@Dušan Janek He has the right to be proud, since this kind of heavy and melodic death metal music hasn't really been done before. Of course, you might like the raw swedish death metal and the instrumentalists here might not be as virtuosic as, say, Steve Vai, but one simply cannot deny the innovation and uniqueness of the heavy music that At The Gates, In Flames and Dark Tranquility wrote. By the way, I see you have replied on many comments below this video. It is highly advised for you to keep this kind of negative feedback to yourself, since the people that admire this music, simply can't keep the bullshit you spill in their heads.
@@Enkelriktad123 As a fellow metal lover and Estonian neighbour, I salute you and express my graditude towards the metal musicians in your homecity for still making the crushing and heavy music since the '90s.
It blew my mind back in 97 or so. I heard Under a Serpent Sun mixed with some song from Carcass' Swansong (I loved it too) and some Cathedral, all of them new to me, and liked them all, but when I listened the whole record and it began like this... 😲 Similar to first time I heard Jason Becker Mabel's fatal fable, or Steve Vai's Fire Garden Suite.
that is exactly what i mean. that chord progression (I - VI - V) is very common among metalcore bands as well. examples might be avenged sevenfold - unholy confessions, asking alexandria - the final episode, as i lay dying - through struggle (AILD kicks ass btw) and many others.
Wow this brings me back. Was fortunate enough to see them in Toronto at the Opera House on their final slaughter tour.Absolutely amazing. Oh shit look! There's the whole show to the right! --- >
I tried to play this. My guitar died from the awesomeness of the intro riff. I better get me one of those guitars.... they seem to handle the brutality.
@Lyle Gentleman I saw him in October. He does not have the power of the recording of this album or this live performance, however I think his voice has aged pretty well.
probably one of the 10-20 best songs in deathmetal history !
agreed, hell yeah \m/
Probably? More like definetly
Other?
@@a.od-reszki4674 Crystal Mountain, Ivth crusade, dreaming in red, Maze of torment, Annihilation of the wicked are some that come to my mind.
@Dušan Janek Scandinavians made Death Metal become more harder and melodic
This album was so far ahead of its time!!!!!
A 10/10 masterpiece
Slaughter of Soul is like the unreachable blueprint .. It is an icon. And it truly is..
I am so proud to be from Gothenburg. At the Gates, you fucking legends.
guitar tone is crushing!!
@Dušan Janek Bruh what? They tune to B standard. That's plenty low for melodic death metal, lots of bands tune to that.
@@themightymcb7310 that guy is a joke man. He's just replying hate comment
@Dušan Janek get over yourself.
So original sound, proud to be swedish \,,/
Helt Fläng you are honored to be born in the DEATH METAL NATION 🤟🏽
Painkiller488 X Even born and raised in Gothenburg. The true melodic death metal godfather city!
