I ship it
oh
JackHoward #hammy
Hammy is an A+ ship name.
Don't start Jack, a single comment can launch a thousand ship(er)s!
I ship sammy with pretty much everyone really. He's just so fluffy.when I listen to him talking ,it feels like his soul is hugging me.
i love watching sammy talk about films, his passion just radiates off him, it's amazing
Vina Mistry it’s so lovely to watch xx
i love it i keep rewatching that 10 best films of the year video on his channel, you cant listen to sammy and not fall in love with film
It was very nice of you that you invited Sammy since he's trying to increase his audience and all of that...
Carla P. Malo why is people referencing him growing his channel? Did he say something controversial or is there drama?
ImK4Os I’m pretty sure they’re referencing Dodie’s video (how to mess up you and your friends lives on doddlevloggle, at like 2.25) where Dodie and Sammy swapped phones and Dodie sent a text from Sammy’s to Ben Cook where she said that Sammy wanted to be in the radio 1 show because he was trying to build up his UA-cam audience.
it's a reference to this video: ua-cam.com/video/iw63RMfz3CM/v-deo.html
in which Dodie sends a message using Sammy's phone asking Ben Cook if he could be invited to his radio show because he's "trying to build up his youtube audience at the moment"
I feel like this will never get old. Whenever I see a comment referencing that it makes me chuckle.
i’ve heard he’s trying to grow his channel
Sammy is just great at talking about movies :) He's so passionate i love it
😂😂 Love seeing these two together
im not really all that in to film and cinematography but the way these two talk about it makes me want to be. They're so passionate about it and that makes me want to go out and watch these films and analyse every little bit of them.
Sammy's great at talking. Especially at something that he is clearly So passionate. Glad he's growing his channel out, didnt know if you knew that guys, because he really needs people to hear his voice. So please, subscribe to Sammy. He's trying to grow both as a person and his channel. Gonna need a shit tonne to change either.
I'm so sorry Sammy I love you please forgive me o growthful one
Only Hazel would wear sunglasses inside, in November.
Lynn E Tis was filmed a while ago cuz they’re in Jack and Dans old house XD but still
Yasmine Grace oh yeah youre right haha
It was filmed around Dodie's birthday I think because she is wearing the same outfit. XD bit of Stan moment there...
+That Girl You Know ohhhh yeahh I was literally just watching that video too oml
I love how passionate he sounds ❤️❤️
I haven't seen this film but it sounds really interesting, especially if it is linked to Lost in Translation. I love that film. There was an 80s film where a computer program fell in love with a guy. Obviously wouldn't be as deep as this film, but the concept made me think of it. Love this series. I could talk about films all day! 😊
All I want for christmas is to take part in a conversation with two intelligent, passionate filmmakers about our favourite films.
I love listening to people talk about films
The passion is what makes this sooo great! I love learning about film, as well as people talking about there passion. And also the level of knowledge you two have about film contributes so much to this series because you can really examine all aspects of the movie.
My favorite film is 'Short Term 12.'
Kylie Sparks (!!!!) Thats my favorite too!
Wish Sammy had a vlog channel or something, I always love seeing him on other people's channels but we see so little of him elsewhere!!
He does, its called sammy paul and its a lil treasure trove
I really could sit and listen you you guys talk about films all day. It's strangely therapeutic. I've been feeling shitty and ill all day, this has made me really calm and content ☺️ Thank you
My fave film is 'like sunday like rain' it's beautiful and I cry when I watch it but no one's ever heard of it and there are limited copies
Awh man yes! 'Like Sunday Like Rain' is a gorgeous film
I think I remember you talk about making this series months ago so I'm really happy to see you've continued it and it's crazy interesting to hear you talk about Her. I always find that Sammy is able to put my exact words more elegantly than I could ever. I'm excited to see where this goes & if Sammy returns.
did I pause the video 2 minutes in to watch the 2 hours movie they're talking about... obviously not....
I love this series just so much. The world of women in film is just so narrow that its so good to see someone like Hazel (a woman) talking about the complexities of movies. It shows that women have broad and complex opinions on everything and we aren't simple minded fools.
As a woman who was so discouraged from being in film just because of the lack of representation and validation of women in the industry its so nice to see Hazel killing it. She's someone I look up to and I know will do great things!
This was filmed ages ago right? When you filmed the q&a and dodie's birthday cake Baking with Layton?
The film does a really good job (like you said) of making what he does for a job as being a really sweet thing and I hadn't actually really thought about how weird it was until I watched this video and now I feel so creeped out by it but I think it's a credit to Spike Jones that I have not seen it through that sort of light until it's literally pointed out to me ahah
Love watching two directors just chilling and discussing things they’re passionate about. Thanks y’all for inspiring me to start creating :). I genuinely hope you understand how much your work has moved me to make stuff, Septem is SO GOOD and playground made me tear up. (I literally never cry when watching sad films, so that was insane). Thanks y’all for so much.
