The Legend Diver was my first swiss watch in the collection. It remains of the most versatile pieces out there and certainly has the among greatest presentation boxes in the industry. The 1967 Heritage Diver Chrono with the red bezel is absolutely stunning as well and can be picked up in the $2k range.
A GMT function on a dive watch isn't about having to "track two time zones while underwater." If one is going SCUBA diving, it may be very likely that one is already tracking two time zones....because getting to the dive site may have required plane travel. A GMT function is convenient for travel, whether one goes swimming or not. Even if there is no SCUBA diving, travel to another time zone, and swimming-when-you-get-there, often go together. (That's just a regular beach-type vacation.)
I’ve been looking all over at different dive watches to choose to get as a gift to myself after I get my diving license later this year. Keep coming back to the oris aquis.
I just ordered a Seamaster Professional 300 and it will be my 4th "dive watch" in my rotation. I'm one of the 99.99% that will never dive with my watches but I like the aesthetic of divers, for sure. I'm glad to see the Zodiac made your list since that is one of mine and a really fun watch. You had some really fantastic options in your list. Great vid, as always!
Was actually looking thru internet for a diver To add to my still one watch collection thanks alot teddy . I might go with one of those . 23 years and finally I'm spending for something that fullfil my self
I'm sure this will be an unpopular choice but my Squale 1521 has spent a lot of time in the water with me on 30-50m dives in UK waters plus kayaking and surfing and its been fantastic. I've got it on an Isofrane strap and the orange of the strap paired with the bright blue face always brings compliments. The lume isn't the best, certainly compared to my Marine master but still a great watch.
That wonderful Muehle makes most contemporary sports watches look just clumsy. The mesmerizing dial looks like an ocean in itself, then the subtle color contrasts, the use of space, the elegantly curved shapes. Best watch design in ages! (Typing while wearing a lovely $300 Dan Henry Compressor.)
Hi Teddy, I have a really hard question at hand and can’t seem to make up my mind. An omega aqua terra 38mm blue dial bracelet or Grand Seiko SBGA413 Spring Sakura Dial. They’re very similar in price and my style is very casual or smart casual.
I am wearing Baltic Aquascaphe. Priced at 750 bucks, I can vouch for the quality and finishing. Not to mention it has Miyota 9039, which is regulated. Totally worth every cent i paid. But if you can't afford to pay above $500 , get Orient Kamasu. $300 bucks and you are good to go.
The Neptune was on my radar most of last year, but I never pulled the trigger. In December I discovered that it was being discontinued, so I immediately found one of the last blue dials available. I have to say it is an absolutely amazing watch, and I feel it hits way above it's weight. Other than the bracelet, which is definitely lower cost, the watch itself simply does not disappoint. I get more compliments on my Seiko kinetic green dial on a Nato band, but I still find myself reaching for my Neptune every day. It just feels so much more solid than any of my other watches and I couldn't be happier that I was able to find one before they went away.
I have a Marathon jsar 2 gen. the big one ,quartz without tritium. I got it in 2010 and enjoyed it for a few years ,but later on they started looking a little bit oversized for me , i am a big dude 6.2" / 230lbs and the watch looks proportional to my body/wrist/hand it's just then more i am getting in to the watches more i like them smaller, 38-40mm it's what i am like to wear right now. So what i am trying to say is that - pay attention to the size of the marathons SAR line, they go in 36-42-46 mm's wide but are the same height ,they are "tall and square" , so make sure you understand the size of the watch. But once you accept the outline/silhouette/shape of the piece you will love it ,if you asked me to describe it in few words I'll say it's a small tank on your wrist 😂 and that face hands bezel design looks fresh after all these years , enjoy!😊
I would choose the tissot, because its swiss made and a 300m water resistant watch. It's also a swiss made movement. That would be my pick from this vid. Great content Tommy!
Have a look at the Certina DS Action Diver, the new 38mm version is fantastic. Powermatic 80 movement, ISO 6425 Diver, 300m, Sapphire crystal, lume is not the best but nice dial and hands. Very underrated brand!
The Hydroconquest was in your recent Building the perfect collection video but was not mentioned in this video, and not even in the 45 watches list. I have a 2k budget and am seriously considering the Hydroconquest. Glad it was mentioned in the last video but now it's kinda confusing. Can you please explain? What are your thoughts on the Hydroconquest?
Terry, did you consider the YEMA dive watches? 1. Non-standard, good looks, 2. Very wearable (39mm for the Navygraf, 39 or 41mm for the Superman) and 3. good value-for-money (750 and around 1200, respectively). Cheers, from Germany
Hi Teddy, one interesting thing with Formex is that they include all taxes and duties in the purchase of the watch. That will definitely benefit those who purchase from the US, and it even makes the price point of the Reef that much more attractive. I picked up a Christopher Ward Trident for Christmas and the duties were well over $100. I'm new to your channel, really enjoying it. Thank you for all the work that you put into the content.
I have 2 Tissot Seastars. 1 green and one blue. Also a PRS 519 automatic chronograph and a day/date powermatic 80. My 1958 Omega automatic tank watch is my favorite. But I would go for the Muhle. Having a BMW motorcycle I find it interesting they used to make instruments for my favorite brand of motorcycles
Always a good synopsis. As an experienced diver I would only use my Duro, basically if it gets lost or damaged, not the end of the world. Not that one really needs a watch underwater these days. .....
Saving up my money to buy one of those sweet Formex divers and definitely going to go through your site. Love the videos and happy to support your channel.
I'm not sure the best venue to advance some suggestions so here I am... 1. I'd love to see Taddy tackle putting together a watch collection for ladies. Maybe even several at different price points. My own wife likes a watch based on looks and has no interest in the details, i.e fashion watches. The challenge is finding watches that look desirable for fashion watch lovers but have some credibility for us watch followers. 2. Following on from the very entertaining video on children looking at watches, I'd love to see watch collection videos for children. Rather than price points, they could be age groups. BTW I'm just putting together a 3 watch collection for my ten yo: Casio W800 beater, Timex Mk1 36mm (if I can find one) for school , Seiko SNK793 for weekends. These ideas would add some new considerations that Teddy may not have had to deal with before.
