    Cremo Shave Guide: How to Shave Your Head with a Razor
    Looking for info on how to shave your own head? You’ve come to the right place!
    Before you start, make sure you properly prepare by having the right tools and clipping your hair to a low grade. For product, we recommend Cremo’s Shaving Cream and Post Shave Balm, along with a small towel and cartridge razor.
    Step 1
    Run water until hot and apply liberally to your hair and scalp, as the hot water will help open up hair follicles and make them easier to cut.
    Alternatively, you can also apply a hot towel to your head to achieve the same effect. However, no matter which method you decide to use, remember to take your time, as this will ultimately help you achieve a better shave.
    Step 2
    Take your shaving cream and work thoroughly into your hair. Shaving cream acts as a great lubricant and cushions the blade, allowing for lower drag and fewer snags.
    Pro-tip: Apply more shaving cream than you would normally when shaving your face, as this will help the blade follow the natural curve of your skull.
    Step 3
    Starting with the front of your head, take your razor and shave with the grain, working in small but assured strokes. Let the razor do the work and do not press too hard, else you might end up cutting or hurting yourself. Use a fresh blade to minimize razor burn.
    After every couple of strokes, you’ll want to wash the razor. This removes hair and shaving cream and keeps the blade free to do its work.
    Carry on until you’ve finished the front of your head.
    Step 4
    Next, shave the sides of your head. Again, work from top to bottom, shaving with the grain.
    Careful you don’t get too close to your ears.
    Step 5
    Finally, we come to the back of the head, which is the most difficult part. If you’re feeling less confident, make sure to add a bit more shaving cream or water and feel with your hands that everything part of your scalp is covered.
    Work the razor blade from top to bottom in confident strokes. To help the blade glide, try tightening the back of the neck to allow a flatter surface area to cut. Use another mirror to make sure you’re shaving the right spots and the shaving cream is properly applied.
    Step 6
    Take some hot water and rinse your head of shaving cream. Use your hands in this process to search for parts of the head you may have missed on the first pass.
    Step 7
    Repeat steps 2 to 6. Re-lather some shaving cream to the head, and pay particular attention to the parts of the head you missed or the parts which are harder to shave than the rest.
    You’re going to shave your head again, this time though, we’re going to go against the grain of your hair growth. This gives us a really close shave and is one of the best ways to shave your head.
    This time the blade should glide across the skin as you have already removed a lot of hair already. Don’t get overconfident and careless; always move the blade cautiously yet confidently.
    On this pass, make sure you remove any hair lingering around your ear.
    Step 8
    Rinse the shaving cream from your head with warm water. Massage in and check all over your head for any missed areas. If you have missed a spot, re-lather the shaving cream again and go for another pass.
    Step 9
    Add a Post Shave Balm to add some moisture back into the shaven skin. Work in thoroughly to get deep moisturization.
    Step 10
    Admire your beautifully shaven head.

      I got my SMP done about 6 months ago here in NYC they did a Fantastic Job. I did it while I still have plenty of hair left, I was just thinning frontal area and Crown area, not really bald spots. Either Way I am very happy I did it. Shaving every other day is alot of work. With that being said, it is very thirsty, which means I have to continue applying small drops of water to keep it slick, which it states in the directions. Cremo keeps the skin on my head happy, nick and irritation free! I want to try your other latherless shave creams scents when I've used up all my current stock of original cream. The only thing I would add to newcomers to the shaving your head world is, shave your head down to the scalp before you use a blade on your head. I have an electric skull razor that gets it down to a smooth finish. If I want to get rid of any additional stubble then I use a razor for the rest and it is much easier and better for the health of your scalp.

