to an amazing garage. Niiicccee.
So awesome you guys deserve a nice shop. Can’t wait to see it all set up see what kinda stuff you can create.
Congrats guys y’all deserve it! Y’all def grind hard! I hope it’s everything you want it to be!
I have been waiting to see this video for YEARS! Can't wait to see what you can create with the new garage!
I always loved seeing you guys build what y’all build with the older and so to say “sub par” equipment/tools. But I’m so proud and happy for you guys getting a shop, some awesome video sponsors, and much more space! Keep it up guys!
Heck yes! This is awesome and much needed for Ethan and the GHPC team! Very excited for this build for y’all!
That was done excellently. Nice one. Looking forward to the upcoming content.
Glad yall are finally getting a shop upgrade it's much deserved, keep up the good work guys!
I love this channel so much. found it awhile ago and so happy i get to watch the progress of your guys’ builds and lives, and channel. lets go!
Th8s makes me happy. Can't wait for the fire truck. Looking real nice fellas
1:50 - a familiar scenario seems to be playing out everywhere😅. Amazing video, great music and most importantly, a lot of honest work, as always. Thank you so much for another prefect video and fingers crossed that all goes well and you all are doing well.
I've been waiting to see this for so long! I'm so pumped to see this built. I love shops!!
Enjoyed your build process, glad you put in hydronic heat,
You guys for sure need to plan for a beam trolley with a couple 1/2 ton chain falls running down the center, length wise.
Congrats on the new shop, that's awesome! Can't wait to watch it get built out.
Hey some tips, I know it's late but you needed a thick concrete section (without the heating tubes for the shoplift mounting area). Also should have put an aggregate drain pipe before backfilling to get rid of the water/moisture issues in the future. Also, if you have to cut into heating tubes, you can re-do them on top of slab and fill over them
Awesome shop. Been too long coming. Nice. Can't wait to see it all together and you guys using it
Some would say a heated floor is a luxury, but I'd say given the snow y'all get, it's a requirement. I couldn't live somewhere that snowed that much, I hate the snow! Keep up the great work guys!
