If you thought Metallica was weak you better view this video cause Metallica been kicking ass way before your time.....To all the metal heads and Metallica fans this is the Metallica I'll never forget
Don't you just love the way James holds the guitar, hunched over like a beast screaming into the mic like he has had a handful of gravel chucked down his throat. Pure testosterone.
Holy fuck, this is perfect, every single one of them was on fire. Lars was such a beast back then. I'm glad I was able to find a video of them performing this with Cliff, thanks for uploading!
russkate88 he wasn't bad, but listen to the original recording then go back and watch this. If you compare the 2 this one is not very good. He kept going off time in some parts and still does it even to this day when playing this song
Just something I've always noticed about Cliff; every live video he's in with that Aria bass the light reflecting off of it looks like lightning. Pure power
It's similar tempo to Battery and Disposable Heroes both which he played a lot more double kick on, often same tempo as the record or quicker. He was knocking at the door of Lombardo and Benante back then. Never as good but so close!
@@christschinwon I think Lars was as fast as anyone of the era - just chose not to do it all the time as he stated. Which is great for Metallica as James used his voice like a percussion instrament. You get someone that fills everything with double bass and blast beat's and that 5th instrument of Metallica goes away. Just listen to Disposable Heroe's without any music to it and how he slots all the lyrics in to match the music. In hindsight a lot of genius moments with Metallica.
The only talented ones in slayer were Jeff and Dave I mean their music is good but better than Metallica. Metallica has more technical stuff and they are just better slayer is good too though.
@El señor de la tienda slayer maybe but Metallica is fucking ass, megadeth was playing heavier intricate shit, they couldn’t even play this song correct in the 90’s what a joke
all the metallica haters, watch this and eat your fucking heart out. this is metallica the best thrash metal band in their prime. fuck off and die haters
Never thought I would see this song payed live in the eighties but you found it and pushed it! What a amazing performance and they all killed it lars slamming them drums kirk destroying solos and James with some gnarly vocals I wish I could of seen them in the eighties
Holy balls of fuck man, what a performance. Sheer energy spewing out from all 4 of them. The song itself was tight while they all bounced around the stage like amazing loonies - \m/ METALLICA \m/
This is gold. The best they ever were. I would trade in every concert experience to go back and see/hear this one first hand. Melt my fuggn face off for life.
I think people is not euphoric there because everybody is impacted with too much power for those days, also they normally had presentations with very different kind of audiences … always trying to get more people … that’s why they are so huge
I miss the days when they were hungry for the fans and for Metal.......in the beginning they were so raw and perfect for Thrash..............days long gone, just like Cliff...RIP my Metal friend........\\m// \\m//
Kirk still got it. I watch him play trapped under ice at original tempo. You need the drummer can keep in time. No hate on lars, but drummer is metronome for the band
Lars is absolutely fucking killing it. I've never seen him act that energetic and bouncy and fucking CRAZY. It seemed like he was also the only one keeping time. The guitars fuck up worse than he does here. Strange
Nicholas Cone 89 was good, but they were already on the fade then imo. U should see some of the bootlegs from 84 to 87, u can still feel the energy n tightness through the 240p camera recording with shit audio.
Holy shit -- this song killed on the album, hearing it live. It is even fucking crazier. All these mainstream metallica fans, where they get scared when they hear Battery -- they were missing out the good stuff. The $5.98 EP Garage Days Re-Revisited was the first thing I had of theirs and that was when I was in 7th grade -- I didn't end up having a lot of their stuff until my high school years. I got And Justice and The Black Album for Christmas, wishing I got Master Of Puppets then.
Only one close shot of Cliff... Wish I could see how he performed this song
You performed It Good anyway
Thanks. But I'd like to see his positions and specific licks
i feel ya, the guy filming had no idea that he wouldn't be around for much longer :(

The best Metallica song ever. I love pissed off James.

russkate88 he wasn't bad, but listen to the original recording then go back and watch this. If you compare the 2 this one is not very good. He kept going off time in some parts and still does it even to this day when playing this song
Maybe here and there, but overall it was good, and it is a hard song to pull off live.
Also. Part of that is due to the fact that they were constantly under the influence of alcohol.
James had been going to gym..