I got the Marathon and I like the way it looks and love the lume. But the crown and it's surround are far too large. It digs into my wrist and hand badly and I have a larger wrist (7 3/4). I ended up buying an Orient and we'll see how it feels
I think dive watches are loved by the working man, b/c they look good while being tank-ish, with a splash of color. One can scratch the crap out of them, and it can just give them character.
Can you talk about the patina of bronze watches. Is it avoidable or are the watches designed to be very old look. I think the patina looks good but if I'm spending that much money I want it to look new.
The price for the Sinn U50 is incorrect with $ 2,180. It is actually $ 2,380 with the strap (like in the video) and $ 2,430 with the bracelet. The U50 is currently not available in the US and is scheduled to arrive in April. I own a U1-T and it's a great watch perfect for a 7" wrist.
Nice job Teddy.....I took the “dive” .... will receive my Doxa sub 200 Divingstar (yellow) on the bracelet tomorrow. A little push from your sub 200 video, the color is awesome. I’m tempted to buy the matching rubber strap.
I have an Orient Ray 2 and I dislike it's physical time keeping ability. Granted, I started with a Seiko SNA411 quartz watch and of course they keep excellent time being quartz so perhaps I had an unrealistic expectation of the budget automatic movement in the Ray 2. I recently purchased my 1st dream watch that is the Medium I believe 36mm Marathon SAR with the quartz movement and I am so in love with it. Such a brilliant watch and I like that I don't have to fiddle fudge with it all the time like I do the Ray. My only complaint is that the seconds hand doesn't line up perfectly all the time. Do you know how that could be corrected?
I love dive watches but always bulk at paying more than 300 for one mostly because I actually use them for water sports surfing, SUP, snorkeling and occasionally diving(although a modern wrist dive computer is more useful and also functions as a watch) it just hard for me to want drop a lot o money on something I know I'm going to beat the hell out of and could potentially lose if not careful. The Orient watches for give me a great watch at price point that I find acceptable given my own needs. They trully are good value for the money.
Lots of good choices presented. The world of dive watches fits every budget and preferred style. Well done. The Formex and Oris Aquis Date are the top modern dive watches of those presented. The Marathon is the most tool-like. For a vintage look, I am partial to the Longines Legend Dive Watch and the Rado Captain Cook from those listed.
I'm glad you don't play that irritating intro in every video. After watching everyone on CensorUA-cam copy one another, it's refreshing to see a video that gets going and doesn't waste any time with an Intro.
Tremendous video here, Teddy! I have the Baltic Aquascaphe you called out here and can say from experience it is very cool and people notice the look of it which is great and it's very accurate - runs 2 seconds a day regulated by Baltic from new. That said, there's three pieces that I learned about here that really stood out for me: 3. Marathon MSAR (and looking at your site, the GSAR) is very cool - also has the connection to Canada for me. 2. Muhle Glashutte Promare Go - very nice piece with high quality in my opinion. 1. Longines Legend Diver - this thing is SPECTACULAR in my opinion, especially with the milanese strap it was on. Great watch with a different take and a great dial. That one feels the most likely to fit well in an office environment. Great video as always!
I got actual diving license just because I felt bad not being able to dive even though I own more than one of these (omega and vintage swiss armys), ended to be the best decision I made in my life. Can't wait till the phancetta* ends so I can use them again on their intended habitat. Love them so much.
I need a super tough dive/everyday watch preferably thin and no larger than 40mm if it wears small. I lean towards traditional sizes. around 5k :) thanks
Wonder if smth like the C60 Lympstone from Christopher Ward would fit into this video. 1,200 USD approx, ceramic bezel, COSC certified SW200-1 mvt, 600m water resistance, carbon composite dial and a very nice Royal Marines seal of approval on the caseback, etc.
I would love you to review the "Bond" Omega's . It's my dreamwatch and hope i can afford one some day . Since they are very expensive for me as a single father.
Charlie Paris is launching their 300M Concordia February 23th I believe. It features an ETA movement. I found out about them after looking for watches that integrate the Seiko VH31 sweeping second hand Quartz movement. Apparently the previous iteration of the one to be launched was worn during a Guiness World Record trek across the South Pole in 2019. Looks like a great option too. Of course personally I'd settle for 200M and splurge on a Tudory BB58 or go with the Seiko Prospex SPB143J1.
Great video. Another Sinn dive watch i can recommend is the EZM 3. With its 500m WR , tons of Sinn tech, classic Sinn case shape and wearable proportions under $2300 new on bracelet it is a interesting original option. As a person who has owned both U1 and U50 the U50 just feels like a kids version of the U1. The U1 is purpose driven, easy to use , in your face original diver. The U50 with everything shrunk down doesnt have the presence or functionality(bezel and crown are not as easy to use) that the U1 has. If you want a smaller Sinn diver the EZM 3 is a great option and if you want a larger original design get the original..get the U1.
I’d take the Monta Ocean King, Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Longines Legend diver and Oris Aquis over the ones mentioned. Different strokes for different folks.
Haven't watched through the list yet, but my one and only dive watch, a Vostok Amphibia, is a lovely watch. Under a hundred bucks for a screw down crown and free rotating bezel on a 200m automatic watch is hard to knock.
Teddy love your high quality videos. There is a problem I noticed with this one. In the description where you have several links to your other vids, there's an error with a link to the Seiko LX comparison.
I’ve got the Marathon GSAR and it’s got everything I could ask for. The tritium is bright and clear at night. My only complaint is my 65 year old eyes can’t read the tiny print on the 24 hour dial.
Orient Kano is my top choice. I show it to my friends and explain what's in it for the low price of 182 euros and they can't believe it. I love that watch
Great lineup. I have several cheaper dive watches--orient mako 2, seiko skx, magrette moana pacific diver. What's your opinion on getting cheaper watches serviced? I think the cost of service might actually be more than the watch.
I have the Rado Captain Cook, the Oris 65, the Longines Skin Diver and the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. All of them are great watches. Love them all.

