What I love about this show is that for a first time, it ACTUALLY shows what a Demon King should be, like, how many times we have saw a "demon king" dying to a weak hero.
Theres not many “Demon kings” its usually “Demon lords”

Anos showed how a Demon King should act, mighty but still humble to his subject.
If they question his authority, he listens to them, and if they spewed bullshit or try to take quick at him, he punish them.

One of the biggest mistakes for the first episode is that people assume he's going to be viewed as overpowered. The term misfit is the same as calling someone a delinquent in school. In other words you could say he failed both entrance exams.
He only failed that test exam

He's a misfit because he's not from the nobility. He was wearing the white uniform even before the exams.

I love this anime so much. I've seen people describe it as "so bad it's good" but it's actually legitimately good. Anos is one of my favorite anime MCs ever. He's like escanor except better imo

Anyone who thinks this show is "so bad, it's good" and means it has poor tastes. I know Gigguk said that jokingly in his review, but clearly he liked the show and thought it was good.
This show isn't "so bad it's good", this show is straight up taking all the shit people love of shitty isekai but instead of trying to be serious it embraces the bullshit and tries to be fun rather than deep.
@@puffy1700 tbf a lot of Isekai don't actually try to be Mushoku tensei levels of serious. In fact I would say that goes for both LNs and the animes.

Anos is one of very very few OP protags done right. He has the right amount of humility, arrogance, charisma, and quirks that make him enjoyable to watch. He looks like a typical self insert character but he actually has his own personality which plays a big part in that.

For some reason I thought you guys had already watched this lol. It's a cult classic. One of my favorites that I re-watch all the time, especially when drunk because of the feel good vibes watching Anos kick some serious ass.
PS. The "three second rule" was a joke. The zombie spell was completely different.
Also....with consideration of all of the Demon Lord MCs we have to this day, Greatest Demon Lord Reborn, Demon King Daimao, How Not To Summon A Demon Lord, Demon Lord, Retry!, etc., Anos is like THE peak of suave and powerful, while being a demon through and through.

If you notice - the joke Anos makes at the end is the line used by Veldora when he got freed by Rimuru in Slime s2.
"All who defy me will be slaughtered" in slime & its translated as "I'll massacre all who defy me!"
Meaning Veldora read Misfit of a Demon King LN from Rimuru's memories.

Anos is literally so chad that every other reincarnated demon-lord show since has just felt like a wasted effort.
I remember looking at a scene from that show where the guy wanted to be average in his next life and instantly turning it off due to how lame he was in comparison to Anos. Like this dude took a full power punch just to create a dent in a wall with a person, whereas Anos casually does it just by throwing a sword in the person's general direction.
I hate it when "OP" shows don't make the character OP in any real way.
He is the definition of OP protagonist done right.

When the MC takes "beating someone to death" to a whole new level. Most shows that tried "I can kill you with my heartbeat" would be trash, but Misfit is just fun to watch.

In the sphere of "op mc anime" Misfit is actually good imo. People act like it is absolute dogshit and I'm like ... how many anime have you REALLY seen because in that particular archetype - for what it is - Misfit of Demon King Academy is actually really enjoyable. A lot of people don't really enjoy the "I'm so powerful I could literally kill the manga creator rn" anime tropes for good reasons, I tolerate some but so far as I've been getting into the anime, I'm not very convinced.

You can cover a lot of problems with just solid characters that are fun to watch, I think that's where shows like SAO fell flat for me
