Gee, this story is crazy. Persona 3-5 seem simple compared to it. I also find it funny how when the party confronts shadow versions of themselves, everyone is just like "Yeah, that's a part of me." while in Persona 4 everyone is like, "No! You're not me!" Gotta fight them either way though so shadows just like to fight I guess.
More mature cast in EP specially, accepting your shadow is a signal of that. Baofu accepting he can't solve everything by himself and that he goes questionable lenghts to achieve his goals. Katsuya accepting he actually has hatred for his father and brother for ruinung his life. Ulala accepting she feels a lot of envy towards Maya and lota of self hatred. It's really a masterpiece of game.
Fun fact: the Kirijo Group (Mitsuru's family) was actually once part of the Nanjo group. Mitsuru's dad mentioned that their family split from them years before the events of P3 Meaning, 1 and 2 happened in the timeline before 3 The question is, which Side does Persona 3 take place in, the original Persona 2 World that was corrupted by the Chaos created by the villains. Or is it the one after the second in the 2-uology ? I'm thinking it might be after the first P2 as the Fall was already destined. But, it would make way more sense if it's after the Ending of the next game.
This game I swear, if only the gameplay and the dungeons weren’t so clanky people would had appreciated it better. Seriously, going into Persona 2 for the story and these characters is everything ❤️😊
Ehh the dungeons themselves are fine if sometimes even good or great BUT its the high encounter rate that often makes them a slog yet this HAS a solution use an item to reduce the rate or fuse a person with the ability to.

I was so glad they finally localized this game. Not so glad that we didn't get the remaster of Eternal Punishment. That was the game that got me into the Persona series, and eventually into SMT.
My favorite Persona, and story from any RPG ever. I adore these characters. This game's story is totally bonkers and I love it. I never thought I'd play this in English, and Soul Hackers too
I don't usually comment but I wanted to say that your videos are amazing and you're doing a great job. I loved this game as a kid though I didn't understand half of it, this video brought back so many memories and emotions, I hope you do Eternal Punishment next, I never got to play that game and it always made me sad that the journey of Innocent Sin ends with everyone forgetting about each other and what they've been through. Just a slight correction, but Shoji Meguro was only the director of the PSP remake. Someone else was the director for the original. Not sure whom as the credits doesn't mention it, but it seems to me that the Producer filled some of the directory roles so that would be Cozy Okada.
Also the only character death I've ever seen where the characters not only don't forget they have powers but have a legitimate reason for it not to work.
I really wish they kept the original sprites they’re so pretty and these really don’t do the game justice... anyway thank you for covering this I’m glad IS is getting more attention! If anyone hasn’t played it I’d really give it a chance the constant new dialogue everywhere is really fun, and it feels like you really get to know everyone, without a social link ending and watch the characters interact.

I probably wouldn't feel this way if I had played through the whole game myself(Or maybe I'd feel like this even more) but.. I hate when games end like this. "Oop! It was all a dream, didn't happen, didn't matter" I hate that so much, feels like a WHOLE waste of my time. But at least here, they used the concept that the game has been building on the entire time. So it wasn't like outta nowhere. I can't be TOO upset here. It was a pretty fun ride regardless.

Hmmm...... I feel like they might reference another character when P6 officially comes. The Suou family hasn't been mentioned yet in a modern game, perhaps the next Protagonist could be of that family or a major character

Something's been bugging me about the persona series and I figured I could get some answers here. I've noticed that the persona series likes to have characters from other persona games show up like persona 1 characters show up in persona 2 and persona characters from 3 show up in 4 exc.and here's what bugs me no persona 2 characters show up in 3 is there a reason why did something happen to them? I've looked into it couldn't really find much so I was hoping a fan of the series might know something I've missed or something
Writers of the modern Persona just decided not to use them as characters. And actually... P1 and P2 did sort of appear in P3. Kirijo Group was part of Nanjo Group before becoming the own thing. And you find most of P1 and P2 character on show "Who's Who" if you check TV in dorms on day of character birthday.
But people start hate p3, p4, and p5, because part of story and event is fk useless (more like waste of time part of story) definitely part of cliche event. P3, p4, and p5 not enough darkest story and not enough to carry titles shin megami tensei series, only real carry shin megami tensei series is p1 and p2 perfect carry dark story and story about characters from the past.
I tried playing IS but jesus I've had a horrible experience I'm talking since two years ago I've had trouble with the emulation experience, uninstalling, installing again, replaying the first 4 hours like 20 fucking times and deciding if I should play the psp or psx version god I'm tired and the fucking battle encounters which are not as bad as P1 but God it's still horrible. I'm just gonna watch this and go to eternal punishment which I hear is MILES better. anyways, that's it for my rant. thanks.

While I do think the gameplay can get overly tedious, and that the plot is very messy, rushes through a lot of stuff, and has plot points that resemble some of Final Fantasy 8's... not great parts, I do think more people should give this game and the other older Persona games a chance in general. Far from the best, but there's a lot of greatness and ambition if you can give it a chance

P2:IS is absolutely an amazing game, one of those games that made me cry (when Maya died) and my 2nd favorite JRPG ever after Tales of Berseria..