“A lot of work...” ...and it shows. Such high value content for we watch enthusiasts who don’t have the Rolex budget. T.B. is UA-cam at its best!
That green Formex looks great,, but a fully tegimented U50, would be the one for me,, Great video btw,,,
TEDDY IS A POET. We love and appreciate your contribution to the watch Community! Love you bro !!!
The yellow Doxa looks amazing and I am hoping to get my hands on one soon.
Me too! Also looking at Certinas new 38mm dive watches
issue with made in china parts
@@jamesnicol3831 do you also have this “issue” with omega and nearly every other Swiss brand that exists today?
The Formex is the real stand out with the quality for that price range. They're really killing it from what I can see!
I just ordered a Seamaster Professional 300 and it will be my 4th "dive watch" in my rotation. I'm one of the 99.99% that will never dive with my watches but I like the aesthetic of divers, for sure. 23 years and finally I'm spending for something that fullfil my self
Would love to see more mentions of the Stowa ProDiver and SeaTime lines. They look stellar.
The Doxa and the Sinn U50 stand out for me . Also Certina have a couple of great watches
The marathon msar definitely! Almost like love at first sight
How about a CW C60 Trident M3? For under 1k I think it should be considered on the list.
Kind of a weird exclusion. Mido as well.
Ball Watch overlooked. (Fireman NECC would seem a natural for this list). This happens so often it is barely worth mentioning.
I'm sure this will be an unpopular choice but my Squale 1521 has spent a lot of time in the water with me on 30-50m dives in UK waters plus kayaking and surfing and its been fantastic. Just bought Seiko 5 from the Sports Suits line with a black dial and a Milanese strap and I enjoy the look 😎
Hi Teddy, I have a really hard question at hand and can’t seem to make up my mind. An omega aqua terra 38mm blue dial bracelet or Grand Seiko SBGA413 Spring Sakura Dial. They’re very similar in price and my style is very casual or smart casual.
That Formex diver does look killer...

