I remember getting this game and loving it so much because it reminded me of BT3. I loved the graphics and music and gameplay. I just hated the fact there was no story mode. Galaxy mode had me upset lol because it was a little too much as I was just a kid who wanted to be the crap out of Frieza and see Gohan go ssj2 for the first time. Still a great game, and great review.
Rb2 graphics/gameplay+a story mode that goes through all 3 with battle of gods+rb1 gameplay modes+create a character+bt3 roster with giant characters+budokai tenkaichi tag teams 2 on 2 mode=perfect dbz game in my eyes
If only this had GT characters and some more stages. Along with a solid story mode akin to the first RB. As well as the other modes from RB1. This game could also use RB1's item customization and have a ultimate attack customization. Including a character creator. This game also needed a much better collision detection and less bugs. These problems amended would make for the best DBZ game.
I don't mind them removing story. It had been done to death at that point. I wouldn't have minded what if stories though, that would've been fine. But yeah I wish the point limit system in the customisation was gone and was more like RB1. It really limited what you could do.
If this game had a Story Mode and GT characters back then, I’d love this game more. Galaxy Mode although might be fun for a little but after awhile it just feels pointless and dull.
Baltimore Studioz Well at least it has the best Gameplay. If you were to combine Raging blast 1 and 2 as well as the characters from Bt3- (BOOM)! Best Dbz game ever.
+Anyway Channel. This guy knows what he's talking about. I would also had in Dragonball and GT story too with create a character customization from xenoverse (with more options of course). With all this you have the perfect Dragon ball z game

If this game would have gohan teen with gokus gi, story mode and gt characters, more maps like destroyed cell games stage. This would be the best game ever
I know right. Since Bojack and Zangya were in this game, teen Gohan with the turtle gi SHOULD have been there. Idk how that costume with teen Gohan never appeared in any dragonball console game after bt3. Yeah there's missing maps like room of spirit and time and cell games in day time. And there were missed opportunities for maps like new planet vegeta or Hatchiyak's lair.
yeah both awesome games , i think the company just knew how to use the material of their previous product and took it to a whole new level on oposite to dimps which is just a crappy company with randomly made games
I can definitely live without a story mode, I've played through story modes so many times throughout the past dbz games that quite honestly, I'm sorta sick of it. I'll probably look into picking this game up soon.
Look at customization in online terms would u want to fight somebody with kick ass equips and have them a beast that will never lose or against somebody that has those items but has a limit to how much they can use to give you a fair fight
@VAST56. There are two items that fall under that category on this game. The first is known as Rush Armor, which has the effect of making the user not flinch on regular punches, and Smash Armor, which keeps the user from flinching on smash attacks. However, using these items drastically increases the damage you take from attacks ( an ultimate could take 2 and a half bars of health instead of 1), so using these items has its risks.
Lets hope for another game with similar fighting style.... i really hope that bandai namco can somehow revive spike....even if they messed up on ultimate tenkaichi
The only real issues in this game are the story mode and finding players online other than that it's a really great game that's worth a try at least for DBZ fans
Well, dodging smash attacks is roughly the same in both games, since the time between the attack is "launched" and when it hits you is small in both, but things like supers are noticeably easier to dodge at mid-long range in RB2. You could press guard almost a full second before it hits you and still vanish. The follows have a tight timing, but they all generally have the same timing so it wasn't all that hard to learn how to avoid them.
but the differences between the character combos are the smashes, the follow ups and cancels they have in raging blast make the characters that much more different, but the problem is they shouldn't have changed the smashes to the same exact for each character (rolling hammer->kiai cannon->flying kick->heavy finish) in raging blast two, mix up the smashes a little more. that way, not only the cancels and follow-ups make each character different, but the smashes make them EVEN MORE different too!
Loved it. Though it was the best dragon ball game ever until I went back and emulated bt3 and I saw how mediocre this game was. It's not bad but after unlocking all the characters there's nothing else to do. This game isn't bad but bt3 makes it look bad. I know I give bt3 too much credit, but I never grew up with bt3. I grew up with raging blast and even I see how bad raging blast can be. Bt3 is more fun. Rb2 has way better graphics. Also bt3 has faster gameplay. Sorry Raging Blast but Budokai tenkaichi was made with more love. And bt3 had ring outs in world tournament.
The ZC2 was just ^+[] the instant before you were hit. That blaster wave was done by pressing L1 twice, but came with the cost of losing half a health bar.
my only problem with this game is the story... there's absolutely NO story! Just bullshit missions that make no sense at all. there's no cutsenes or anything. but as for gameplay and graphics, this game is hands down the best DBZ game since budokai 3
personally i dont have an issue with it not having a story mode. The story has been told a hundred times already in all the other games. Im glad they are trying something new with the galaxy mode
Besides the story mode in previous games had the only purpose of unlocking certain items and/or characters. So really playing through it wasn't done by choice, but rather necessity.
