      I find it interesting that right after the desert discussion, Dennis quickly changed the subject to women and sex. LOL! And then toward the end when the talk sways to the topic of meaning and sex, you kid him a little by saying you're giving him a hard time. I'm not sure whether or not that pun was intended... 😂

    i am 19. I grew up in a Nigerian Christian family. Found Jordan Peterson at 17 and Thomas Sowell (an other like minded economist) at 19. I had been introduced to other intellectuals before that were left leaning or liberal but Prager is correct. When you hear something that just makes sense, it stays with you and changes your values

      I was the same way, minus the Nigerian part but I was liberal when I was young. My Mom drilled that garbage in my head from pretty much day 1. But at about 22 I had a good friend DESTROY all my backward Liberal beliefs in a conversation that opened my eyes and really changed my life. Sometimes I wish I never knew the truth and was still blind because the left is so Frustrating DUMB and DESTRUCTIVE. But then I'd be part of the ignorant problem in America that alows the Left to do what they do.

      That is exactly why the left fears conservative speakers in colleges and protest them. They know logical thinking instead of emotionally thinking will eventually click with a lot of their students. They have to keep it away from them and control the flow of information.

    Four years after this conversation. I was interested in Pat's observation of 'artsy' people being more emotional and liberal leaning. I would have classified myself this way, especially an art studio major. But after having kids, I was assulted with the harsh reality that the state wants to claim ownership over the next generation. This passion for protecting my family he as absolutely propelled me into the 'right' camp.

    • @jameseverett9037
      @jameseverett9037 Рік тому +2

      Everything I do is in the arts , but I've never leaned to the Left. And I have noticed that most of my artist friends are either strong Left or Strong Right, though far fewer on the Right. However there is something else I have observed about those that lean Left, because I've always wanted to understand what makes a person lean to 1 side or the other, which is what Pat was trying to get at in the video. But I think Patrick was unprepared to hear the answer, and Dennis knew better than to go there [ if he understands what it is].
      There is a short-sightedness, and stubbornness, much like a child having a tantrum, where they insist, and want something all the more, as you try to explain why it's not a good idea. They become offended, and resort to accusing you of only wanting to deprive them of something, rather than trying to understand that it's in their best interest. Thus they equate disagreement with 'hate'. There's a refusal to consider any possibility that there's a good motive behind the disagreement. I doubt that anyone on youtube will ever really get into the bottom line differences, because it's too polarizing and hard to convince anyone on the Left of the basic psychological deception involved.

      Chase Wood For example, most conservatives believe it is not okay to burn the flag even though flag burning is protected under the constitution. They choose to get upset with this and argue with emotion. The same way that most conservatives will argue with emotion regarding NFL players kneeling during the national anthem

    • @Marian.Guy1
      @Marian.Guy1 4 роки тому +3

      @@dudebob9779 that makes sense however, many conservatives will admit it's completely fine under the law, but it's the symbolism behind it, (for me I do not like the burning of the flag because my great grandfather died in war and our family was given the flag to honor him , while his war mates handed my grandmother the flag they played the national anthem to pay respects and honor his service to our Nation , thats why I see it as disrespectful)doing a controversial act and it being protected by the constitution doesn't mean you are protected by the backlash. It's completely fine under the constitution to say the N word or to burn the LGBT flag BUT no one is exempt from the backlash especially when people literally die for the flag(not like yk "they fought for the country so they fought for the flag" but many people have died while undergun fire and refused to drop or leave the flag). So that argument specifically is an emotional one for Patriots not specifically conservatives.

      @dudebob9779 4 роки тому

      Chase Wood I see your point and I’m sorry about your grandfather. My father also fought in the Iraq war and suffers tremendously from it. An example I thought of conservatives using emotion is with the BLM protests. In my experience a lot of conservatives deny and form of systemic racism, which is backed by a tremendous amount of evidence, I see conservatives rant about BLM using emotional arguments to oppose BLM.

      @Max Kronader; It may seem like Wisdom to You, but clearly not to Dennis. Being within the sources, transmission and lineage of the basis Dennis is describing, am able to clarify this point accurately. Dennis is explaining the premise, basis, base, mindset, view, perspective, and perception of the idea, concept, principle, knowledge as correct, true and proper because they are so from internally, recognizable from within in, internally, through proper thinking and reason. What also is true, which he does not state explicitly, but inferred or at least implied, is the source, being The Creator, which he knows from The Five Books of The Toroh, he also knows that his essence contains these ideas, concepts, principles, and within his own existence too. Similarly, there are many basics within each human, internal to their creation, if and when able to connect with it.