But if you can't afford to pay above $500 , get Orient Kamasu. $300 bucks and you are good to go.
I'm not a big fan of Breitling but I think the super ocean on the mesh strap is a winner.
The Neptune was on my radar most of last year, but I never pulled the trigger. In December I discovered that it was being discontinued, so I immediately found one of the last blue dials available. Seiko Mini Turtle is also a good choice, if you can find it. Better for smaller wrists compared to the Turtle and King Turtle, with the same movement
I think it depends on hand size and diametre of wrist, not circumfrence
@@oscarosullivan4513 Yes, it depends on the profile of the wrist, but wrist circumference is a good starting point for watch size
@@paulvogelberg9416 Regular turtle seems to be available from nearest ad whereas mini turtle might involve more of a hunt

Seiko Samurai should be on the list. Great video! Much love
Seiko could get its own video alone. Had to make some omissions. Thanks for watching!

Still waiting for a list on everyday watches 38MM and under! Keep up the good work! 😎

Based on putting up the $$ myself; it would be the Tissot Seastar.

Christopher Ward C60 Trident divers are second to none. You missed the boat Teddy on this brand. Great video, make sure you and Courtney stay safe. 😷
Their logo could use a rework though, looks basic and cheap lol
I don't know why, but I love doxa.

How is the lume
@@oscarosullivan4513 I'm not a diver, so, I never think about lume.

Apparently the previous iteration of the one to be launched was worn during a Guiness World Record trek across the South Pole in 2019.
Looks like a great option too. Of course personally I'd settle for 200M and splurge on a Tudory BB58 or go with the Seiko Prospex SPB143J1.
wish marathon made the 41mm gsar with the polar dial. it looks really nice on that 36mm model.
They do! Artic GSAR
Do you "Aviate" with your aviator or navitmier? :)) Or race with racing watches?
How could you possibly not include the Doxa 300T in this list?? It is more iconic and more capable than just about every other watch you mentioned.
The U1 is essentially unwearable unless you have jackhammer forearms, it looked cartoonish on my wrist when I tried it.
I choose you, Teddy Bulbasaur!
Teddy Bulbasaur used Roar of Time... it’s super effective!
Lol!
I'm still itching to buy a Seiko Tuna... god help me.
Hi Teddy, why don’t I see you mentioning any watches from Tag Heuer?
I’d take the Monta Ocean King, Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Longines Legend diver and Oris Aquis over the ones mentioned. Different strokes for different folks.
I think about 3 were strong, and the rest looked like weak sellers too me...
Aquaracer is not diver watch.
Why isn’t the hydroconquest on this list (not rhetorical)?
Haven't watched through the list yet, but my one and only dive watch, a Vostok Amphibia, is a lovely watch. Under a hundred bucks for a screw down crown and free rotating bezel on a 200m automatic watch is hard to knock.
Teddy love your high quality videos.
There is a problem I noticed with this one.
In the description where you have several links to your other vids, there's an error with a link to the Seiko LX comparison.
FYI your Blog article 45 best dive watches link is dead
Great job thanks for all the cool pieces 👍
I really like the looks of the Christopher Ward C60 sapphire, a somewhat overlooked stunning piece!