The gameplay of the Ragingblast series still urks me. It lacks some kind of intensity all the other DBZ games before it had. Unless you were sending someone flying, regular punch kick combos just werent making you feel like you were doing damage.
I'll have to admit you provided some solid details about the beams in BT3. I guess I was just too enthralled with the graphic development of the RB2 beams to notice the aspects you mentioned about BT3 beams. As for what I find innovative about RB2: It's the little things. I, personally, like the aftermath of beam attacks; how it truely looks like the beam hit it's target and impacted them. I also like how the ultimate attacks give you an actual look at how the attack devastated your foe.
Well, you can't button mash the ZC2 and the EBW only works while you're being hit. I have the Wii version myself, and the ZC2 is done with ^+A for Wiimote and GC and EBW is done with A+B+c on the Wiimote and L[x2] for the GC. Both are listed in the tutorial and the ZC2 is also in the skill list.
There is also the charge timings, movement speed, max-power benefits and certain moves that make BT3's characters unique. More smashes and follow-ups would make either system better.
any application actually... just press the guide button (counteract to home button) use the little menu DESIGNED for use in game, go over to the player find music, play... it might take a while to do a play all depending on how much there is.
I did say 'personally' when referring to graphics. Of course RB2's have the HD clearness, but every beam to me seems too 'wispy' and weak-looking while BT3's have jagged edges with high contrast lighting and lightning. Of course opinions. I think the Super Explosive Wave is factually better-looking in BT3 though. The follow-ups are innovative but what else is? Please note I'm not tying to be aggressive, just would like to hear some reasons.
@Shadowsmoke11 Well that most definitely depends on your opinion; I like the combo system and the way special attacks are done more in Raging Blast 2. However it is true that the normal flying speed is a bit too slow this is better in Bt3, still this point isn't nearly enough to make it better than Rb2.
@wwnwannabe oh Yea you control whichever character on your team is in the fight. When one character is KO'd or you swap to another team member, the player automatically is placed in control.
In customization, they should have had two different sets of ten slots, one for the items that affect the characters stats and one for the accessory and CPU Intellect items which don't affect the stats.
@wwnwannabe No, strictly 1vs1 even during team matches. But some characters will do assist ultimates like 17-18, Jeice-Burter, Adult Gohan-Goten(both super saiyan 1), etc.
I can't say for sure, but they sound like they are. And I think the reason that there is different music is because of some copyright issues with RB2's music so they had to use BT2's.
BT3 does have follow ups but not as much as RB2 does like the four hit body strike the sweep trip attack and the push follow up attack right after you press the triangle button and you rapidly tap the square button to follow it up with a push combo
I would actually add a few things to that. I would add no barriers, instead of choosing a small plot of land you can choose planets! maybe certain regions on Earth though. like you could choose Namek, Tuffle, Vegeta, Kai Planet, and the time chamber with no barriers would be pretty cool. and maybe even a free roam kinda thing. Like fly to all your destinations and go down and walk/run to anywhere that you need to go. only with no loading screens. you go can go down and land, and jump up and fly!
@wwnwannabe Unfortunately, all I can think of is before the 'character select' screen when you choose difficulty etc. either you as the player will control all fighters (1P vs CPU) or set CPU to control all the fighters (CPU vs CPU) but they do not have a way to mix player with CPU >1P/CPU vs CPU< so this might be something for them to bring back to a DBZ game. It worked out well for DBZ Legends on PSOne
I am glad to see that you can finally have a tie in a clash. What I would suggest for future DBZ titles that play this similar is that, for the blasts that have the ability to destroy planets that are aimed downward, do the following: add some difficulty to pulling them off successfully if possible; and let destroying the planet be an automatic win if the opponent (a) dodges the blast that was aimed at the planet (if it is a planet) or (b) fails in a clash of beams. Just an idea.
@PrEdAtOrZ97 It depends on what style of DBZ game it is that you want if you want a DBZ game with a story mode, manga-style graphics, and a Character Creator Mode (although it is very limited) then get Ultimate Tenkaichi. If you want a DBZ game with a very large character roster, really good graphics, and an overall better fighting system get Raging Blast 2. I for one am getting Raging Blast 2
Great videos. One thing though about the sound, it seems as if you're talking behind a wall or something. I gotta really turn up my speakers to hear you well
@KerrDogga if you don't mind going through hours of single-player gameplay to unlock everything, combat that will run out really fast, and no true story mode, then yes
What I mean is BT3 is a lot more sensative to scratches then rb2 so if you get a used game its sort of a gamble where you get it from, Scratched up copies may not even allow you to play certain levels where as RB2 is more durable. I got a used BT3 from gamestop that sucks badly.
