    Big thanks to Jaren for lending me the MT-09 and for doing this video. Drop a comment and like below if Jaren should start his own channel! And comment below which bike YOU would pick!

    I (64 yrs old 175lbs) own a FTR-RR and my son-in-law (29 yrs old 190 lbs) owns a MT09. The FTR makes more power and a lot more torque than the MT09 but is also heavier. It is not as twitchy as the MT09. The FTR will certainly wheelie - If you turn the wheelie mitigation OFF on the Ride Command touch screen! I personally like the sound and feel of a V-Twin. My son-in-law likes the always on the edge MT09.

    In my experience, Performance wise they are pretty close on the street, though the mt is much lighter. Ide still pay the extra for an ftr for the style and feel alone

    I have a 2015 FZ09 (I bought it new) with a full exhaust and just love the sound....the power, etc. Great bike.

    FTR costs more, smaller fuel tank, etc... as cool as it looks I still prefer the mt09. The CP3 just brings your inner hooligan out the way it delivers power and stuff.

    Love yamaha motorcycles. Love the brand. Didn't stop me from picking up an FTR due to the uniqueness factor. Relatively few on the road.

    I've ridden small cruisers, big cruisers, a couple fast nakeds, and I'm now riding a MT 07. I have learned that the type of rider I am requires an inline 4. When I'm cruising around town I love that "gutless" putting around in lower RPMs. I have no need to be rowdy or have a lot of speed on tap or a lot of torque when I'm commuting back and forth to work. But, after work on the windy roads home or on the weekends.... I want to be able to open that bike up and have it turn into a completely different monster. I pretty much want Dr Jekyll in town and Mr Hyde on the back roads. So I find myself now looking at sport bikes and the Suzuki GSXS series to get that in line four. Don't get me wrong, the MT07 isn't decent bike. But, it rides the same whether I'm in town or on the back roads. It just gets louder on the back roads. It never really turns into another bike. In town it's the same rowdy bike begging to be played with. And, whether others agree with the opinion or not, it's not for the streets. It's made to be abused on empty back roads and an empty parking lot as people rip wheelies all day. The problem I have with it is that the bike acts like it's fast and sounds like it's fast.... But really doesn't have that speed rush. It is more than fast enough for any public road, but it seems more like it's a bike with all bark and no bite.
    I was originally looking at an MT09 until I rode one and found that it's just the rowdy older brother of the MT07. Lots of bar, and lots of rowdiness... But not a lot of Jekyll and Hyde. That bike is all Hyde.

      well put man. Ive had Gsxr's in the past, a 2020 Harley now and a Fz07 now as well. you're spot on about the fz07/mt07 just being what it is, ridability wise. my mildly built road king has more pull from bottom to top than the fz07. but for pure sport, I do miss the inline 4 screaming to redline...

    • @toofastnobrakes

      Yes, but weight on paper isn’t the whole story, the 22+ ftr on 17’s handles very well despite the higher weight

    I've owned both, and they're not similar at all. My experience is the FTR is...meh. For the price, I just expected more. The fueling they have on that bike is completely garbage. On almost any track, including a straight line, the mt-09 will eat an ftr. Cool factor and looks? FTR is a very good looking bike.

  • @tarnishedsquid2967

    FTR cool bike. But for the price nahh. More than an MT-10 which would wax the FTR.

  • @Flu_Tang_Clan
    @Flu_Tang_Clan Рік тому

    I would consider the MT09. My FTR is great, but the Yamaha would be more nimble on the twisties. Also, Indians 19/18 combo limits rubber choices.

    This is silly. Comparison of a 900cc bike, inline triple,with a 1300 v twin. One is a cool naked, the other more like a powercruiser flattracker. Also price is different. Useless .
