    Good video. Please check your sound levels as music is really loud but your talking is really quiet!

    I'm a solo traveller from Australia, can I purchase snow/winter clothes there or it's better to purchase it in Australia? Thanks. What's about ski rental?

    • @TheVanabondTales
      @TheVanabondTales  2 місяці тому

      There's ski rental on the mountain and some small rental shops in Almaty, which are about half the price. I paid, about $11 per day for snowboard rental; the gear was not the highest quality. We couldn't track down second-hand clothes to buy in Almaty and ended up renting them, so it might be better to purchase them in Australia.

      @@TheVanabondTales Thank you so much for the reply. Might bring my gear from Australia over depending on how expensive it is to bring them in check-in luggages.

      @@ellacosl329 you can buy the gear here if you are looking for a new one. Second-hand gear is hardly available. The prices can go from $100 to $1000 depending on the brand and quality

    How do you find living? Airbnb? Can someone send me a link for the resorts website?

      You can find affordable Airbnbs in Almaty and take the bus, taxi or drive to the mountain (that's what we did). There are also plenty of nice and reasonably cheap hotels in Almaty. You can also stay on the mountain there are a few hotels that are ski in ski off. Check out the blog post for links. thevanabondtales.com/skiing-kazakhstan-almaty-shymbulak-altai/

    Bro, if I wish to learn skiing, would you recommend Almaty?

    • @TheVanabondTales
      @TheVanabondTales  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah Shymbulak is a good place to learn! There a some mellow runs and there are instructors, and its cheaper than other places plus there is lots to off the slopes in Almaty.
