Seatalk 1 is a very different network and data sharing protocol than NMEA0183. Seatalk1 was Autohelm's proprietary network, and cannot be interfaced with NMEA0183 without an actual converter; connecting those leads together will fry an 0183 port, as Seatalk 1 uses a pair of 12V red/black leads for power and a single yellow lead for bi-directional data transfer. I recommend using DigitalYacht's ST-NMEA Converter, which will do so with optical isolation to prevent damage.
