You know, when you're coming up as an artist you're always trying to find ways to be true to yourself but also figure out the path to getting that larger exposure. Kendrick is the type of artist that took his time cooking up his perfect recipe. Sure on the one hand he may not have had the mass appeal but he had all kinds of acclaim. But not having that mass appeal makes people think "what's all the fuss about", this beef with Drake, the collaborations with Mustard & Taylor Swifts producer on the GNX album, and now the features with SZA, while still being lyrical, I think that's why the general public is now like "Wow, he's really an Artist and not just a rapper".