I can't deny the follow-ups are fun, but dodging and guarding have limited options at best. I didn't mention GT. Planet, Cave and the World Tournament are awful stages. First is bland being mostly flat and the next two are cramped with RB's slow recovery system. I didn't mention a story either, but that alone would beat the monotony that is Galaxy Mode and Battle Zone. ". . .fun for pros to master" Same can be said of BT3.
@batboybun play through as goku to unlock items. three options when you get them unlocked. normal spirit bomb (goku vs vegeta-first time)...the large one (goku vs frieza) then the last one where he turns ss to finish the attack (goku vs kid buu)
It plays quite differently from the Budokai series. It's related to the 3D Tenkaichi series and plays similarly to that. It's pretty easy to learn how to play so it shouldn't take you too long to get into it.
There are no differences in the charge timings in RB2. Snaps and other charge attacks have the same timings while BT3's can vary greatly. Also their speed differences are incredibly minor, and RB's limited movement system makes any difference negligible. With the Z-Counter 2 and the Emergency Blaster Wave, that Max-Power infinite isn't overpowered. I do think it was foolish of them to put all of the smashes in the same order and removed the Rush Ki Wave and Blaster Wave.
@KAOSTHEBLAKWOLF no i meant like, if you are in a team match, every time a character swaps do you control whichever character on ur team is in the fight or can u make it so that u only control one fighter for the hole match?
Raging Blast 2 simply doesn't have near the game modes RB1 had. Graphically, I'll just repeat the, "RB2's characters look like rubber" statement. The gradient style wasn't used to the best of its ability and ended up blurring many of the effects.
@drmayo99 I played through one of the upper Ultimate Zones with the Normal version of Cell (Normal as in normal, custom 1, custom 2, etc.) I had no items attached and beat the Zone. Enhanced Cell was my reward for doing so. I tried a lower Battle Zone with Raditz(normal/no items) and got a significantly less impressive Enhanced version. So idk if level of Zone makes a difference or not. Others said they beat Zones with the character they were fighting (normal/no items). Some are only DLC
You had said BT3 was kind of clunky, but I think RB2 is much more so, with its stiff movement and strange recovery time. That's the only thing I was getting at.
also instead of choosing a song just in the game to start playing when you go into Raging Soul, you can set any song on your xbox to start playing! I guess it would be pretty funny to go into RS and suddenly sexy back starts playing lol (not that I have that song or anything).
Here's how it should go: The same roster along with GT Goku, GT Vegeta, GT Trunks, Pan (I guess), GT Goten, All forms of Baby, Nova/Ice/Syn/Omega Shenron's, Super 17, Dragonball Classic Goku, etc. The same fighting mechanics but with a larger health bar, increased difficulty, and, like you said, little to no glitches. If they redo all the maps from BT3, then I will be very happy. Amped up character creator, Hero/Villain story modes, Saga mode, What if mode, and Level creator mode.
Yeah that would be great if you can. I played the demo recently on the ps3 and its way better than the first, but i would like to know if galaxy mode is fun and how many other single player modes there are.
MidnightWolf421 during intro quotes it's weird when #17 & #18 don't saying anything unique to each other. #13 is fun to play as well. my friend lets me use his account for his saves & most of his fighters are a little OP. another note try not rage quitting against someone who spams using *that* item & "#18's kiss" to win -_-
@DJDaJuicemayne I can dig it. I checked out some gameplay video but its hard to tell anything at this point, still too early. More quick timed events it looks like, or at least an option to initiate them cuz you know people repeat moves when they dont know how to play so i'll keep an eye on that. The attacks do look better and I appreciate them using the manga as inspiration for the character models. Giant characters might be cool or it might be annoying as hell but hey, maybe it'll be worth it
No. You have to play as F. Gohan or Recoome or a person that can slam someone to the ground with their throw and go to the grassland area. Use their throw on somebody and the ground will break and make a large hole that you can fight in. Its also in Supreme Kai's planet and Namek but it is more complicated.
I have the version of the game that has the BT2 soundtrack. If i were to get the original soundtrack copy of the game after I have data for my current copy, would I have different data?
I'm a bit of a nerd about the models and effects between these games. Those short cinematics do look cool and add that nice effect. It would be cool if when you finished an opponent it did the DBZ disintegration. =P
(Continued from earlier) They should also allow the player to create costumes/ transformations for certain characters. SSJ5? 5th form Frieza? All of this could/should/better happen.
