    Mirror BLK/RED constant connects car WHT constant
    Mirror ORG(GND & Switch?) connects to car GRY switched

    Hello, the mirror I got gntx 453 has a blue wire. Did you left it unconnected?

      Not sure what it’s for. These version come on many models and options. Some have output to side mirror dimming. So beat to google the pin out to see what it is for.

    I have a 2010 corrolla that I am also installing a new auto dimming mirror using the dome light and not using a backup camera though it's just the light. The dome light is constant power but it turns on and off correct? And I need it to be 12 voltes for it to work right?
    Where can I get some of these quick connect things you mention?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 роки тому

      Don’t use the dome light circuits. They are on a closed loop controlled by the lighting computer on Toyota. Cause lots of them dim up and down. You can test to make sure. Else run a now wire up there. The quick connects can be found at any store or Amazon.

      @@TunerwithKids what's up dude? I actually just completed connecting and wiring it up, it took me about an hour thirty minutes. I ended up running the wire accross the headliner and down the pillar into the electrical area underneath the steering wheel,disconnected the 10 pin harness for my exterior mirror controls ,spliced into the 12 V wire and the ground. With two snap lock connectors. When I reconnected the power and started the car it activated immediately perfectly.I calibrated my compass and tested the dimming and everything worked flawlessly. I ended up doing a really clean install using foam tape to keep the wires from moving and used zip ties to fasten the wire to existing wiring along the side of the pillar , then more foam tape to hold the wiring in the inside wall of the fuse area under the steering wheel. It looks more or less factory. the most annoying part ways removing all of the trim and figuring out how to disconnect the clamp holding the pillar against the car And then reconnecting my visors. I'm extremely satisfied, it looks awesome and no problems at all I ended up finding the official Toyota installation guide for the 10th generation Corolla for free with a google search and just followed the steps, Very easy just had to be patient and take my time hours concerned I was gonna break something but fortunately everything went off without a problem now I gotta awesome new upgraded rear view mirror. Thank you for responding to my question I figured it wasn't going to work in that area. I'm not a electrician and doing wiring was nerve wracking but after I studied it for a while I realized that it actually isn't that complicated once you get the basics of what you are doing it just a pathway that you're following. Anyone else is doing this project on a Toyota or similar vehicle I recommend going to that same source on the outside mirror controls as soon as the car gets turned off it goes dark instantly and when the car is on it turns on instantly and it works at the same time that you are adjusting your mirrors there is no risk of draining the battery or having to wait 30 minutes or anything.

    Thank you for the video! Any idea if it'd be possible to install this type of rear-view mirror on Camry TRD? It's impossible to order one with this type of mirror so I have to have installed after getting the car

      Not sure about Corolla. If it was an option then the wires should be there. The 2020 has all that pre collision stuff up there so it might have a mirror plug b

    • @TunerwithKids

      Yea. For Camry it’s prewired for HL mirror so a constant and switched power is there.

      @@TunerwithKids does or drain the battery? That's my main concern. Like is the homelink supposed to constantly receive power?

    • @TunerwithKids

      No. That’s how it comes from factory. It only uses power when you press a button.

      Yes. It should work for any Toyota. Of their isn’t power, you have to run it. But Camry, I suspect it’s there due to various options that they make.

    Hi Tuner with kids, great job, do you know if this same mirror can work on a older car that has a old style manual flip dimmer/ non power with no wires from mirror , it's my understanding that all of the electronics of the dimmer, homelink,and compass is inside that mirror ,all you need is run wires for power ,or am I wrong,thanks ,hope to hear from you 👍

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 роки тому +1

      Yes this will work in any car with the wedge mount. Just run the wires. I retrofitted my dads 2012 Camry with one too.

      @@TunerwithKids wow you are amazing, my car is a low miles great looking 98 Lexus, can't seem to get rid of it, but I would love to upgrade it, great so I just need to run the wires to lights in headliner for power and ground , correct?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 роки тому +1

      Yea if it’s a 98 it should be simple. No real electrical issues. The home link is constant power so any dome circuit can work. For dimming you want switched power, maybe if there is sunroof power that can work.
