@3:40 Nah, this isn't WoW. The normal mode raids are very casual approachable content with no serious prog. It is 100% fine the normal mode drops at a terrible time, it's not going to negatively impact anyone really. Savage being delayed til after New Years is probably a boon for most, it's not fighting family and travel time. Honestly, the raid delays are probably better aside from people having scheduled time off around different dates.
Well, to be fair normal raids in WoW are also very easy and casual. The problems are the lfg and that most WoW players in that modes are not so good players, in part because the game doesn't teach much and people always expect you to have addons
FF14's normal raid tiers are always more challenging than core storyline, but far less challenging than Savage/Extreme. It's a nice little step up in difficulty for casual players, which make up the majority, and a stepping stone to the savage tier for the hardcore endgame raiders to chew on. I expect to clear the normal Endwalker raids the same day I start them; I probably won't do the savages but no way in hell do I expect I'd clear even one of them on the same day I started it without being hard carried.
From the written part it really did feel like part of his concern was one of continuity, etc. I don't know if that's just a quirk of the translation or not, but if it is it really does show a huge attention to detail.

This. I made sure to have self control and only watch trailers for expansions once I beat the ones that came before. Really poor choice on Michael's part.
Yes! While the plot points that were spoiled aren’t exactly massive, IMO the emotional beats are! End of 4.0 and 5.3 will have a lot less emotional build up if you watched the trailer, especially so for the latter!
Started playing FFXIV in late July, and I can’t put it down. Just finished the MSQ, now leveling a DRK, grinding Tomestones, and working on Anima weapons. The game is so fun, and engaging. And the story is SO FUCKING GOOD!
I think you misinterpreted the PvP changes. They weren't saying that all jobs have the same PvP kit, with only an Adrenaline Rush to distinguish them. They were reiterating that, as in current, PvP kits will be different from and more simple than PvE kits on a given class, and saying that Adrenaline Rushes will no longer be shared by role and will instead be unique per class.
Yeah...this is a pretty big miss. I'm guessing no one on their team PvP's much so they didn't understand why adrenaline rush changes were phrased that way.
@@HanabiraKage If you mean the Adrenaline Rush changes, it isn't clear. My personal interpretation is that Adrenaline Rushes will be job-unique in all PvP modes, as it doesn't make sense for them to maintain a separate system for Crystal Conflict and their more casual Frontline and Rival Wings modes. That being said, we're not sure.
@@tangentkatz yeah, that was a GIANT mistake. Its basically just "simplified PvP kit, Adrenalime Rushes are now unique per class". And I am happy for that, its a nice detail and may breathe more life into the pvp.

I spent 2 years in Japan there business practice are 1000000 times more professional then the US practices from the dark ages. My respect to Yoshi P and there team
I do question your ability to determine the level of professionalism of an entire nation's business practices by 2 years in one and any amount of time in the other, especially when unable to correctly type "their." I imagine the level of professionalism you encounter in any nation is going to greatly vary from business to business, let alone from city to city, state to state, prefecture to prefecture, etc. I know what excessively long hours and then basically being coerced into drinking with your boss after work every night has been a relatively normal thing in many business areas in Japan for a long time, and often leads young men to be away from home for far longer than they would like to be. I don't think any nation really has things down as nicely as we'd all like them to be. I don't think anyone at Konami would gush about professionalism, for example.
@@Xbob42 Well I think it's generally accepted that Japanese culture is polite and professional. I bet that Japan looks down on Konami, as they should. Konami WAS professional until the leadership was changed. Now they are clowns. Every nation has clowns.
@@Mystra Well, yes, Japanese culture is polite, not entirely sure about professional, but that's not exactly what I'm talking about here. I'm specifically talking about workplace environments and behaviors enforced via either written or unwritten rules, like the drinking one mentioned above. There's no rule at any company that you need to go out with your boss and drink, for example, but for many people they do it out of a sense of obligation, which I think is quite unhealthy, work follows them everywhere and never seems to let go. Surface level politeness is all well and good but in the long-term it's the behind-the-scenes behavior that's important. Another example is that in, say, tech related fields, seniority is everything, so however the top guy was trained to do something is how it's done, and since it's a lot more common in Japan to work at a company for as long as you can (including your entire life, thankfully I hear this is becoming less common) that person may be there for literally decades holding the company back. To give a more specific example, you need only look at the very subject of this video: Video games! The reason a lot of Japanese ports of PC games seem to have the same exact issues (game logic being tied to FPS being chief among them, along with FPS caps in general and sometimes resolution caps) is because a whole bunch of dudes in the 80s and 90s learned to code that way, and continue to have/teach their subordinates that that's the way to do it. Slowly, very slowly, this has been undone by most Japanese companies making PC ports over the last decade or so, but for a while it was awful. Of course, that doesn't mean it's gone away. Square Enix, the super professional and polite company we see here, releases a ton of shoddy ass ports of their non-mainline games, replete with the aforementioned issues related to FPS. Want Type-0 at higher than 30 FPS? Suck a fat one. World of Final Fantasy? Eat it. Want Kingdom Hearts 2 to stop crashing so much? Tough shit, Timmy. Sorry, I'm rambling, my main goal here wasn't to demean a culture or promote another, I'm just saying that if a company is good and professional, give *them* the credit, not an entire nation or society or whatever. Let people own their victories and their failures. Yoshi-P is an amazing director and producer, for example, and it's not because of Japanese culture or because Tokyo produces a bunch of humble boys, those sorts of things may have had an influence, but we should give credit to *him* for who *he* chooses to be.
I think he is so sad also because of other reason than delay. Isn't there some moon event IRL on original date? He wanted to align it perfectly to match EW theme...
Humbling yourself unfortunately is one of those things westerners, especially younger folks don't understand the value of. I think many see it as weakness, when in fact it can be the complete opposite. Fans would go to war with and for Yoshi and that makes him stronger than all of Bliz.
Western philosophy and values are based on "the individual conquering his surroundings and reshaping the world to his will". Eastern philosophy and values are about "abandoning your desires and working in harmony with the world".
I would disagree. I think a lot of people, especially the young, appreciate someone powerful humbling themselves, as long as it's genuine. But it differs based on, in large part, conservative/progressive divides.
Eating humble pie is one of the strongest things that we can do, alongside lifting each other up. I don't really care for the western vs Eastern thing, as globalisation really skewed that line, but being humble is extremely hard when you're proud of something, especially something you've worked on for an entire decade.
The Rank 6 part of the Requirements for plot purchasing for a Free Company is based on the Free Company Rank, not individual player ranks. It's to make it so you can't just form an FC to just get a house right away.

