I try to watch every week, Sunday evening for me. It is so interesting to hear about different art supplies and all the tips about all sorts of things. I took my Tesla model 3 out today with the Tesla Club, had a fun drive with my son. 😊

Haven't seen the last few sat chats but I do love your hair, it takes 5 or 10 yrs off of your already youthful look! I'd say you look no older than 30! AMAZING, My mother always told me the older you get the more Bangs make you look younger and the younger you are the older they make you look and I haven't found her to be wrong about it.❤😊

Draggie on the groundie, lol. I love it. I was that same kid who loved to find a stationary store and find a good pen. Organizing my desk! We could be sisters! I’m still that way and hide my good stapler , scissors, from family. They have supplies I’ve stocked for them and they will still seek out mine and lose!
Today will be 72 before we drop back to the 50’s tomorrow, in Southern California. Happy ground hog day. ❤❤

I read decades ago that Cybill Shepherd used Vaseline as a facial moisturizer. I have off and on, too. It sure helps winter skin. The unboxing sounds fun and so does your print party. Happy sat chat! You always look great! Having friends over to geli print sounds fun…. I give you so much credit because I know how hard it must be to do the admin stuff for your business! And we appreciate it because your videos are informative and enjoyable. I too am guilty of not using my time “on the couch” well..I’ve tried in the past but it’s been uncomfortable for my arthritic body LOl…anyway looking forward to all the videos coming up! Hullo Lindsay, making Art is NEVER WASTED! Yes, I know that you “feel” as if if your not recording it why bother? Because YOU Need an outlet! My instructor in college for watercolor and printmaking was the same person. He approached both mediums so differently. In printmaking you decide on the size of your print this determines the plate size you will use. You create rough sketches then refine your ideas. You layout the entire idea, slowly adding details, making choices color or not? Multiple colors? Refine, refine, refine! Test print after test print until you decide this is what you want! Then you set aside the 20 or 30 or even 50 sheets of paper. You start the process of inking your plate, stone, screen, place the paper sheet and go! One after the other. Once your finished you look at each and every print, do they ALL look the same? Any miss-prints get set aside and are NOT part of your run. In watercolor painting he carried a 5x11 Arches workbook and he created rough painting ideas, he then painted a larger version with more details and refinements as to size and layout. His 3rd painting was done on a half or full size sheet 22 x 30 inches. He worked the same way for all of his finished paintings. He believed that you must create something raw then refine it and the 3rd time is the charm! This was his plan to create something he considered wonderful. I seldom create 3 versions, but I do believe he would have more wonderfully finished artworks then me, but I feel more spontaneous with my art! You do you and creating without recording is truly an Ok thing to do! I apologize for the novella. Happy SatChatter Day!

Scott Barnes (makeup artist and creator of the JLo Glow) showed to use Aquaphor Repair Stick for keeping your under eye concealer from creasing also in the marionette lines etc. Also thanks for the tip on the Phoenix paints.

Morning, back in the day the lady’s use to use Vaseline as their daily skin care. I did it for a while and of course got lazy and stopped. Yesterday when I logged on there was a Vlog that was in the que that you did from 8 yrs ago regarding light fastness. It was not a long vlog and it was informative. 😊

I also love organizing! My storage boxes are numbered, and I have everything listed in a notebook saying where I can find something. For example, Box #1 is Valentine's Day card supplies ~ Box #2 is St Patrick's Day card supplies, etc. Yes, organizing is definitely a hobby and I'm quite good at it! lol I hope your printmaking party was both productive and lots of fun!

Lindsay, I know how you feel when you find an outfit you like, it makes you happy to wear it, you feel better and it shows in your face. I also hate to shop, have no style and am a petite woman so finding something that fits and matches my age is difficult. I will buy girls and boys clothes from Walmart and when I find something that I like and fits I will buy 3 or 4 of the same in different colors. I am also frugal so I am not going to pay a lot for it. But my husband will shop at more expensive places and give me an item or two for holidays, birthdays, etc. My mother who is 86 loves to shop, still has a wonderful sense of style and looks for good deals so she will pick up items for me occasionally. I always love them and they are quality that she finds on sale and closeout. Looking out at snow coming down.
I need to get back in to my watercolor because I have had two busy months and have not touched them, so need to dedicate time daily to get back in to it.
I hear you about those busy months! You could make a watercolor kit so you can be painting when the mood strikes.

Hope you had fun with your print making party! I'd love to see another gelliprint video. You mentioned a "blast from the past"- Erma Bombeck! My mother & I would read her weekly column in the newspaper + one of our favorite cookbooks was her "I hate to cook" cookbook. It had the best "crazy cake" recipe which I have used for over 50 years. It is also vegan, which I didn't realize until my daughter became vegan. I've even adapted it to vanilla flavor. Hope your Dad is doing well, keeping him in my prayers. Thanks for keeping us entertained all these years.

I have your papercraft society box, but I couldn't help picking up the stamps and dies even with the duplicates! I justified it 10 ways to Sunday. More button dies? More that can be die cut at one time! LoL!

My poor hubby is fighting a bug, and he has to drive to the airport on Tuesday.
As for my travel watercolor kit that I brought...
Let's just say I really understand minimalism a little better! 😂
I don't know that I could ever pare down to that little bag! I love to have all my choices, and even
jugs of clean water on hand!
The best picture I did was a quick marker sketch of Mom's backyard, just the tree and bushes, and then hit with loose washes of several greens.
It was just quick, very satisfying, and I actually left it alone before it went bad on me!❤
Anyway, my final day consists of lunch with the Aunt, get Mom a new phone, then come back and build an IKEA bookshelf, and maybe even finish going through the shelf food!

