Man you’ve got the best video on the entire web for this process. This clears up alot of gray areas for me. Because of your video, I will now be able to go into this installation, completely confident! Thanks so much!
Great videos! Thank you. We hit 40 here sometimes (104 F), but right now we are coming out of some -15 winter days here in Canada eh. I envy that dry desert heat! That pigtail is an interesting idea. I saw one video where the person put an auxiliary fuse box under handle bars for hand warmers and lights etc. The pigtail would work great if a person wanted just one more accessory. Keep up the great videos, I have subscribed.
Happy to help , when my nephew is ready we will do a part 3 . Just might be a month or two tell we put one on his Rancher . I know he wants a 12v outlet and that wire harness works for that also . Thanks for watching
@Arizona Kid I'll look forward to that video. I heard alot of bad things about harbor freight winches on UA-cam reviews. Would you recommend the WARN 101025 VRX 25 Powersports Winch or the ZEAK 2500 lb. Advanced Off-Road 12V DC ATV/UTV Electric Winch, Synthetic Rope with Mini-Rocker Solenoid Kit? I dont know if the warn is really worth 3 times cost of cheaper one.
Bobby Miller I’ve had good luck with the new model zxr 3500 winch from harbor freight . Now I’ve heard bad things about there 2500 winch . Build different and breaks . But the only other one I would suggest is the KFI product winches . They have 2000 for 208$ and 3000lbs for 272$ . I’m only suggesting those two because I’ve used them before . I have no idea on those other ones.
@@ArizonaKid okay thank you for your help. I just want a good winch for money and not cost arm and leg. I will check out the other 2 winches you recommended. Im assuming 3500lbs iis little over kill for a Honda rancher. I think Honda said the frame can only handle 2000 lbs from winch
Bobby Miller if you watch that night ride I went on my friend with 2020 rancher has one on his . Just don’t pull anything bigger than 2000 lbs . I don’t even know my rating . I will only pull my bike and it weighs 636 . Just know your limit . I got the 3500 cuz it is durable . I know it’s over kill . Just food for thought
Nice video. I used the MacGyver method for the ignition wire on my Rancher. I also placed my solenoid in about the same location, maybe a few inches higher. I purchased the Tusk winch kit from Rocky Mountain ATV. All of my planning had the solenoid going to the battery and storage box in back, but the switch cable was too short, making it necessary to go with the alternate location. Please keep up the good work on the videos. I enjoyed the video experimenting with the TraxLock on the Rancher, too.
Lon R. Thanks for watching, I wanna do video with the Forman , putting it in same spots as the rancher 4x4 videos and show the difference from limited slip to locker diff . Just been so hot , it’s hard to find a cool time .
I just put a winch on my 2020 rancher. It worked great. That wire harness worked. Just connect your red wire to the white wire on end of wire harness. The kfi winch plate worked too. I mounted my solenoid in the back storage compartment by battery.
@@ArizonaKid I couldn't of done it without you. Thank you! Now I need to figure out how to add a 12v cigarette lighter power supply on my rancher. I don't know how to wire that lol
Bobby Miller I had a video on it , but deleted cuz of reasons I’d rather not get into . I will go and order one for my nephew bike and do a video in the next few weeks . Are how long it takes for parts to get in k . It’s not to hard . But I will show step by step on this video k
@@CloseEnoughConstruction do u have wire tester to find hot wire with key on ? Prob not are you would not be asking me which one lol , well hold on I honestly do not remember which color ?? But I used same wire for my lights ?? Let me look
Thanks for the awesome videos ! I got the same winch as you for my 2022 foreman 520 and i am mounting it to a strong made bumper. For the wiring harness/pigtail thing do i need a wire crimper or stripper or anything or is it literally " plug and play"? Also, whats the process for removing the side plastic to run the wires? Thanks !
Mine was plug and go , and just remove sides like doing oil change . Maybe watch one of those videos ? Maybe the rancher oil change video shows it the best
@@ArizonaKid Ok, yea i see the black boot thing it goes in. Do i need to like crimp it once the red wire is in there? Or just tape it up once its in there?
That’s a good question, I’m gonna guess and say not this part number but maybe another one . Go to Hondas web sight . Can help a lot . Or just cut into wire . Don’t need harness . Just makes it cleaner .

Oh wow , that pigtail will help !! Thanks 😊
Don Taylor , you are welcome
So the pigtail harness that comes on a rancher is just pre wired but cannot be used so you have to buy the HR3-A20 correct? Thanks
Ya that helps more . Good video . Maybe do a part 3 when you finally install winch on your nephew Rancher ? And it will bring all the info together?

So for the cowboy way on the foreman is it the green wire that’s hot or the white and black one?

What is the last part there in the fender for? The black one with the rubber cover?
That’s a plug , the winch had a switch but also a extended hand held one that plugs into that plug under fender. Some winches do not have it .