@csoldier1212 i stopped playing demos for games cuz they tend to change things. Companies release demos while they are still working on a game or finalizing it by edging out some details so gameplay isn't quite ready in demos imo
@DBKaiFANSonGokuRises true I guess I just forget to put imo or whatever. don't get me wrong though I liked Ut's battle system too. just liked rb2's more
sorry dude, there are some seriously overpowered customs in this game. put health up l and s on base form transform then put def up l and M, material power, latent power, Miracle power, health auto recover and whatever power down you need to make it work. your welcome. you know have a completely brokenly strong character
Try using one of the Buus especially Kid Buu XD My friend let me use his account for his saves and his Super Buu, and Kid Buu is OP XD makes sense to me though he said he set up Items depending on character on custom 3 and fav on rest
Honestly, my favorite thing about this game is that Yamcha can beat LSSJ 3 Broly in a CPU v CPU match.

In customization, they should have had two different sets of ten slots, one for the items that affect the characters stats and one for the accessory and CPU Intellect items which don't affect the stats.
I wouldn't really call that a secret. You can also do it with the 3rd vanishing pursuit, but its harder to aim that one.
6:27 yes u can theres a item that lets you
Which item? I need that
when I get on this game ill come back and tell you
Joker'sShenanigans its called unexpected blow
I would actually add a few things to that. I would add no barriers, instead of choosing a small plot of land you can choose planets! maybe certain regions on Earth though. like you could choose Namek, Tuffle, Vegeta, Kai Planet, and the time chamber with no barriers would be pretty cool. and maybe even a free roam kinda thing. Like fly to all your destinations and go down and walk/run to anywhere that you need to go. only with no loading screens. you go can go down and land, and jump up and fly!
Great review man you told me everything i wanted to know. Appreciate it man!
What if they added on to the fighting? More follow-ups and smash attacks could only make the game better.
I gotta really turn up my speakers to hear you well
@KerrDogga if you don't mind going through hours of single-player gameplay to unlock everything, combat that will run out really fast, and no true story mode, then yes
you can use supers and ultimate in raging soul if you equip the item to use them i think its called unexpected blow.
I was hoping the customization was the same but I guess not.can u change up specials and ultimates this time?
Yes
Just like RB 1, yes.
Enosh Starcrod specials yes ultimates only for Goku since he has 3 spirit bombs
Also, the ground thing you have to be in the place where you start the battle.
I don't know. If I remember right, the original Budokai was multiplatform, but I think all the others were ps2 exclusives. Not sure why they did that.
That's the Rush Ki Wave. RB still has it, but its only Vegeta and Tarble's Signature.
Am I correct to point 3)
Since it is my opinion and my tastes and the opinions and tastes no wrong.
Yeah that would be great if you can. I played the demo recently on the ps3 and its way better than the first, but i would like to know if galaxy mode is fun and how many other single player modes there are.
Also you can use special moves during raging soul you just a need a special item on your character to use them
Yep it really confuses your opponents who never even heard of it I guess it's an "unexpected blow" to them XD
Lmfao!!
MidnightWolf421
XD Cell & Kid Buu's my mains or was who's yours :D
I love using Frieza, Cell, Meta Cooler, and Andriod 17 & 18 but two mains is Frieza and Meta Cooler xD!!
MidnightWolf421
during intro quotes it's weird when #17 & #18 don't saying anything unique to each other.
#13 is fun to play as well. my friend lets me use his account for his saves & most of his fighters are a little OP.
another note try not rage quitting against someone who spams using *that* item & "#18's kiss" to win -_-
@darkkupero you are very right actually! I read the bosses will be a like 60xs larger than them or something! and cool creations
My biggest issue is that you're stuck with the same stage and song for Training Mode. I'm really hoping that they fix that on RB3.
Giant characters might be cool or it might be annoying as hell but hey, maybe it'll be worth it
@knifeexpert96 it's called dragon ball z ultimate tenkaichi and it is coming out in late october 2011
True Gamer Q Thank you. Now all I hvae to do is find a copy with the original soundtrack
No. The data isn't saved to the disc, it's saved to the consol.
Great review! You earned a new subscriber
@csoldier1212 i stopped playing demos for games cuz they tend to change things. Companies release demos while they are still working on a game or finalizing it by edging out some details so gameplay isn't quite ready in demos imo
The super saiyan hairs look the best in this game.
Try using one of the Buus especially Kid Buu XD My friend let me use his account for his saves and his Super Buu, and Kid Buu is OP XD makes sense to me though he said he set up Items depending on character on custom 3 and fav on rest
or u can just not be shit at the game and not use items
@MrJokertime1 I don't remember that one. Did they make a new movie I didn't hear about?