@@Qazqi From a post way back in 2015, they apparently use 3 famous RNG algorithms in the game. They specifically mentioned Mersenne Twister. They also spoke of Gambler's Fallacy and Cognitive Bias. It was a good read.
3:35 That actually doesn't matter at all. It's not gonna piss off anyone. There is no week 1 Savage raider who would really care about normal mode release date. There is no normal mode prog. It's just super casual content that you can clear blindly on the same day it's released with random group of players using the Duty Finder (similar to LFR for our new friends coming from WoW). The gear dropped from normal is not what we use for week 1 Savage prog either. We use pentamelded crafted gear, which won't be available until Savage opens in January anyway. All that really matters is Savage release date, not normal. And that date was set to January, after holiday season is over. So, everything is all good for the raid schedule.

He's obviously one of those people that thinks it's a good idea to read the final chapter of a book before they've even reached the halfway point. No idea why anyone who was invested in the story would spoil themselves this way.
95% of the trailer for uninitiated is just living on the hype of the music and shiny lights. There is only one relevant spoiler that may impact his playthrough of Stormblood/Shadowbringers (spoiler below): . . . . . . . He now knows who will live through the expansion.
he's accidentally seen the shb trailer and he's in stormblood at least. The endwalker launch trailer spoils two characters, one of whom he's already spoiled on due to the nature of his job.
@@rachiefases I think that comparison doesn't work well. Reading the final chapter before reaching the halfway point would be more like boosting from the middle or end of Heavensward to Endwalker. I was SO so heartened by the overall reaction of the players in Twitch chat. "A smile better suits a hero" spam. Everyone I know has been super understanding. For me, it means that I might be able to finish leveling all my crafting jobs, which would have me pumped!
the reason why Yoshi P does the print out thing is to prevent leaks and also to add a bit more of a personal touch to his QAs. It feels more personal to have Yoshi P personally share something he would have sitting on his desk than to just show you a excel slide for everything. It's kinda like how instead of making a pre-recorded video when showing off gameplay in the live letter instead they have Yoshi P pick up a game controller and just play the game himself.
Honestly, as someone who works and goes to university all week, the new housing lottery system makes me feel like I actually have a chance at getting a house
His last game fired all his friends and he has been on a hate revenge mode for months because of it. If blizz didn't close blizz-eu we wouldn't be here at all.
The xp downscaling means we get a normal big patch update maintenance. They announced they'd have to put the game into a 3 week maintenance just to boost everyone up to the next level. I'll take the time to grind out the next level instead because that is a massive amount of time to be down.
When Yoshi-P speaks, you really feel like its him talking and he truly cares, I don't understand a word he says but he can convey the emotion and sheer love of his baby. Compare it to the coporate bullshit from game Devs from "Other Games" that probably don't even play them, its like yea. No wonder ones star is ascendant and the others is falling.
Yeah, we literally found out through an investors meeting. I didn't realize it, but when you think about the discrepancy from Yoshi it's actually insane. Yoshi is everything a developer should be, we appreciate him.
One thing to note is Pandaemonium stuff was always gonna release on the 21st, but on the original schedule it was gonna be the savage version which was a much bigger problem ^^' clearing normal should just take an evening, not days of prog.
For some context around the HQ material removal. As a max-level omni-crafter. There was not a single recipe in the game that could not be HQ'd with 100% certainty with only normal materials (assuming you have the appropriately materia'd gear). This includes the expert recipes used to make current battle and gatherer/crafter gear. Which meant that any HQ materials you obtained through gathering or retainer ventures were essentially the same to you as normal quality, only they would take up one additional slot in your inventory/retainer. So in order to save space, we would have to whack-a-mole convert every HQ material we received down to normal quality to save space. It was a lot of extra busy work for little to no gameplay gain.
I have the game since day one of initial release. I never stick around for more than a few month. And i came back to the game a few month back, preordered the Xpack and learned everything i needed to learn to survive in that game.
The delay means I have one more paycheck to try and fix my computer or buy a new one so I can play FFXIV again. Selfishness aside, I think its much better overall to delay the game for a better launch. The alternative probably looks something like the game being somewhat broken for at least 2 weeks anyways. This is a staggeringly large expansion both in terms of story content and new/revamped systems. There are a lot of moving parts so it's not hard to see how they could have been blindsided last minute by a major issue. So yeah, even if I were able to play right now, I'd be perfectly fine with the delay.

