There is someone inspiring these writings that is not trapped in linear time. He is YHWH. I've run into a few guys like Billy over the years spouting similar tales about the Dogon tribe, etc...partly from Black Studies egyptology (Basil Davidson, Asa Hilliard, Ankha Diop), partly from the Mentellect movement, partly mind/science psychology, and with a little Voltaire/Dan Brown theories about the Vatican mixed in. What guys like Billy Carson are counting on is people not having done the research. The "tell" in his encounter with Wes was how quickly he moved away from even trying to defend subjects he realized Wes knew a ton about. The fakes always know when the real is in the room and they quickly exit.
I rather stick to what I can see with my own eyes. I’ve been to a few continents on this planet, I’ve seen massive structures built by ancient man that have no explanation by modern engineers. The thing with text and translations isn’t always accurate, and Wes points out that the apocrypha texts do exist and it was obvious that Billy wasn’t well prepared using surface level material that was easily disprovable.

I’ve listen to some of the man’s opinions on other topics regarding ancient civilizations and ancient knowledge and it isn’t bad, however, he was out of his element against an actual biblical scholar and linguist. Also, there are other people better equipped to talk about ancient civilizations, structures, artifacts and engineering. Some examples, Randall Carlson, Graham Hancock and Christopher Dunn, who is actually a mechanical engineer. These people deal in structures, sculptures, sarcophagi and other artifacts that can’t be explained, duplicated or faked, and are most likely tens of thousands of years old, if not older. You can’t date stone. You can’t carve granite with copper. And you can’t lift seventy to eighty ton stones and place them three hundred feet above ground, which is the case in the great pyramid. Not to mention other works around the globe with stones weighing in at over a thousand tons. Until you can fully explain what our ancient ancestors physically pulled off, why worry about an omnipresent, omnipotent God, who most likely we can’t come close to understanding. God is always. Try to imagine that.

I been struggling with pantheism and monotheism for half a decade! I went from Buddism to Christianity. I have followed Aaron Abke for 6 years now and now I'm following Wesley Huff. I've been praying for this debate for a long time cause I struggle and adore aspects of both beliefs.

Patrick, I believe Christianity as become more transactional in our current society. Whereas when I was a child Christians were more personal, eg would invite someone to share their Christmas table. This year all my Christian friends were insular. No longer are you invited to share a meal together. People eat ‘on the go.’ Whereas as Judaism and Islam still eat as a family at least once a week. Christian’s once had an open heart based on Christian values. Today we have Mum and Dad working. It’s my belief now that the day women and men are equal in the same spheres is not ideal. Rearing a family, growing a family should be more important than buying the nearest ‘toy.’ Humans need other humans. Not Stuff.

He has the knowledge of a basic Orthodox or Catholic theologian, and I am saying with utmost respect to him, but his Calvinism still shows in the way he interpretes the ancient apostolic tradition. Your historical timeline needs some fact checking. While Constantine did make Christianity the state religion, he was working with an already well-established faith that had spread across multiple continents. And, if Christianity was just a Roman political tool, why did it flourish most in areas OUTSIDE Roman control? The Ethiopian and Persian churches were doing just fine without Rome's help. And those Gnostic texts you mentioned showed up centuries after the original gospels were already widely circulated. As for those ancient Near Eastern parallels sure, there are flood stories in multiple cultures. The historical details of Jesus's resurrection are completely different from myths about Osiris or Mithras. The early Christians were Jewish monotheists who rejected pagan mythology. Maybe dig a bit deeper into the actual historical evidence there's way more to this story than just "Rome did it".

I've run into a few guys like Billy over the years spouting similar tales about the Dogon tribe, etc...partly from Black Studies egyptology (Basil Davidson, Asa Hilliard, Ankha Diop), partly from the Mentellect movement, partly mind/science psychology, and with a little Voltaire/Dan Brown theories about the Vatican mixed in. What guys like Billy Carson are counting on is people not having done the research. The "tell" in his encounter with Wes was how quickly he moved away from even trying to defend subjects he realized Wes knew a ton about. The fakes always know when the real is in the room and they quickly exit.
I rather stick to what I can see with my own eyes. I’ve been to a few continents on this planet, I’ve seen massive structures built by ancient man that have no explanation by modern engineers. The thing with text and translations isn’t always accurate, and Wes points out that the apocrypha texts do exist and it was obvious that Billy wasn’t well prepared using surface level material that was easily disprovable.

