This is some of the most helpful, and interesting content ever! Being a 3D artist for a flight simulator, it's amazing having UA-cam videos like these. Thanks so much Obet maz747!
The entirety of the 747 is awsome, but an up close of the hydraulic flap mechanisms is amazing! All those moving parts means all that maintaining and repair for optimal safe performance...mind boggling!
As an A&P maintenance mechanic. i would really like to thank you for your videos, great and in depth details, straight forward, and easy/clear explanation . Makes it much easier to understand what I'm studying. thanks Captain Obet
Absolutely IMMACULATE video of the inner, complex workings of what most people will never see or understand otherwise. So many moving parts. It is amazing to see in it's operational form. Thank you, my friend.
Sir, you are really catering to the needs of aviation enthusiasts ……. it took me ( observing, reading, and when, if available, appropriate asking) years to compile the knowledge your so vividly presenting. I cant thank you enough, Salute!
It’s because I was trying to capture as much of the moving parts as possible- I only had this one opportunity- it’s irritating and I apologise- will try something better if I get another chance
My lovely Jakarta and terminal A with Lions stands behind your stand K15. So many times I began flights from this terminal. And I love B747 as well. I flew this aircraft also. Maybe I’ll return to Indonesia again somehow.
I really love the 747. It has been my favorite arliner since I was a child. Played hundreds of hours over various MSFS installments on PC. Wished it was properly simulated in the newest one, but sadly it has many problems. Your videos though are a great help to compensate the pain over that issue. Please show us more about this beatiful piece of engineering and aviation history! If you have not already, consider me intrested in the hydraulic and fuel system!
If you're interested in a perfectly modelled B747-400 simulator then take a look at www.aerowinx.com I use it and just use MSFS for the visuals only. The user forum is very active too.
My passion is for the B747’s, L-1011’s, and Airbuses’! B707 and DC-8 amongst others had their own legacy, but the former two and the Twin-Engined Wide bodies of Airbus were remarkable milestones!
jack screw is literally open in the air how much dust or garabge it collect seems like they have to be cleaned every month or checked every flight i dont know
Older planes like the 747 have a "thrust gate" which is a gap in the flaps where the engine thrust passes through. The inboard gap on the 747 houses the all-speed aileron. Modern planes like the A380 have flaps all across the wing and these capture thrust on takeoff and channel it downwards, reducing the takeoff run distance. Some planes also use the all-speed aileron as a flap or as a flap/spoiler as well, called a flaperon. Airbuses don't have all-speed ailerons though, it's a Boeing thing only. Maybe the A300/A310 had them though.
@Pilot_obet have you considered taking multiple cameras showcasing multiple views aft and foward and putting the two videos side by side or top and bottom so people can see ALL the flaps in seqence?
No, Krueger flaps are not known as slats. They are 2 different leading edge devices. The Krueger flaps fold out from under the leading edge to increase the wings camber or “curve” to increase lift. Slats are attached to the front of the leading edge and when they extend the push out forward and down to open a slot gap between itself and the wing so that high pressure air from the bottom of the wing to energise the top air and reduce stall speed. The 747 as only Krueger flaps and no slats. Planes like the 737 has both. Krueger flaps between the fuselage and engines and slats outside the engines towards the wingtips.
They should be called Krueger Slats rather that flaps. Slats are not slotted and are fitted to the leading edge of the wing. Flaps are known to be at the trailing edge of the wing and most aircraft including small aircraft don't have slotted, or have slotted flaps. Ohh well, still, awesome.
I know- sorry. If I’d stayed on one aspect, then you’d miss the other and only get one view. I needed three cameras but as it happened- it was impromptu when the engineers said they needed to check something on the flight controls
Ha ha- I apologise- early filming days etc. getting there..in addition, some of these opportunities only arise suddenly…I arrive at the aircraft and they say ‘ oh captain we are just going to exercise the flaps before your dispatch- nothing planned😊
@@pilot_obet Sorry for the tripod remark. In fact your videos about the "systems" and to see them work is very informative (I am also a private pilot since 1980), so to see the mechanics is wonderful, please do more with a "little more stability". !! Thanks !

Stop moving the darn camera as if you had the shivvers! We view because we want to see the actual operation...definitively...not in the4 flash of a scroll-by
Those trailing edge flaps on the 747 are GIGANTIC. Gives you a totally different sense of scale and proportion seeing them from the ground!