With the downscale experience thing, it has occurred several times in World of Warcraft. It was 1 experience thing, and I cant recall a time they've mentioned it.
I have no idea how Yoshi knew I needed the extra time to grind the Moogle event, but what a total hero. Gonna get that jacket with his name stitched in, and my magic purple hawk is named "Yoshi" now.
in the German version of the launch trailer it sound more like a "i try this new thing, see you all later". like it happens the same as with Lyse. so, I'm not really worried and it would be a reasonable decision of the character.
YES! Was waiting for that Garo collab to come back! When it first dropped, The Feast was the main means of getting wolf marks. I cap on marks too easily now and would love to finish my other sets. Would appreciate a new set for SAM. I think gear sharing with MNK was a mistake solely for glam purposes.
Actually, the Pandaemonium coming out on the 21st is something a lot of high-end players are happy about because the Savage difficulty, and therefore the main raid tier is pushed back to January 4th, after all of the major holidays. Before, Week 1 of raid was basically around christmas time, which would've been an even worse issue.

For you Retail Warriors. Stay strong. Stay Healthy. It sucks you guys don't get enjoy the game as much as you wanted to before blackout dates and holiday shifts. But we wish the best for you and everyone else hurting from these changes.
In the old release schedule, Savage would've been released on the 21st, which would've been even quite bad for savage raid proggers. so personally, I'm happy about the delay
I've seen people on the WoW reddit call Yoshi-P's "reaction" fake, because "he's fake crying to appeal to WoW haters" and similiar stuff. The COPIUM is still strong in the WoW community. Savage being delayed til after New Years is probably a boon for most, it's not fighting family and travel time. Honestly, the raid delays are probably better aside from people having scheduled time off around different dates.
Yep, most Savage raiders I've heard from are thrilled.
well sadly many people already scheduled thier time off based arround initial date, i wish they announce it more early
Well, to be fair normal raids in WoW are also very easy and casual. The problems are the lfg and that most WoW players in that modes are not so good players, in part because the game doesn't teach much and people always expect you to have addons
@@rodrigobogado8756 I like to refer to normal raids in FF14 as "Challenging and casual".
Nice to see passion and attention to detail for a game for once.
From the written part it really did feel like part of his concern was one of continuity, etc. I don't know if that's just a quirk of the translation or not, but if it is it really does show a huge attention to detail.
@@Kasaaz continuity is important with a game this story driven, everything needs to click. Not focusing on that is one of WoWs big issues.
Final Fantasy in general is all about passion and attention, but that doesnt mean they fuck up sometimes XD
@@MelaniAlarcon of course they do, running an mmo is an ever expanding experiment. The difference is how they respond to fucking up.
@@spiritas5372 hahah yes but i meant for all Final Fantasys in general are like that, also this is not their first MMO, FF11 is older and still going (is older than WoW)
I booked leave for the early release so a little disappointed, but not as disappointed as I am with you for watching the launch trailer for Endwalker without finishing Shadowbringers!
This. I made sure to have self control and only watch trailers for expansions once I beat the ones that came before. Really poor choice on Michael's part.
hope you can reschedule it. and if not, hopefully you find time to play EW still!
And the story is SO FUCKING GOOD!
cant wait to see what your game is Bel
I think you misinterpreted the PvP changes. They weren't saying that all jobs have the same PvP kit, with only an Adrenaline Rush to distinguish them. They were reiterating that, as in current, PvP kits will be different from and more simple than PvE kits on a given class, and saying that Adrenaline Rushes will no longer be shared by role and will instead be unique per class.
Yeah...this is a pretty big miss. I'm guessing no one on their team PvP's much so they didn't understand why adrenaline rush changes were phrased that way.
I think it also only affects Crystal Conflict?
@@HanabiraKage It will apply to all PvP contents. Don't really see why it should only contain in the new pvp mode.