I've never seen this film, but listening to such a passionate & intelligent pair of people talk about a movie is for some reason so interesting
I haven't even watched the movie, but listening to you talk about something you are passionate about is so lovely!
Please do more of theseeeee!!! Also you should do a debate version where one person loves the film and the other has a distaste for it and it's a genuine CRITICAL conversation! Lots of love x
my favourite film is The Big Blue/ Le Grande Bleu directed by Besson. It's actually incredible I have never gotten over it.
YES good choice of movie to discuss! 'Her' is one of my absolute favourites and now I desperately need to watch it again❤️
HER!!! YES, one of my all-time favorites as well :D
for me, Her is my favorite or one of my favorite films. There's so much I love about the film and all these different aspects that all draw to the overall beautiful finish of the film, the soundtrack and original score, the subtle sci-fi elements, the unbelievable cinematography, the great performances and the way these characters being portrayed are developed. For me, it spoke to me quite emotionally and deeply when it comes to a study of a character who clearly experiences loneliness and a sort of overall detachment. I could gush for paragraphs about why I love this film so much, it's an absolute masterpiece.
One of my favorite film and my favorite people
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS♡♡♡♡
The scene when she brought someone else to play her disturbed me so much when I saw the film. Something about the way he responds, and that the woman doesn’t have a voice... gah, fucked me up... I give it all the credit, it’s a good film but I couldn’t move past it.
Anyone here seen Sing Street its an irish film and I love it so much. Hazel maight have seen it
At uni, I took a "philosophy through film" class and I had to present on Her through a Buddhist lens (a very basic Buddhism). I've seen Her 3ish times before this project and I had already loved it, but after the project there was so many more topics, ideas, and theories I wanted to explore. I agree, it's not a perfect film, but it's a fantastic film if you're a fan of story telling.
Have I really come to watching passionate people talk about films on the internet?😂
Little black star yes. As have we wall.
Okay, but "Her" surprised me so much. I honestly believed that I wouldn't like it at all, and when I recommend it to others, they often shrug and write it off as "not really their thing". It's just a very pure film, it just shows the human condition and what we could develop into in the future. It shows us what could happen when people still crave and need what we do now but when they don't have the options that we have to fulfill those needs. I found it a very interesting film in its approach to AI and its approach to the very basics of being human. Besides the storyline and the strong writing, the actual cinematography was gorgeous. The choice of colour, costume, camera angles complemented the story in such an array of ways. Also, I have never loved Joaquin Phoenix' acting more than in "Her".
I watched Her earlier this year (on the eve of my birthday, actually, but that's not the point) and I remember being kinda blown away how... human it was? Like I don't think it's often that you get a movie that attempts to explore people as complexly as it tries to, and I remember being very appreciative of that. There were moments where I was expecting characters to do certain things and the film totally subverted my expectations by having them react in much more interesting ways. I need to watch it again.
(Not to mention the colour palette and the way the film was graded just made me go 😍)
I’m so happy to see all of this new content! And I LOVE Hazel and Sammy together, such a funny and intelligent combo!
i could listen to sammy talk about films forever
I love Lost in Translation! "Her" sounds pretty interesting. Your discussions are really great; love seeing some at-length Sammy once again.
i LOVE this series! Please do more!
I love the start of this series. As a film student this is really interesting to me. 💖
loved this! Now... time to watch Her
Great to see this series back.
Love that film.
love this series
This is a great series! Love to see more episodes of it
didn't know what this was gonna be about and was very happy with it, love Her!!
This is such a great series idea. Looking forward to more!
I could listen to you guys talk all day xx
wow i love this so much
Definitely have to go rewatch Her now with this insight.
That's so interesting that you interpret the film as exploring what is life, I have gathered it as what is love? And exploring that boundaries of love, what is it, what can it be? Like it's questioning its definition and what their version of love can be. For example, the comparison between the question of whether being in love with an operating system is justifiable, or if someone else writing your love letters for you is isolating, removing the organic and reality from the love letter just as nature and an organic body is removed from their relationship. It plays with and positions the audience to consider if we feel like a precedent is set for relationships, or if we must align with the average expectations of relationships and continue to live them out as we've been shown, as we've always known them. Spike could be existential about love, what is it? What defines it? Do we have to define it? Must we love like we've been shown? Is that how you love? We could create our own? Where would we start? What would it be? Would it be natural.. No that doesn't sound right.. Would it be right? Would it be okay?
i loved this
To me I know it's a good film/my favourite film if I can watch it at anytime any day
I love Her it's a fascinating film
my favorit film has been "sympathy for lady vengeance" for a long time and i always have so much to say about it, i think its amazing and poetic and different and just so special and id recommend it to everyone. a more recent one that i just havent been able to stop thinking about is blade runner 2049, i think it was executed really well
Yessss it's Hazel and Sammy!!!!!!
