    The Glashutte is beautiful, as is the Longines Legend - I will have to pick one of those up eventually. Quite reasonably priced.

      Honestly, if I had the money, I'd be putting the Glashutte next to my Seamaster right now... They make such a quirky pair. Thanks for the comment, brother

    As a subscriber to 20+ watch channels I can honestly say that was my most enjoyed ‘watch’ over the last few months. Excellently researched and presented it’s hard to find one you may have missed. And the bonus, no mention of Rolex. Bravo ID Guy.

    • @ID-Guy
      @ID-Guy  4 роки тому +3

      That really means a lot Mal, thank you! It's hard to be original at the best of times... but hey, throw some design into the mix with a bit of history and some great pieces, it's pretty hard to fail ;) PS. I haven't made a Rolex video in a month or two at this point... pretty amazing how my boredom affects production hahaha!

      @@ID-Guy I just discovered your channel some days ago and have seen some 5-6 videos. For each of them I think, that you have a very unique style, but by far one of the most interesting. Original and full of historic knowledge are some of your key strengths and as I mainly like watches with a history, your videos are gems for me. And you often have an angel I don't see elsewhere, especially re themes like this. I like this a lot over the normal one-watch-review most channels do.
      So keep up the good job, I really like your videos and think it will be hard to find one, I don't enjoy!

    I love my Legend Diver! I look forward to being able to wear it with a suit to work again when we're past this lockdown, or dress it down to the beach. I feel it's one of the most versatile watches ever built at an affordable price, especially used.

    • @kencur9690
      @kencur9690 3 роки тому +1

      You’d wear it to the beach? I don’t know man. I swam in mine (in a pool) but I wouldn’t take it anywhere near sand. And I don’t think I’ll swim with it either even though it’s a diver. Usually I like to use a watch as intended... but I’m really into this one and I think I’ll keep it as a summer “dress” watch - it’s just so cool!

      b dev I’m wearing mine right now. I love the funky Arabics, the slim case and how the bracelet radically tapers down to a minimalist clasp. I owned the Longines Legend Skindiver and the LLD as well but flipped both due to the overlong lugs and larger cases.

      I have one in black, absolutely love the quarter numbers in ‘negative’ against the lume. The typeface has an awesome vintage vibe as well. What a great list of watches here IDGuy. I must say that a reissue diver that has caught my eye recently is by CWC (Cabot Watch Company), The ‘1980 Royal Navy Diver’ (Reissue). This is a Reissue of the Automatic watch that replaced the Rolex Milsub as the divers watch to the British Royal Navy.
    The original is said to be probably the rarest Milsub ever made for Royal Navy diving units. Be quick though, the reissue is limited to just 600 pieces and stock is low on the first batch.
    As always, a top notch job here my friend. Videos like this are a testament to why we keep coming back for more! ✊

    Great review! Omega Seamaster '57 Trilogy and Seiko Willard (SLA033) are amazing pieces. True classics in this genre. Shame to miss out the Seiko '68 diver (SLA025) with the Grand Seiko movement - interesting in dive terms as Helium proof and with a solid case - important for setting Seiko's design language going forward and very different from the European manufactures. Unlike the '62MAS - a nice but slightly derivative and generic reference. While some re-issues are amazing, it does make you ask where the modern classics will come from. Only Tudor (Pelagos), Sinn and Omega (Diver 300) seem to be designing clean sheet modern divers. Everyone else is highly retrospective - a lack of ideas?

      @@ID-Guy I think you will find the Super Ocean 1957 a disappointment as compared to the Super Ocean Heritage II. It's probably more faithful to the original but a 100 meter water resistance more a surf and beach watch and not in the same class as the watches you covered. IDGuy if the Zodiac Seawolf was ever in stock I’d have 4 of these watches for sure!! These vintage reissues are really so great; touch a place in my heart and buff up my nostalgia in just such a great way. My dad had a Seiko Cpt. Willard and a Zodiac Aerospace Jet (24 hour) watch both purchased in Vietnam. As a kid I remember just loving those and thinking they were the coolest things. I have spent a long time trying to scratch those itches!! The reissues just keep getting better and better!!

    I'm happy to say I owned both the Oris 65 & Longines Legend Diver. Both is amazing but the LLD is better build & scream quality every spot,,, from it mass, solid shark mesh bracelet & sharp & crisp print,,, I'm pretty surprised you can get so much for that price point, most important is sit on my wrist really really well.
    Great review IDG!