    • @Sincere82
      @Sincere82 4 роки тому +4

      Darwin Nelms if you are like me and have curly hair meaning you may be african american you shave with the grain.... This will leave your hair laying in the proper way it supposed to come out the pores. Shaving against the grain will have your hair curl inside the skin/pores thus leaving you with razor bumps. I know i have been through it and once an African American barber explained it to me i never had problems with razor bumps in the back of my neck or anywhere on head again. Also make sure you wash your head then place a hot rag/towel first before applying shaving cream and shaving. This will clean the dead cells off your scalp as well as heat your hair and make them soft. People say against the grain bc it will give you a very close shave going that way may help you not have to shave for 2-3 days but it will also give you razor bumps bad bc the hair will curl and not come out the pores.... I shave every 1-2 days with the grain 2 passes over the head it only takes 5-10 mins so if i have to shave everyday to maintain that smoove feeling id rather do that than have razor bumps... Also make sure you are using an all natural shaving cream if you have sensitive skin bc the alcohol and ingrediants in most shaving creams will irritate your skin.

    • @lequanlee

    • @Sincere82
      @Sincere82 3 роки тому +1

      @@lequanlee I started using Gillette ultra-sensitive shaving cream after washing my head with hot water, then I have a bottle of coconut oil in a travel size bottle mixed with 3 drops of tea tree oil. I started putting a thin coat of coconut oil/tea tree oil (10 drops) from the travel size bottle mixture as a base layer on head then the shaving cream after the coco oil and it worked like a charm. What I do use as a natural after shave is the Humphreys all natural witch hazel (3/4 bottle), mixed with about (1/4) of coconut oil which should fill the witch hazel bottle back up, and then 3-5 drops of tea tree oil but the real tea tree oil without additives in it. This after shave works like a charm and it also moisturizes your head too so you do not have to add anything else to it. I also use the Gillette skin guard razor, it’s a double blade but the blades are spaced out. This has been keeping bumps away. Some people may be mad because of Gillette views on things, but i have to use what’s best for me. They have a special where you get a free handle and free blade for $4 shipping if you want to try it. This is the first time i have been able to keep the bumps and burn under control. I hope this helps you.

    The head need to be trimmed way lower than what he is shaving! All you have to do is use a simple pair of trimmers, and they will leave, maybe a 1/16" of hair left on your head. The following procedure is what I do, and it works like a charm: I first, shave my head with a slightly used razor, that will eliminate a very sore scalp after shaving. Also, I simply use Vaseline Intensive Cream when shaving my head. I shave my head every other night, and at night only! Then I apply Every Man Jack Mattifying Face Lotion to keep my scalp from drying out. The next morning, when I am ready to leave for the day, I wash my head 2-3 times with Irish Spring Soap. Those washings will take off all of the Every Man Jack Mattifying Face Lotion, and will completely take off any oil left on my scalp. I do NOT apply ANYTHING to my bald scalp, and have very little oil or shine that appears durning the day; it is quite minimal, and is really not noticeable. After many trials & errors, the above works like a charm. All the topical oils, creams, etc., are just a waste of money, and DO NOT WORK! I hope the above helps others, as I know how I felt with a shining, glowing bald head. It is nice not to even be concerned about checking my bald head durning the day.

    Sorry but that was a terrible way to shave your head for a black guy, he's going to have sooo many razor bumps. Use trimmers first to take the hairs off then shave with the grain for less Irritation.

    • @CremoCompanyGrooming
      @CremoCompanyGrooming  5 років тому +7

      He did indeed shave with trimmers before starting with the razor. He then shaved with the grain on the first pass and reported a few days later it was still feeling smooth! It was Darius' first-time going fully clean shaven on the head and did feedback he might keep it that way. He definitely rocked the look.

    I use Cremo products. Awesome stuff. But head shaving is best done in the shower. Shave every other day or so. The more stubble or growth, the harder to shave. And stay out of the sun.

      Our Shave Cream is not a foaming shave preparation. Foam is made of air bubbles, and air is not a good lubricant. It's all about providing a slippery layer between the blade and the skin. We can assure you that it makes for a pleasant shaving experience!

    Kind of misrepresenting their own product, you shouldn't need to reapply that many times as it's a concentrate, you just re-wet the area, unless it really thins out, Cremo is very thirsty.

    • @CremoCompanyGrooming
      @CremoCompanyGrooming  5 років тому +1

      You can definitely re-use from the previous pass if there is still some product left over! Ideally this video is for first time head shavers, and the more they get used to the technique the less time they'll have to re-apply. Thanks!
