- CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) - A close family friend of John Barnett said he predicted he might wind up dead and that a story could surface that he killed himself.
But at the time, he told her not to believe it.
"I know that he did not commit suicide," said Jennifer, a friend of Barnett's. "There's no way."

@sergeyromanov5560 Sure thing. So how do you enjoy being a shill for Boeing? Do they pay you in rubles? Probably in peanuts.
@@liamx6636 since I am not, you have just been caught lying so nothing else you say can be taken seriously. Nice!
So let's see.
1. There was no value for Boeing in killing him, obviously. The case is moving forward regardless of whether he is alive, and he had already testified.
2. The downsides are huge OTOH. First of all, lemmings (a huge chunk of the population) will immediately blame Boeing.
3. Second, the hit must be perfect, or Boeing loses everything. Who would gamble on this?
4. The family does not allege there was foul play. In fact, they provide a plausible explanation for the suicide:
"He was suffering from PTSD and anxiety attacks as a result of being subjected to the hostile work environment at Boeing which we believe led to his death," the family said.
"If this hadn't gone on so long, I'd still have my son, and my sons would have their brother and we wouldn't be sitting here. So in that respect, I do," Vicky Stokes said when asked if she places some of the blame for her son's death on Boeing.
The mother's phrasing is clear - she does not accept it was a hit.
The only allegation of "If anything happens to me, it's not suicide" comes from an anonymous woman who alleges she was his friend, but given that he never told anything like this to his family, this anonymous hearsay is doubtful.

It's not being revealed by an anonymous blog or social media post. This fact would provide a reason for people to give it some credibility.
2. It's possible someone who fears being suicided does not tell family for fear if worrying or uosetting them unnecessarily but would tell a close friend.
I would prefer to hear this from more than one source but I don't put this in the category of "conspiracy nut" even if it's incorrect. It certainly bears looking into more closely.
@@sergeyromanov5560 Considering the shit boeing pulls with people's safety in their airplanes I don't think they value human life much at all. I was a QA inspector for Boeing for 25 years. Two QA managers tried to ruin my career because I did my job by the book. I am one of those so-called line-stoppers. Most of the Boeing managers (MFG and QA) are incompetent; they don't know what they are doing. All they cared about was the job count. John Barnett was one of the few exceptions. RIP, John Barnett.
Those wondering why I did not quit the first day. Well, because I am not a quitter. My Boeing career, compared to my military career (retired), was a walk in the park. At Boeing, I have the union and HR to protect me, and yes, the pay was great...... when I found safety of flight issues, I felt great satisfaction even without any recognition from the management. I know that MOST machinist union employees built Boeing aircraft to a high standard (flightworthy). There will always be a few outliers, and inevitably there will be some "quality escapes," as the CEO puts it. That is when QA inspectors play an important role in identifying these "quality escapes." I have no regrets.
My late father worked for UTC for many years the same way - by the book - management always wants parts to be certified beyond actual limits. This is why “accidents” happen
I worked for Boeing for 35 years, the last 4 on commercial. It was hurry, hurry, hurry. None of this is surprising me in the least. I also worked 25 years on C-17 and they would never have put up with this.

This was not a suicide. I was a CORE Quality Manager for 13 years, pointing out issues, findings, and non-conformance quality to senior leaders' attention when I was advised to keep it under the rug. I was also told by senior managers and superintendents to fake the data from the findings and replicate the reports with less severe results to look good in the books. Of course, when I refused to proceed with their unsettled requests, I was harassed, discriminated against, and held back with promotions and salary increases. The last three months before leaving the Boeing Company, I was assigned to a manager who was a total racist who made sure I knew who the boss was. Leaving that company was the best decision I ever made. A few months later, those non-conformances killed the passengers on those 737-Max flights, and symptoms of poor-quality products continued to unravel with new problems affecting the safety of commercial flights. RIP, John Barnett - you did what you could to save innocent lives by telling the truth. We are all so sorry that it cost you.

JUSTICE PERIOD
It’s insane how blatant it was like days before his testimony. How obvious can it get???
Think about it logically: why would someone that went up against one of the biggest corporations on the planet, suddenly kill himself in the middle of the trial that will bring everything to light?
Exactly and why would he have done it in a parking lot?.
I mean the truth is, people kill themselves all the time in all manner of places….so using any of this as evidence to why it wasn’t a suicide doesn’t make sense. Also I mean the info is out already. He already blew the whistle so there is kinda no point in killing the dude. It’s not gonna change anything now.
Think about it. This all started in 2017. And his family said he had PTSD and extreme stress since the whole thing started. He kills himself in 2024 after several testimonies. A suicide actually makes sense. If you wanna take someone out who is going to testify it’s traditionally accepted that this would be done before testifying. I’m not buying into this one. This is just one family family member. I’d bet others say different. Suicide often comes as a shock different family members. She wouldn’t have been super close to him. She doesn’t necessarily know one way or another for sure. Was the gun his? Did he have mental issues like PTSD, ask questions, this news network just wants the “killed” theory for views and clicks, they don’t wanna ask real questions. The FBI would ask all the questions and I am suspicious this one is open and closed.
@forgivemylaughter A lot of that won't matter in court. He can't testify. A judge may not allow in his previous statements because the jury can't evaluate the truthfulness in person and the defense can't cross examine him.