So interesting! I have to come back to your channel (and sammy's) to just experience good raw content. Thank you!!
I love this series, Hazel! Also, you inspired me to rematch Her tonight for like the 30000th time
Now I have things to watch thank you😘
This is everythign I've wanted to say about Her but never found the words for omg
sorry but some of my favourite small directors and writers talking about film I AM DOWN FOR THIS
This was so interesting to watch, I agree with a lot of what Sammy and you said, but you guys also made me realize things I didn't notice or think about before. I was nodding and engaging with you, and I bet that I looked so stupid in real life, nodding to a computer screen and saying
'ah, yes' for 10 minutes.
Great Video loved It!!
I’m in love with these!!! More pretty please!
YAY
WHEN did you film this ?! Also, I’ve been meaning to watch this film but kept forgetting, I’m so excited to go watch it now keeping in mind your thoughts! Love this!
I loved this, but I would say, it would be great as a podcast as well, hour longish. Both of your love of film shines through so well it would be great to explore your insights more in a longer timed format. Still brilliant and happy either way frankly
I would have listened to them talk about movies for three hours
This is nice
Honestly, i got like 20 mins into her. and i gave up but i might give it another go. Youve sold it to me
My favourite films? Sully - Miracle in the Hudson, The Imitation Game and Moana. Opinions on any you have seen?
Sammy needs to talk about movies more. Also love u Hazel
Aura Ali Trust me, Sammy does not need to talk about movies more.

I love it so much 👌
lovely X
I always get this film and the Lobster mixed up
Argh, I was hoping we would get to see Hazel's red hair! I guess we gotta wait a little!
Honestly I was expecting Sammy to say Boss Baby for a split second
This is the movie that the moon song is from, right?
ITS TRENDING IN CYPRUS
i thought the title said "taking pictures" and expected you guys to go and take pictures
let me be on this I could talk for days about silence of the lambs
Yes I feel like they did create a whole other universe but again, it was still something accessible to us. It seemed like reality but a bit off.
Now old on. When was this filmed?
Yasmine Grace around dodies birthday
I’m sorry I don’t understand what’s so deep about Scar Jo playing Her? What deeper layer am I missing?
Hazel Adie She played the main character in Lost in Translation
My favourite films:
The social network
The matrix
Non-stop
Prison break
Taken
Gravity
Jurassic Park
My favourite films (No order)
-Love, Rosie
-Brave
-Peter Pan
-Divergent
-My Neighbour Torto
AwkwardNicole I was wondering if I could hear why you like divergent? I just don't like it nearly as much as the book. If you don't want to share thats cool, It's kinda of random lol
That Girl You Know yeah I always thought that the film never portrayed tris correctly, that envy, that spite, anything that made her human (and divergent, as it happens) just got eliminated.
Why not go watch BRB from the Black Mirror anthology, though a female lead dealing with a larger issue the same emotional comparison can be reflected by what seems as both. For me, female lead are just intuitively better at playing lead roles with large emotional impacts, just look at the latest horror/mystery It Comes at Night and please tell me which characters stand out to you, there are 3 main ones for me and 2 are female. Emotional response and understanding and in my only and unjustified opinion better seen through the eyes of a woman than the eyes of man.
hazel, your left thumb... is so bendy
has anyone else noticed it looks like dan and phil's old apartment lol
WTF I just watched Her 😱
Dem guns.
Edgar Seeing Things Thank you.
ah dear, sammy paul lookin' like he's gonna deck someone doing the fisty-thing......
How about the fact that the use of a third person to simulate human contact in a relationship, was "copied" in Blade Runner 2049!
Diogo Almeida i mean i havent seen the movie (or the older movie, or finished the original book im WORKING ON IT) but ive read a lot of philip k dicks stories, and do androids dream of electric sheep was written in 1968, so i dont think it could have copied the movie Her.. (but who knows it might be an aspect of blade runner 2049 solely and i might be talking out of my ass)
15 second in and all I could see was Sammy dry elbow on the bottom.
Always hated Her! From the very start this film is full of violations of the film genre(s) to which it pretends to belong. Who can believe in OS with self-consciousness as a consumer product available for most ordinary middle aged person with sexual frustration? Such a great technology will soon become a top-secret for any government, be destroyed as a potential threat for mankind by its inventors or shut down as a defected product with huge risk by any company. So the story is illogical from the beginning. If this film is not Sci-Fi, then maybe it's a love story? Is there any character who behaves really convincingly as a living human with flesh and blood, having enough biography, emotions and thought as a real member of modern or near-future society? I think, NO. So there's no basis for me to see this film as a love story with characters I can feel sympathy for. Then what is this? It's a boring 2 hours nonsense.