I’m pretty fascinated at the engineering behind this. Great video

The people who build these planes are absolute masters!
It is amazing how massive those wings are on the 747! Thank you for the great video!
That was amazing to watch! Those jack screws are massive. Thank you again, great video!
thanks
I'd love to see Orville & Wilbur's comments on their standing there with you after they were "beamed" forward in time from 1903!
Thank you Captain for another wonderful lesson! Later!
Nice. Gorgeous! I really liked to see and hear the jack screws turning ! Aarre Peltomaa
You can hear the APU sagging under load when the mechanization is moving. Thank you, this is interesting.
How did I not know about your channel before?!
Your content is incredible, definitely a new top fan here. Safe flying, keep the videos coming!
My pleasure.
Great video my friend. See you on the next one.
Thank you for walk outside if the aircraft. It is always nice to do that.
You are welcome. I love aircraft and Aviation Industry in general.
The 47 wing has a large enough chord when it's 'clean'. But wow, with the flaps, the Kuregers and slots deployed, look how enormous is the camber !!
Why do you keep moving the camera?
Thanks for the video.

the boeing 747 is a wonderful machine. She's big, powerful, nimble and retains a lot of speed when maneuvering

Just Brilliant, to Joe average you don't realise how all these systems work. Well done.

Nice video! Shared on my FB page "Boeing 747 The Queen of the Skies" !
Cool- thanks 😊
Will join group👍🏾
curious, and cant find it, what is the sq footage of full flaps? know no flaps is 5,200 sq ft.
Just Brilliant.
Can you post the same video for 747-8? Thank you!
MSFS Developer ASobo needs to take note of this video and the few others, they STILL cannot get this sequence correct.

how do rear flaps affect, affect engine gases, and how engine gases affect the flaps ???
Older planes like the 747 have a "thrust gate" which is a gap in the flaps where the engine thrust passes through. The inboard gap on the 747 houses the all-speed aileron.

Awesome and very detailed Video..one of the best Videos I seen about Planes 👍👍
Thank you
👍 Looks like barn doors !
Were the Krueger flaps named after the park?
The flap alone is worth watching just to retract it self back to full descent and ascent
Choose one convenable position, focussing one subject I.e the jack screw and stay on the spot .
I know- sorry…getting better at it😀
Comandante o senhor apresentou um conteúdo espetacular, parabéns !
Beautiful....!
The 747 does not simply deploy or retract flaps.... It deconstructs and rebuilds its wings inflight.
It's like a Transformer, lol
Not my favorite plane.
But I appreciate all the vids and aviation knowledge you share with us..
Keep up the great work..
Thanks- it’s ok not to like the plane too😊
@@pilot_obet I dont know about that, how can any sane person dislike the Queen? 😱😱
Triple slotted flaps? Or triple slotted fowler flaps?
Great channel, Captain! I just subbed to it. Can't locate the flap extension video, could you please link it?

Instead of the pies it is Mi Goreng at WIII.
Very nice!
How exactly are you extending / retracting these on the ground - are the hydraulics pressurized?
I’m assuming it’s with the APU
Yes the air driven hydraulic pumps number 1 and 4 are on and pressurise the system. Powered by the APU
Hey Obet. Just wanna know what you think of Cathay Pacific officially closing Cathay Dragon?
Not good obviously- big impact on people/families.
@seadeer923 thats CAPTAIN obet to you, us and I. He has earned that respect.
Great!
later! :)
COOL
That’s awesome, and sad they are kicked out of many airlines fleet...
What do you mean?
Great video but the constant fading in of "Pilot_obet video" is really annoying!
I know- I apologise. Will use a microphone properly for such videos next time. It will be better.
Camera guy: film everything except the thing that is moving
And all those hydraulic motors are attached to wing boxes that hold the fuel tanks..
0:31 the wing is broken
Love it 😍😍😍😍
Anyone got some Windex and a cloth?
This is a PW 4000 powered aircraft thus only a normal 747-400 Freighter and not the ER model as they only have CF6 ENGINES.
Incorrect- the Cathay Pacific B747-400’s are ERF versions with Pratt’s- check
Boeing did offer RR, P&W as well as GE. The only customer for the passenger ER, Qantas, took theirs with GE.
Mantap ini di CGK ya

This is exactly the question I had from watching this video. What's the difference between Krueger flaps and slats?
👍👍👍
Very different from the C-5
Wow so bigs...
And that is how a plane that cruises at 0.85 Mach can land at 125 kts.