I love Ohn Mar win, I attended her workshop last year and it was so lovely. I really enjoy the way she and Kojse Koone paint/draw anything and everything around them.
I 100% relate with feeling like if I’m home and painting, I should record it. I had gotten into the habit of then not creating art if I can’t be bothered to record; but I’m breaking out of that and reminding myself not everything needs to be recorded 😂😅
I’m doing a no buy with my members for the month, and using it as an excuse to just create ❤ have a lovely week x

Hi Lindsay, I don’t think you need to feel bad about not filming every piece you create, as you say you can always take a photo to post and yeah you can repaint for a tutorial but also a different perspective for you, you’re filling your sketchbooks! And I love me a sketchbook tour 😂 sometimes you just need to create for you, without purpose and that’s ok. You do you!

I am having SOME success with curbing my over-buying addiction (impulse buying stuff I really won't use) by focusing on forcing myself to think BEFORE I buy something, about researching what I already have in "inventory" and that if I purchase something, will it meaningfully add to what I already have! Temptations will always abound, however!

Red is definitely your color Lindsay! I just signed up for your colored pencil course! So excited but first need to finish the flower botanical coarse which I just love. My son and his wife lived in Japan for five years and they would send us weird stuff they found all the time. I remember them sending us tomato candy one time.😂( I looked and Ground Hog Day is February 2nd…. So you were close)

Very cute top Lindsay! I WISH I could do just one thing at a time. It’s not unusual to find myself watching two You Tube videos on two devices while also watching a movie on another or scrolling on my phone. It’s insane! Yet when I try to paint I can do only that, but I’m uncomfortable because I’m not doing something else simultaneously. It is maddening.

One of Elizabeth Ardens' classic products is 8 hour cream, and that is basically scented vaseline. Would it be possible have reviews/recommendations of watercolour brushes and pastel papers this year? Also, 1 hour Sat Chats would be wonderful. Have a great weekend everyone.

I got the woomer pencils too, and I did a my thoughts on them(video). And I compared them to a prismacolor too(very similar but not exactly ). I’m so glad you had the same thoughts. I was also worried about reviewing them(longevity of the brand etc) but they where so good when I tried them, I was like ooooo😮Ok

Yes my daughter is 15 now and I am finally able to raid her closet..oh and same shoe size too! I hate shopping and spending money on expensive clothes and shoes..so now I just get to borrow hers 😊

I know you like to use real supplies (I do too) but my son added Procreate to my iPad Pro and I love it. I can select any pencil or paint I want and it records every brush mark I make and then I can watch it back in a fast speed. It also keeps track of the time it took to complete from start to finish . It’s great for practicing or sketching before trying it on good paper. You could try something like that when hanging out. You might be able to put the recording on UA-cam with a voice over????
I have no interest in doing art on the computer. I tried it before and it was OK , but I like the analog feel if supplies in my hand. I love that for others tho!

Apart from housework, I've also been gel printing! Only my second time and the heat meant the paint kept drying on me super quick but I'd been wanting to do it and not allowing myself to do it so I decided that was stupid and did it anyway. 🎉

I sketched a bird every day in January and I painted most of them, as well. I got so much better at it in one month, so I need to keep this up. I’m all about sketching on the couch this month, I really want to keep it up.

I specifically bought a hideous oversized button-up sweater from a resale shop for wearing while I’m in my art room. It’s a sickly sort of off-ivory-yellowy color that looks terrible against my skin tone. But I was stoked because I knew I could get paint and dye and ink all over it and not care, with the bonus that it would keep me warm. Pair that with some paint streaked leggings, and that’s how stylish I look most of the time when I’m at home! 😂
Yes, as Janice said: freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose! You can be free in creating if you are unafraid of ruining your clothes 😆

Great Sat Chat! I totally get the "optimizing" feeling....I have a hard time creating in my journal because I think "what if it is really great and I wasted it in the journal instead of on a substrate I can sell?" I self sabotage!

I’m really going through an oil pastel phase. I got some of the Marie’s for Christmas and I like them a lot. They are very creamy for inexpensive pastels. (FYI: if any of the Frugalites from the other site see this, I left that platform but I miss seeing all your creations!!!!)

Vaseline! When I was in middle school (we called it Junior High) in the 70s, I used to put Vaseline on my eyelids for that “dewy look”. Now it’s the whole face, eh? Works for me…

None of my gal pals are artsy, I wish I could get them to just try, it's because we were all hospital career peeps, such serious jobs they forgot how to play and create. I am jealous of your print party. My art peeps are a group on line. We interact on post and a lot in art mail. I agree with your thoughts on optimizing , sketching everyday and not caring if it's good or bad is the practice that makes you better. I was looking back at what I drew when I first took your drawing course when I was afraid to hardly put my pencil to paper and now I can sketch almost anything. I never thought of how you have to separate your art work from your art hobby. That surprised me but I think I get it. I'm sure none of us who are not content makers really understand all the constraints that must interfere with your creativity. How fun with your print party.

Groundhog Day is February 2nd (tomorrow) and the way it looks outside, it looks like winter will never end! LOL! I'm cleaning the bedroom area, and art area today. Got some more canvas boards and palette paper and paint coming. I found on Amazon these folders that are 9 x 12 with built in sheet protectors, holds 60. A pack of 4 folders is only $25! I need those to keep my larger artwork in! So I been working on that and more artwork. I have some to photograph and post. Just doing some winter cleaning (and needing to take breaks in between because I can't do a lot at a time). I probably won't be done until spring and I don't have much! LOL!

Navy blue, black and gray are having a moment in my closet because between dying my hair and painting there could be color accidents. I take classes at the local art center, so there is a group of tops I call my “painting in public wardrobe”. If something becomes truly tragic, its in my painting at home collection 😅

Yes! Bangs are youthful but I have to heat style them or they go crazy! The woomer are softer than ohuhu.