    I gotta give my own pushback here. I am 53 years old. I had a very religious father who was physically abusive to the point where my mother divorced him because she was afraid he would kill me. In my twenties and thirties, I discovered I was far, far, FAR from being any kind of exception. I remember the Evangelical preachers of the 80's using the Gospel to preach judgment, damnation and spiritually terrorizing people. Contrary to the claim that divorce went up after "no fault" divorce, no, actually, divorce starting going up after Behaviorism discovered that child abuse was a serious problem and a whole lot of religious figures, particularly preachers and deacons, were savagely abusive to their children, -and so child abuse became a legitimate reason for a divorce.
    And one must also remember that Christians don't just believe in God. They believe in ridiculous things like the first man being molded from dirt and the first woman being molded from the first man's rib. These are the people who objected to the theory of evolution. These people preached abstinence only when it was obvious to everyone else that it DOES NOT WORK on those hotheaded, rebellious teenagers!! These people continue to preach that homosexuality is a learned behavior, despite the fact that mountains of evidence are against it. These are the people who actually push discerning minds away from not only Christianity, but any kind of sprirituality.
    It also doesn't help that Prager is reinforcing the stereotype of the big, fat, white guy wearing an expensive suit and smoking a huge cigar and babbling in his luxurious sitting room, showing zero empathy and tons of judgment. He goes on about the Left having no wisdom. He gives examples of wisdom but they are all abstract. Bragging about your wisdom just makes you look like a buffoon. The problem with wisdom is that it isn't measurable and so many big mouthed jerks like Prager can make up BS and pass it off as wisdom. The wisest people I've known don't sit there and foghorn their opinions everywhere like Prager does. They tend to be very quiet people, who, on a specific occasion, will make one simple statement that fills the room and brings everyone in it together. That's not Prager. Also, Prager admitting he has "strong views"... yeah, that could also be called "closed minded". And Prager definitely IS closed minded.
    I'm all upset now. I'm gonna listen to some Alan Watts.

    • @kathleennorton6108
      @kathleennorton6108 4 роки тому +2

      Reason is to rule, but true, pure emotion, joy, pleasure, anger etc. should follow.
      The problem these days is that people are being programmed to follow their emotions, not reason.
      The programming is rampant in the entertainment industry. Now schools, news etc. have all jumped onto the emotionally driven train, which is bound to reck.
      The unscrupulous have found that emotionally driven people are extremely pliable in their hands.

    • @newtonfirefly3584
      @newtonfirefly3584 4 роки тому

      @@kathleennorton6108 You have some very good examples of how entertainment, advertisers, politicians and other gain their followers.
      Actually am very connected with the source of what Dennis states, though the exact translation chosen needs further explanation.
      You can ask, what is "the brain", and what is "the mind"? Are they not both the same, or in the same location? How are they different.
      You chose to use some of what Dennis explained with examples, as emotion. Where are the emotions? The Psychologists say emotions are part of the psyche. So are other thoughts. Thus, emotions are a type of thought. We have many types of thoughts, thought processes, aspects and attributes of thought. What You seem to describe is using reason over emotion, simply.
      As a female, woman, would expect You know an essential difference between males and females, men and women in their thoughts, thought process, especially as it relates with reason and emotion. Simply speaking both have elements of each. The female, woman psyche on balance, uses more emotion in the evaluation and decision process, and the male, man uses more reason. Another aspect, in the balance, is which has more precedence, emotion or reason. Thus with both present, for the female, woman, her emotion has the slight edge in the evaluation and toward the decision, while for the male, man, his reason has the slight edge. Men will tend to use reason to justify their emotions, while a woman will use her emotions to justify her reason.
      Does this seem correct, relatable and reasonable to You? [these explanations were explained to me, and realized them more over time, especially within my marriage and children]. Also learned from two experts in neurology [both women], there is actually a difference between male and female brain connections from the right to left side. A male has a longer path through neurons which the female does not. Thus explaining the difficulty a woman has in explaining her reasoning of the decision compared with a man [hopefully explained this properly]. Thus the people who claim males and females are the same are incorrect biologically from the brain, and the concept of a male born into a female body or vice versa, is false with another biological basis beside the other obvious physical manifestations and hormones.
      [The issues and false premises, basis, explanations of all LGBTQ+ behavior and thinking are easily explained, and why they are explicitly forbidden for all humans]
      Your ideas of Reason to rule and emotions should follow, seems good, but please tell me how that can possibly work for You as female, woman?
      There is clearly a need for each. We need proper balance of all types of thought.
      Also agree advertising, entertainment, etc. are very focused upon emotions and they use other related aspects of desires, pleasures, which also have emotional connections for many. Their approach and focus it clearly to achieve the desired surface affect and with that their desired more internal and deeper affect.
      What Dennis is actually explaining is the balance of the thought types and thought process in each situation, including some of the simple situations and examples he presented. Thre are many levels and steps can be developed and learned just from the cheese cake example.
      Hope this fits with some of Your thoughts and brings additional clarity.
      Sincerely