@@BknMoonStudios you mean modern western world, old western world and ancient greek had some amazing philsophys.

It sounds like a laughing matter of “Oh psh that’ll never happen”. Unfortunately, it does! A lot…
@@games12444 Yeah I swear they took hints from the Xcom games.
Yep. It's a symptom of the RNG algorithm they use. Over large sample sizes it's very accurate, but in smaller sizes it tends to be very streaky.
@@KLGChaos That's... randomness in general. You expect streaks to happen every so often. It's pretty likely they use a standard PRNG such as mt19937 on the backend, but we'll never know.
For me it would off bin beta over the holidays cos I'm off work I'm not really fussed but my raid team where ready for it over Christmas lol

He's a WoW refugee. You know how it is/was, the cinematics are good with or without story and there is no real story in the game. I'd call it an old habit.
He's obviously one of those people that thinks it's a good idea to read the final chapter of a book before they've even reached the halfway point. No idea why anyone who was invested in the story would spoil themselves this way.
95% of the trailer for uninitiated is just living on the hype of the music and shiny lights. There is only one relevant spoiler that may impact his playthrough of Stormblood/Shadowbringers (spoiler below):

He now knows who will live through the expansion.
he's accidentally seen the shb trailer and he's in stormblood at least. The endwalker launch trailer spoils two characters, one of whom he's already spoiled on due to the nature of his job.
@@rachiefases I think that comparison doesn't work well. Reading the final chapter before reaching the halfway point would be more like boosting from the middle or end of Heavensward to Endwalker. What he's doing is more like reading the three lines on the back cover of the final volume of a book series before getting there. Not a lot to read into without the proper context other than having confirmation about characters being alive, oh well.

11:52 I don't get how people can be upset that they're losing their in-between level XP. Literally just finish your single level. That's a lot better than a few extra DAYS of maintenance.

One thing to note is Pandaemonium stuff was always gonna release on the 21st, but on the original schedule it was gonna be the savage version which was a much bigger problem ^^' clearing normal should just take an evening, not days of prog.

Bellular: I watched the Endwalker Launch Trailer anyway...

Congrats on your game's release! Glad you're able to get some time in your busy schedule to play some FF at the same time you're working on your game
Spear fishing new endgame! YAAAAAH!
So yeah, even if I were able to play right now, I'd be perfectly fine with the delay.
theres a nice meme trending with yoshi-p apologizing per bow and aragorn tolding him "you bow to no one". if you want some hits right in the feels look at this years fanfest :o
Normal mode dropping on 21st is whatever, that content gets cleared at your pace and is made for everyone to go in and experience it.
Even though I can’t move my pto around I understand why he had to move the date you only get one shot at a release and I’d much prefer it release the way the team thinks is best then get it a few weeks early in time for my vacation. I hope he knows how many of us support him and the team. 🥰
Yeah, this is mostly my opinion. Sucks that these weird white knights feel the need to be so damn judgy on how people use their time off though.
Rydia's gear for casters is something I've been hoping for since 2013.
It's allright. I already moved my vacation back 2 weeks, no biggie. I can wait, I trust him. When he deems it necessary, it's necessary.
Love the hearts in the title
I managed to change my holiday days without any issue. Works in my favour cause I booked off two weeks so I go back to work for 3 days and them am off till 11/01 for the xmas holidays! A whole month to play this game is soooooo good 🤤🤤
With the downscale experience thing, it has occurred several times in World of Warcraft.
Perhaps taking the seat of his father in the Forum? Or something to that extent?
Oof you watched the trailer….. that’s definitely going to color your experience going forward
It’s funny how my first thought upon hearing about the delay was “Oh, Bellular has more time to catch up then” XD
14:05 - Lol @ Pint's video.
"Now, now keep camping! You wouldn't want to go back to Torghast, would you?"
The delay is actually better for me since I am going to be gone the original week of launch but now I'll be back right before launch. Ty Yoshi P.
We have to take into account that he had to delay because they put in so much not planned extra contend that they had no time for QA.