    Amazing video. Great depth you cover here. Personally I love my vintage style divers without the false patina. I love gilt, smaller cases, even ceramic bezels if not too shiny. Although acrylic is my preference, sapphire can work if done right. The only aspect I cannot agree with is the false patina. For me wearing a watch over the years and getting scratches, nicks, discolouration, loss of lume, ect is the beauty of having a tool that's so functional but something that ages with you through the years.

    Even though I'm a huge Omega fan, I've been dreaming of a Blancpain FF 40mm for years. So rare and expensive even on the used market. Im tempted to just get a submariner or the 45mm version (way too big!) every now and then but imho that would be settling for a slightly less desired outcome. No offense, Rolex fan boys (Ive got a Pepsi). Cheers

    Love your content. One suggestion: strike the word "very" from your scrips. It weakens the point your are trying to strengthen, especially when you use it with the word "unique" which CANNOT be modified. Unique is binary--it either is or isn't. There aren't degrees of uniqueness yet you say "very unique" in every video.

    Thanks for a great video! Fun to see my Certina DS PH200M mentioned. IDGuy: I get where your channel name comes from, but are you contemplating changing the channel name to something more watch specific? I think that potentially might help your channel grow faster. Cheers. :-)

      @@ID-Guy I so wish they would. It infuriates me that they don't. They're almost worse than Omega when it comes to special editions. Their best stuff (Milspec, Barracuda, AIR COMMAND(!}) are always super small batch limited editions. But at least with Omega if you miss out on a LE Speedmaster there will be another one in 3 weeks. With Blancpain it's just gone, even the Hoodinkee.

    So far, I have a Yema Superman Heritage Blue, the Oris 65 Diver, a Zodiac Super Seawolf '68, a Bulova Devil Diver, Seiko Turtle, was thinking of the Omega you show here, but, never saw that Glashutte before; what a beaut! Sadly, the Blancpain Barracuda is a little too rich for me as well as probably sold out. This is THE most awesome watch video EVER!

    I own a FF Bathyscaphe. It’s specs and movement are amazing. On my wrist though, it seems a little under-the-radar (if not underwhelming). Still, it’s a keeper and has its place alongside my Sea-dweller, Breitling Seawolf and my 50th Anniversary GMT Seamaster.

    Please do a segment on so-called "homage" watches, which are of course not in any way homages, but examples of unlicensed usage of another company's ID. These often are solid products and good value for the price, but remain knockoffs. Thanks.

    Cool video. Seems that some of the brand over do the patina on the hands and make them that buttery yellow. The Originals haven't turned that color completely in many cases... I wish they didn't overdo it. It's kind of in-your-face. Anyway, this really was a superb video. Great commentary, nice photography, nice choices.

    The glaschute is the only watch I would consider from this list. The amount of verbal dihareah in this video is beyond my taste, so to speak.
    No links to allow a prospective purchase.
    BP is over rated and insanely over priced..as are most of these watches.
    Keep trying..you might hit a mark here and there.. but not this time.

    Prospex is the line of Seiko watches. Neither the SLA033 or the SLA017 come under that line.
    Both the SLA033 and SLA017 use an 8L35 movement.

    2 things that I like about your videos: the intro is simple and straightforward culminating with the ticking... brilliant ! and the way you relate the things you have to say is clear, precise, efficient and well constructed, and your accent is mild British I guess, but very neutral and easy to understand for any viewer not English-native-speaking. Thank you very much, keep that styling please!

    Of that lot, the Glasshütte SeaQ clearly has my preference, at least the 39mm version. They have really done a stunning job with this model. Price is a tad steep though, even for the level of quality expected of GO. Nevertheless, I was about to pull the trigger on it, but then Sinn came out with the U50, and I decided that I needed a tough watch rather than a pretty one (I have plenty of those already). Also agree that the Barakuda is the best vintage inspired diver that Blancpain has come up with in recent years.

    I quite agree with you that the Breitling Superocean Heritage II is the most formal in appearance. I own one with a mesh bracelet and couldn't be happier. Also, you are correct in saying the Breitling is not much talked about. The most interesting thing about the Superocean is that is incorporates a Tudor movement. And it may be the first Breitling movement to have a free sprung balance.

    Went on for a legend diver. I’m even considering now selling everything else. Just perfect. The only downside for the shark mesh that the clasp is not adjustable, but I’m gonna get one.