      People are more than the way their brains are set up to possibly dominate.
      Exceedingly many men and women are being programmed to follow what they feel, independent of reason, and are doing so.
      I am a woman and I have learned to be analyticak, to stop and really take the time to think things through. It can be done.
      If one reads The Bible on a constant, regular basis, it will do it's work, whether one is a man or a woman.
      We all have the mind of Christ. It is a matter of learning to think from His mind.
      The male and, or female mind is completely insufficient, apart from His mind. For Jesus is reality.
      Apart from Him we may all have our own thoughts and bents, but reality is exceedingly complex, unknowable and very confusing. He gives us tools within ourselves to navigate it, somewhat, but without His mind, activated by His Spirit, who can know it?
      People have two sides to their brains. One side is very logical, and reasoned based. The other side is more emotional, artistic, and even somewhat intuitive.
      Females have both sides of their brains connected, down the middle of the brain. We can, therefore, put many things together at one time.
      Men's brains are much more divided down the middle, so they tend to operate more heavily out of the logical side of their brain. At a given moment of thought they operate dominantly out of just one side of their brains.
      There are advantages to both ways of thinking. That is why men and women balance each other.
      It should not be thought that a Bible reading, prayerful women is largely open to deception, just because she is a women.
      Being a Christian, taught correct doctrine, and constantly in prayer, as all should be, completely overcomes any dominating emotional factor in the brain. Though God also reveals Himself through our emotions, in line and under His Word. A well balanced woman doesn't lean to emotions, just because she also processes them, as well as logic.
      God has ordained the man to be the head of the family. In situations where many things must be taken in to consideration, apparently pure logic may have an advantage, especially in things that must be decided very quickly.
      The husband, though, if time allows, is wise to listen to his wife, and take into consideration her more varied viewpoints.
      The major problem with following the woman is that life requires risks to be led successfully.
      A woman is less inclined to take risks, as she is more emotionally attached to the children. She also may have a greater fear factor, as she is more physically in tune to the emotionally wired side of her brain.
      On the other hand, she should be very thoughtful to think things out logically, for the protection of the children she loves so deeply with her emotions.
      I am speaking in generalities. I know strong woman that are very unshakable. It seems a strength can come through a woman who had made her mind up for the truth, that can rival a man's.
      The deep deciding factor is, does she know God? Is she in touch with God and His Word, in such a way that He is her truth, strength, and her character?
      God transcends every other factor in human life.
      A careful study of The Old Testament will reveal amazingly strong women, who saved many with their wisdom and strength of mind.
      Women, especially lost women, may have a bend to be ruled by emotions, especially when programmed to be so, but it is not a necessary condition of all woman.
      A true Christian woman of faith, who reads her Bible often, and is in constant touch with God through prayer, is a mighty force to be reckoned with.
      P.S. Also, fasting with prayer allows for the connection with the mind of Christ, which surpasses ourselves.

    • @LtDeadeye

      That's a possibility but it could also be that it has nothing at all to do with their parents. For example, my parents taught me as a kid that eating my vegetables was good for me. Whether or not my belief about eating vegetables was instilled by my parents could be a factor in how the belief came to be known but, as you know, that has no bearing on whether or not the belief is false. I would defend my belief that eating vegetables is healthy but that has nothing to do with my parents. I understand that you are exploring a much deeper and nuanced phenomena though. Do you really think that corporations should be able to pay a less than living wage and then double dip into the welfare system? You want to minimize the welfare system? Pay people a living wage. Example: Avocado is a fruit, clearly. Tomato and avocado go together well. Would You put avocado together with peaches, nectarines, pears, apples citrus??
      Which other fruits would You put together with tomato? Some would put pineapple together with tomato and some will not. Also some have differences in tastes and combinations.
      Sincerely
      Perhaps We can conjure and conceive of better examples to show knowledge compared with wisdom
      Dennis used a different word that knowledge, but could include it, as the Patrick used "Smart", which is often similar to intelligent [actually a potential[, not of just knowledge rather of thinking abilities. There is more details to describe and define the differences Dennis is explaining. He knows also there are several types and aspects of thought and thought processes. He is attempting to simplify them into one as used; "Smart". Wisdom is one of the types of thoughts which also has aspects of combination of others and also coming from The Creator, specifically in certain ways and paths. Actually, all forms, types of thoughts, thinking, thinking processes come from the creator including the thoughts themselves. However, this is probably difficult for most to accept, just yet.

      I am so encouraged by reactions like yours! Back in the '60s when I was an undergrad, I was a "closet conservative" because faculty and most of my fellow students were hard core leftists. I was very sympathetic to the Civil rights movement and appalled by what was going on in the South at the hands of white ruling class Democrats. Following the Voting Rights Act of 1964, resisted and filibustered against by Southern AND Northern Democrat Senators, I was shocked by how Johnson's paternalistic Great Society poverty programs began to destroy the integrity of black families. I'm thrilled at the growing political emergence of prominent conservative African-Americans like Starr Parker, Winsome Sears, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Leo Tyrrell, Candace Owens, Jason Riley, Shelby Steele, Burgess Owens, Tim Scott, Larry Elder, Deroy Murdoch, Kevin Cork, Lawrence Taylor, Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas, Glen Loury, Hershel Walker, the late greats, Herman Cain and Walter Williams, Dineen Borrelli, and you add more, the bench is deep and getting deeper. I think Frederick Douglass, George Washington Carver, Dr. King, and maybe even Malcolm X would be pleased.
