    What for are those terminators? Can I switch on power to check if the sensor is working without terminators?

    Great explanation, thank you! A question: Could the wind sensor have been added without adding the last T connector, instead connecting it where the terminator was in the original setup? (Since the wind sensor already has a terminator).

      Hi Tony, you should use an T-Piece to connect the wind sensor to the NMEA2000 network. You can use a dummy cap where normally the resistor will take place to make the network waterproof.

    Quick question, why isnt the acronym NEMA if it stands for National Electronics Marine Association, but always referenced as NMEA

    • @SVBteam
      @SVBteam  5 років тому +2

      This is a really good question, Ben! You're the first one to notice our technicians little mix up. :-) NMEA stands for National Marine Electronics Association

    Wenn der Windsensor auch als Endstück dient könnte der auch am Backbone-"Arm" angeschlossen werden, oder kommen Sensoren immer an die wegstehende Part des T-Stücks? Also sind die seitlichen und der stehende Anschlüss am T-Stück funktionell unterschiedlich voneinander, oder dient die Konvention lediglich der Klarheit?

    • @SVBteam
      @SVBteam  4 роки тому +1

      Hallo,
      um das Netzwerk nach dem NMEA2000 Standard aufzubauen, sollten die Sensoren an den abgehenden Anschluss der T-Stücke angeschlossen werden. Diese Anschlüsse sind in der Regel weiblich, sodass die Geber bzw. die Sensoren über einen männlichen Anschlussstecker verfügen. Die Backboneseite des Netzwerkes verfügt über eine weibliche und eine männliche Seite. Die seitlichen und der weggehende Anschluss der T-Stücke verfügen über die gleiche Pinbelegung welche strom- & datenführende Leitungen beinhaltet.

    How do you know the wind sensor had a terminating resistor?

    • @SVBteam
      @SVBteam  4 роки тому +2

      Hi, it's usually commonplace for wind transmitters to have a resisitor preinstalled. Some manufacturers provide this information within their manuals.

      @@SVBteam What if i want to connect more devices (2 or 3), but all of them have preinstal lterminating resistor ?

    • @SVBteam
      @SVBteam  4 роки тому +2

      @@04piaci Hi Jozef, according to the NMEA2000 specifications more than two resistors can interrupt the data transfer, so this should be avoided. We know only about windvanes which have an intergrated resistor and your will rarely install more than two windvanes.

    Hi, does the chartplotter need to be on a separate power source?

    Thank you excellent demo. So the two terminators can be anywhere on the network it's not like the old ethernet daisy chains then? PS as you're German I completely excuse the europop music :)

    • @SVBteam
      @SVBteam  3 роки тому

      Hi thank you very much for your comment, it´s recommended to place one terminator at each end of the network. The wind sensor is a special case because it´s in general the part with the major distance to the network/backbone.
