i cant stop watching this video, ive watched it mabey 20 times in the lat 3 years, its 2013. The tricks have gotten bigger, better, but nobody can copy Simons style.
Im a skater and a snowboarder but damn i love the skiers part his style is so sick he just looks so comfortable on his skis you can really tell hes been doin it a long time i cant stop watching his part, makes me wanna start skiing lol. Keep killin it bro
Now your someone like me who likes both sports I freeski and I like snowboarding I don't hate snowboarding cause it's different I think it's cool cause it's different
As both a skier and a boarder, I must say that I have a bias for skiing...not because I have an opinion simply based off of which one I do, like most people (cough*Idiots*cough). BUT instead because you can do more physically with skiing. . It takes longer to learn for a reason...there is more to learn. boarding...Well you really just learn it...and you are done. You can only improve to carve deeper, and balance lower. It is still super fun though. . With skiing You can do more diverse stuff as well, boarding is pretty much the same every time. With skiing, you can learn to wedge, paralell, carve, Etc. You can go down more paths with skiing, for example, racing. Unless you are super good, you can't do much beyond board for pleasure. . You can learn/do a larger number of tricks. Boarding, the tricks are mostly the same, but in skiing, you can do a lot of very different things...You aren't strapped in, and two skis are less restrictive, and thus offer larger diversity of movement. I love both, but I enjoy skiing more as it simply offers more.
When I watch skiers riding in the terrain park, it reminds me of asians. It all looks the same. Snowboarding is 10x's better. If you aren't good at snowboarding and trick riding, then yes, everything is going to look the same.
I'm actually a snowboarder, and i don't really like Ski, but i don't hate on skiers. I just think that we should do what we love to do and don't matter what other people like to do.
Does somebody else also remember a video called "Ski vs Snowboard" which had the song Poppiholla - Chicane as background music? I used to love the video but I can't find it anymore...
I have to say, I have been skiing and snowboarding for 30 years and always enjoyed snowboarding much more. However, the arrival of twin tips pushed me back towards skiing and now, for me, that is the most enjoyable.
Felix Antonsson Yes, and I just got run over by an idiot skier trying to show off. There will ALWAYS be bad on both sides, you just find a larger amount on the boarding side because that is "cooler".
I do both, they both have their pros and cons, i find skiing is less tiring and is more versatile but snowboarding is more rewarding when you master it.
Show me a champ snowboarder who has never been skiing and a champ skier who has never set foot on a board, then make them switch to see which skill would be learned easier and mastered quicker my bet is the skier. Due to the fact that you can carry on as snowboarder if you bail but carry on after you bail on skis and have to retrieve your skis from up piste see how many trick-tastic stunts would be pulled then. Awesome tricks come from perseverance and difficulty of landing rather than Hap Hazard trickery from a boarder regardless of how they land. The skier deserves the respect in regard of freestyle due to the risks undertaken. MAKING IT HARDER!!!!
Fair enough and im a snowboarder. But you cant just have people switch shit one could just be a better natural athlete and get real good faster than the other. Theres no way to see what is harder.
I ski,and I found snowboarding harder. I think it would be the same if I started snowboarding. I think skiing is more natural, because the feet can still move separately. JMO
i snowboard, and i tried skiing and on the first day i tried it i learned 180's 360's boxes(not only going straight but sideways also) and that was about 3 hours, i still dont know which one i like more, but i definately progressed faster in skiing
i started skiing at 6 (im 16) and snowboarding at 10 and i love both!! i think you gotta be able to experience and maybe learn on skis and on a board before you can actually pick sides.
@tadflip well you can slowly move yourself forward snowboarding by shifting your weight, but when you get to the bottom of the slope you need to unlatch one of your bindings to push yourself to the ski lift. and you need to have one foot free on the lift too
I ski and board, and either way just cruising down a mountain and floating through the air is one of the best feelings ever. I hate competition and look at how many great riders we've lost due to arrogance and ego. Push yourself and the lifestyle because you love it, but do not do it for recognition. These are not sports they are ways of life.
I love and do both sports but if you think about, skiing has many more tricks available, all the same as snowboarders with feet kept together, pluss different varients with skis crossed etc.
If you are doing it for more than one day pick snowboarding. The reason is that there is a much steeper learning curve to snowboarding than there is to skiing. If your only going for one day take skiing, because it is easy to have fun for a day doing that. Your first day snowboarding wont be as fun, because you will probably spend it on the ground, but after you can actually turn it will feel much better than skiing and more smooth.
I think he means that skiers can do more of a variety of grabs. Like japans and grabbin different skis and being able to cross their skis makes it look pretty sick as well. A board is just a board, u can only grab it so many ways
I'm a skiier and snowboarder I personally like skiing cuz its faster more tricks and better air and grinds ,snowboard confortable boots a little more control of turning grinds air . I like both
The reason I prefer skiing is Freeskiing in deep powder in the backcountry looks so much more badass on skis. And skiing also looks good in park. But respect to Snowboarders.
Yes I agree with you now, i was wrong. but beginners will definitely get the hang of basic skiing before snowboarders get the basics. Once you have the basics as a snowboarder, you start learning intermediate stuff at a very fast pace, unlike the skiers who's learning pace starts high and only decreases as time goes on.
depends on the type of jump. i started hitting small natural jumps as soon as i learned how to turn. but i didn't hit a kicker for a couple years because the resort i went to did not have them.
when i saw that on the first time, it was in 3th on the list to watch the video, now is on first ! :D i love u guys, i'm braziliam, moving to canada next yeah, i want to know u if i can:P
im a snowboarder and i like both the same way... i think the park is funner to watch with skiing and backcountry is funner to watch with snowboarding. from New Hampshire P.S there is noooo snow here this year and i wanna ride!!
I do both, but i live in michigan, we have dope terrain parks but the spot i ride at has like a 350 ft vertical so its just terrain park, so i like boarding best, but mainly because of where i live.
Honestly, this want the best example of skiing or snowboarding, but they were very similar. The thing is, skiing and snowboarding are good for different things. It doesn't mean that one is better, they are just different.
I just have one point two make in this argument and it's a big one. You can "ski" steeper slopes with a snowboard than you can with ski's. iow, the vertical limit for a snowboarder is steeper than a skiers.
Okay now, you can't argue that a sport is better based on how nice it's riders are. Personally, I snowboard, and BECAUSE I DO IT, I am prone to think it's cooler. However, I would like to learn to ski, as I believe it's a good skill to have the best of both worlds.
I have never skied and probably wouldn't try it unless I had the opportunity to for free. I started with boarding and stuck with it. I do it because I do what I know. I cannot talk from experience but a friend of mine couldnt hack boarding, so he moved to skiing. Perhaps people pick up one or the other easier, but I have heard overall, to start to ski is easier than boarding.
yeah i have a friend who does both and says snowboarding is way harder to learn.. he says skiing is more fun to just bomb a hill, but snowboarding is more fun to do tricks with
Agreed 100% my friend was boarding and an old skier went up next to him when he was going down the run and the old guy just pushed him down just cause he was snowboarding.
The first part made me want to ski, the second part made me want to snowboard. But the whole thing made me want to go put on all my stuff to see if it's not to big.
I feel like skiers try way too hard for style like at the beginning. Not all skiers, but most. That why I like jossi wells, his style is simple. Not the best comparison though, if I had no biased opinion, for This vid alone, I'd say skiing is better because in relation, the skier was better than the boarder.
i cant stop watching this video, ive watched it mabey 20 times in the lat 3 years, its 2013. The tricks have gotten bigger, better, but nobody can copy Simons style.
its a tradition to once this once or twice a year.
I watched this back 12 years ago when it first came out and I come back to it every couple years or so just because it’s so iconic
I've watched this about 500 times just because the music is hella' good and the vid is just awesome. Winter lover 4 lyfe!