Some examples, Randall Carlson, Graham Hancock and Christopher Dunn, who is actually a mechanical engineer. These people deal in structures, sculptures, sarcophagi and other artifacts that can’t be explained, duplicated or faked, and are most likely tens of thousands of years old, if not older. You can’t date stone. You can’t carve granite with copper. And you can’t lift seventy to eighty ton stones and place them three hundred feet above ground, which is the case in the great pyramid. Not to mention other works around the globe with stones weighing in at over a thousand tons. Until you can fully explain what our ancient ancestors physically pulled off, why worry about an omnipresent, omnipotent God, who most likely we can’t come close to understanding. God is always. Try to imagine that.

Patrick, I believe Christianity as become more transactional in our current society. Whereas when I was a child Christians were more personal, eg would invite someone to share their Christmas table.
This year all my Christian friends were insular. No longer are you invited to share a meal together. People eat ‘on the go.’
Whereas as Judaism and Islam still eat as a family at least once a week. Christian’s once had an open heart based on Christian values. Today we have Mum and Dad working. It’s my belief now that the day women and men are equal in the same spheres is not ideal. Due to the fact that people lived close to water sources as water is needed to survive, all ancient civilizations could have experienced deadly flooding without stealing a myth from somebody else. A historical part of us is not erased simply because we are a few generations away. The story of mankind is the taking up of farming. I do agree that Christianity was taken as a way to rule over others for dominance and power, like Sharia law and Islam. All religions will create a hierarchy of power. People do that. That is all a matter of human interpretation. We could argue over what books in the bible are authentic and which are todays equivalent climate change propaganda. The Ethiopian bible is likely closest to authentic source to study from as a purely historical reference on its contents. Your historical timeline needs some fact checking. While Constantine did make Christianity the state religion, he was working with an already well-established faith that had spread across multiple continents.
And, if Christianity was just a Roman political tool, why did it flourish most in areas OUTSIDE Roman control? The Ethiopian and Persian churches were doing just fine without Rome's help. And those Gnostic texts you mentioned showed up centuries after the original gospels were already widely circulated.
As for those ancient Near Eastern parallels sure, there are flood stories in multiple cultures. The historical details of Jesus's resurrection are completely different from myths about Osiris or Mithras. The early Christians were Jewish monotheists who rejected pagan mythology.
Maybe dig a bit deeper into the actual historical evidence there's way more to this story than just "Rome did it".

What I've learned in my studies of history is that reading a nation's history books over the ebbs and flows of their national identity we can sift out specific bias or agendas over time to get a fairly good idea of what probably most likely happened, especially when we run that through the changes in how that specific place's history gets taught over time in the books from a different country. I.e., American history books published in America in 1930, 40, 50 and what American history is in UK history books from the same decades with what is said about America in Japanese history from those decades as well, you will come away with a fairly good idea that none of that will fix our car for us..

Buddha taught a path to escape suffering, while Jesus came to take our suffering upon Himself. Buddha pointed to a way, Jesus said "I am the way." You might say Buddha was trying to climb the mountain to reach enlightenment, while Jesus came down from heaven to meet us in our valley. Pretty big difference there. And about that crucifixion - it wasnt just an unfortunate misunderstanding, it was actually His plan all along. The cross wasnt a failure of His mission, it was the completion of it. Wes should challenge these podcasters with large platforms on why they gave Billy Carson a platform in the first place. The bigger issue lies in chasing guests simply because they’ve appeared on other popular podcasts. By doing so, podcasters contribute to spreading false Christian claims and misinformation, making them equally accountable. Billy Carson is just the current scapegoat-his actions and inaccuracies have been exposed for some time. It’s commendable that Wes had the stones to speak out publicly on this matter.

I knew nothing about the background to this until I saw this guy on Rogan. I am a Christian and while it's important to factually correct false claims there's a smugness here and an element of humiliating the other guy that doesn't sit right. If it was me I'd have reached out to him privately to try and find out what was going on with him. As has been mentioned, he has kids. I don't get the purpose of continuing to hammer this unless it's about ego or a book deal
