I’m in grooming school right now in the US. The first year is very difficult when you start to actually groom, I feel like I’m awful at it, but I keep practicing and learning. What you are experiencing happens to every new groomer. Yes, if you like it don’t give up.

I wish I wasn’t afraid to use scissors on my Maltese’s face. She needs grooming so bad and I can’t get her to my groomer until 2 more solid weeks. I don’t think the matting around her face can wait that long & I don’t trust any other groomer but this one lady.

Why the need to hold so tight on the fur on the lower lip - looks like it must hurt the dog and it looks like the dog is bleeding in the left ear 😥
Bleeding? For sure, No.
you have to hold tight or the dog will move its head too much and you can cut them if they move their head too fast. It probably hurts them if they pull away but they learn pretty quickly not to pull away - some dogs its just immediate understanding not to move their head when grabbing the hair there