Nah bro nah
***** i think he has fucking good argument men
When I watch skiers riding in the terrain park, it reminds me of asians. It all looks the same. Snowboarding is 10x's better.
If you aren't good at snowboarding and trick riding, then yes, everything is going to look the same.
Ahaha a person in snowbordind is considered good when hé do a front board clear a rail is not sick
AnEpilepticsVlog FUCKING ASASINS XD
Come back every year to watch this beautiful vid 🤣💪🏽
The skiing edit is so sick I watch it before I go skiing
This video got me into snowboarding I love this classic UA-cam dime been watching it since it was uploaded 11 years ago certified hood classic haha
I'm actually a snowboarder, and i don't really like Ski, but i don't hate on skiers. I just think that we should do what we love to do and don't matter what other people like to do.
As a skier I agree.
Skiing song is "Ground up Sounds" by: Late Night Special & Snowboarding song is "Yeah" by: Andre Nikatina

I remember watching this 6 years ago now 🔥 never gets old
whether ur a skier or snowboarder props to u because there is almost nothing better than spending a day in the mountains with friends u dont even know
I can definitely tell this is 2010 because of the baggy gear.lol
+Tack Hammer (Tackhammer) Unfortunately haha
It still looks sick at the snow
Omg When i was 10 i started to see this video 1000 times since 2011
Upon seeing his surprised face when presented with his new top for Xmas, his father said "don't worry son, you'll grow into it".
Always feel ski is too dangerous, imagine if someone fall and land on his stick poking up, he gonna get stabbed and die, or maybe I'm just paranoid
the poles snap VERY easily.
I don't care what you do, as long as you shred mountains and are chill. Respect for both.
skiing is the shit
Snowbaording is generally more kick ass, but freestyle skiing is just the apex of cool. So much more impressive freestyle snowboarding in my opinion.
HOOOORGMOOOOOOO!
time flies, season changes season, this video an track is still sick AF
SNOWBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
both are awesome. the fact that people are out snowboarding or skiing is better then sitting inside
Why do some of these guys wear clothes that are several sizes too large? Not trying to talk shit. Honest question.
It's gangster lol
it ain't easy being steezy
Question everything.
I have to say, I have been skiing and snowboarding for 30 years and always enjoyed snowboarding much more. However, the arrival of twin tips pushed me back towards skiing and now, for me, that is the most enjoyable.
Snowboarding is way better
You are my best friend
ExtU Twinzi
Lol.
Felix Antonsson
Yes, and I just got run over by an idiot skier trying to show off. There will ALWAYS be bad on both sides, you just find a larger amount on the boarding side because that is "cooler".
You r the best
in your opinion bud
These guys make skiing look easy. These guys make snowboarding look FUN. That is the difference between skis and snowboarding.
boarding has way more style I think
11 years later and this is on my for you page
Snowboard IS WAY BETTER
I do both, they both have their pros and cons, i find skiing is less tiring and is more versatile but snowboarding is more rewarding when you master it.
was it hard to tell your parents you were gay?

