  • Yeah this is a very surprising game I never thought I would like but man was I wrong. In a year with so many great games coming out, something pulled me to try genshin impact and i'm so glad I did.

    my take on genshin combat is that out of any fantasy game that implements elements is that genshin has the best element implication with its combat than any other game. the amount of depth with the elemental reaction alone is insane and it took me quite awhile to understand some of it but its fun implementing them and combine them in combat.

    The story changes in tone significantly and I think it picks up a lot once you reach Liyue (second major story section).

      Agreed, World Quests in Sumeru (4th area of the world) is really where it gets DEEP into the lore. Although if you're not a fan of reading, it would feel a bit tedious.

    The game can be played without ever spending a cent. I have a year-old completely f2p account and there is no content I can't clear with it that I can with my 'pay a little each month' account. This account has 6 limited 5-stars that I personally like for both their personality and how they play. Sure looks matter, but all characters in Genshin are nice looking, so that for me comes last. That could be because I see them as teammates and not objects to simp over. Anyway, the point is that f2p can get any character they want, but it takes patience and time spent playing. There is a huge amount of primogems (the currency used to buy 'lottery tickets' for the gacha) to be found in game. Not enough to get every character, but certainly the select ones that appeal to one's tastes the most.
    Because of needing to save the gathered funds I tell especially f2p to watch the character demos and teasers to have an idea who to save for. There are some mild spoilers for the story in some of them, but even so. Reaction videos to the demos are fairly popular too. If you choose to make such a video, please, start from the oldest one. A lot of things make more sense that way.

    the game _is_ free to play. The game is complete without spending anything. Paying money is an optional style choice, not a game necessity. Some like to think that the advertising for characters (ie. character promotion) is underhand, shady .. but our entire lives are filled with wall to wall advertising - we should be able to deal with it without complaining that the advertising compelled us to spend our money.

    • @amari7782
      @amari7782 3 місяці тому

      The reason why people are more blatant about it because gacha as a whole is a whole lot of spending without any real return.
      Genshin is worse about it because there’s no end game so cares aren’t worth rolling for because you have nowhere to really use them on.
      People shit in the weapon banner for this reason to because it’s a huge scam since you need to spend almost twice as many primos than u would just to get the character

    • @Chestyfriend
      @Chestyfriend 2 місяці тому

      @@amari7782 In Genshin you can just roll for characters you like without having to worry about powercreep much, that alone makes it one of the mopst F2P friendly gachas.

      @@Chestyfriend not really because a very large chunk of the roster isn’t that useful.
      Most 4 stars nowadays need c6 just to function or are so weak there’s no point in using them like Dori.
      Alongside a good chunk of main dps 5 stars like the standard banner characters getting power crept hard like diluc who needed a limited 5 star just to make him relevant.
      From an f2p standpoint u forget that if you don’t have a specific character you’re just locked out of certain teams all together or your rotations become vastly weaker because there’s no alternatives.

    • @Chestyfriend
      @Chestyfriend 2 місяці тому

      @@amari7782 You can clear all content with characters from 1.0, from a F2P standpoint if you can't clear content in Genshin you just didn't build your characters enough. The only team that needs a specific character is Nilou for Nilou bloom, everything else can use replacements.

  • @Thedarkbunnyrabbit

    So Genshin is actually really easy to play F2P. You'll be able to save up free currency to pull for people that you want pretty easily if you don't want to try to collect everyone, and you'll never run into content that's just impossible if you don't have a character you must pull for. Also, they frequently give away free characters (a four star unit called Gorou will be given away with an event this patch) and these are gacha characters, not your typical gimped welfare unit. The story also improves MASSIVELY as you go on! Early on the story is pretty run of the mill as you say, but as you continue to play you'll find that this simple story is actually hiding a much deeper and more complex one that gets exposed more and more as you explore the world of Teyvat. If you're a lore nerd, then you may enjoy that Genshin is SUPER into its lore. It has huge amounts of world building, and anything you see in gameplay is explained in lore somehow, so there's no gameplay/story segregation where you do something wild in gameplay that can't be done in lore. As for my fav husbandos, that's tough. I love Kaeya, Tartaglia, Zhongli, Kaveh and Xiao (but then I collect all the boys of Genshin...) Genshin is REALLY big and has a huge amount of content. Mihoyo does its best not just to make an open world but to fill it with quests and puzzles, challenges, treasure and things to explore and see. Before you run out of content, you'll have easily played 700+ hours. There's a lot of fun to be had, both in Genshin's more casual things like story and exploration and in its combat systems.
    One thing I'd say is that when you start getting an item called 'fragile resin' save that up. Wait until you're adventure rank 45 to use that, if possible. Fragile resin is a fairly limited resource, and it's basically your endgame material. When you eventually get to AR45+ and you go from 'level up my characters' to 'make my characters the strongest' you'll want a lot of it in you pocket. Other than that, it's a great game and I bet you'll love it. Try not to let people who have gotten burnt out on the game ruin your enjoyment of it. It is such a good game that if you want to (and some people have) you can just ignore the whole gacha side of it entirely and only play with the units handed to you for free and get just as much enjoyment out of playing the game as anyone else.

    I've been playing genshin for 4 years, and I'll just say it's a cyclical process. It has it's ups and downs (even through the bloated dialogue). The combat will stagnate once you build your two spiral abyss teams and start getting full stars because there's no more challenging content, but it's certainly fun when they actually let you use the combat.
    You get enthralled by a region, find a character (or multiple) that you REALLY want, grind to get that character in the future, then play with the character for a long while. You then stop playing the game and wait 3, 4, or even 6 months without even logging on, but then a new region comes out and the cycle begins again. The beginning of each major nation is always hype.

    biggest tip i can give is once youve caught up with all the story and have reached abyss 11 its best you take a break until new story comes out at that point its just a grind fest that gradually removes your enjoyment of the game gadually

      You're talking like months and months of gameplay though. The experience of a new player when there was only Liyue out is different from a new player while Fontaine is out. He has SO much to do that unless he's hardcore streaming it (and knows what he's doing) by the time he runs out of what he has this moment there will be a bunch more for him to do.

    Just wait until he gets burnt out and realises that the game is repetitive and boring. Also has terrible rewards and the devs don't care about the player base and has even been caught using bots to hide how angry their fans are. I think that the Chinese Government got onto them for ignoring customer complaints. I've been playing since 1.1 and let me tell you, once the feeling of how fascinating the world is wears off, that's when you realise how terrible the game is, but have fun till then. They even blacklist content creators for exposing how bad the game is i.e Mtashed and Tectone.