Fair enough and im a snowboarder. But you cant just have people switch shit one could just be a better natural athlete and get real good faster than the other. Theres no way to see what is harder.
im kidding it doesn't matter. I only say it's easier because I see skiers clogging the park because they can walk onto the boxes and jumps.
Skiing wins no question. None. Period.
I just questioned it.
i started skiing at 6 (im 16) and snowboarding at 10 and i love both!! i think you gotta be able to experience and maybe learn on skis and on a board before you can actually pick sides.
ski 1 snow 0
@tadflip well you can slowly move yourself forward snowboarding by shifting your weight, but when you get to the bottom of the slope you need to unlatch one of your bindings to push yourself to the ski lift. and you need to have one foot free on the lift too

Covid brings me back here :(
honestly skiing has so much style built into it, snowboarding just doesn't have the same style factor
first song is late night specail-ground up sound
must have watched this at least 10 times in the past two seasons
I love and do both sports but if you think about, skiing has many more tricks available, all the same as snowboarders with feet kept together, pluss different varients with skis crossed etc.
Tignes, Val thorens, Val D'isere most places in the french alps are starting to open
Really digs this dudes style, so easy lookin - allmost no effort... his rails are so insane
I watch this vid like every year idk why

Agreed. Its very easy and quick to learn to jump on big jumps on ski, but the opposite with snowboard
I think he means that skiers can do more of a variety of grabs. Like japans and grabbin different skis and being able to cross their skis makes it look pretty sick as well. A board is just a board, u can only grab it so many ways
Holy shit style has changed so much in just 3 years

when i saw that on the first time, it was in 3th on the list to watch the video, now is on first ! :D i love u guys, i'm braziliam, moving to canada next yeah, i want to know u if i can:P
on skis you get in more rotations especially on rails, u can go switch, which actually looks different than not going switch (...)
this is the best video I've ever seen!!!
ground up - late night special. i freaked out when it came on haha i love ground up
Dis a classic 😂🔥 5 years later
Simon Dumont at Keystone!! Area 51 has one of the best terrain parks i've been at
i completely forgot skiing was even a part of this half way throu.. goon killed it.. dont bullshit cuz your jus a skiier.. still skiin can be dope
late night special, by ground up. listen to all of there songs. most of them are sweet.
It doesn't matter what's more difficult, it doesn't matter wich of both sports/lifestyles, what matters is your style...
Both are awesome; it's all about the skier/rider.
I do both and I just like skiing a bit more because you can control your speed.
im a snowboarder and i like both the same way... i think the park is funner to watch with skiing and backcountry is funner to watch with snowboarding.
from New Hampshire
P.S there is noooo snow here this year and i wanna ride!!

@Etrajbe glad you agree

as long as your having fun, got style and flow it doesn't matter
common we can all get get along with a little andre nickatina
the skiers had mad swag in this video. what brand of coats and pants were they wearing?
I was just wondering which one is easier to use
snowboarding is harder to learn than skiing, but easier to master.
Richard Fincher Having taught both, I agree completely and was about to write the same thing
Everybody has his own favorite but i dont think boarders and skiers hate eachother. Maybe some people who lack skill say its a boarder-skiing thing
I snowboard for 20 years; back to skiing, because staying on edges is too much work as I get older.
yeah i have a friend who does both and says snowboarding is way harder to learn.. he says skiing is more fun to just bomb a hill, but snowboarding is more fun to do tricks with
Agreed 100% my friend was boarding and an old skier went up next to him when he was going down the run and the old guy just pushed him down just cause he was snowboarding.
i already managed to find it, but thank you!!! :) love this song!

They always try too hard lol. Big shots
tough5hit snowboarders just be jealous xD
lmao too funny
same skied for 3 years riding for 3 as well
skiers that go to the park are usually chill but the riding only skiers are usually the ones who yell at us boarders
Dumont broke the steeze barrier!!!!!
@jroohdneny the skiing music is "Late night special - Ground up sounds"
Snowboarding and skiing are awesome!
You can't compare both 1st because it's streets vs park riding and the technical difficulty of the tricks are so different between the to sports!
