Thank you Mike, having just watched over 13 minutes on another channel and being totally confused, you explained all the questions and mind fuckery demystification that I needed within the first 30 seconds, excellent work, great respect to you for not expecting everyone to know what is going on at all times.

I'd love to see a shoot out between this, IK Multimedia's T-Racks Mastering Suite, IK's Lurrsen Mastering Console, Izotope, a mastering plugin chain (maybe using Studio One's mastering console and a hardware setup. That would be really neat and provoke a lot of discussion. 😎

Yup 2nd this comment. Lurrsen didn’t have much tweekabilty & I found ozone a bit difficult to manage settings.

this tool gives you a starting point. for less experienced people it can be a form of learning mastering.

Yeah, that’s kind of how I’m looking at it. I use MasteringTheMix bassroom and mixroom to set balance and using sonible’s limiter to do that. They seem to work well despite me knowing what I’m doing when it comes to mastering, but there’s still something missing and I don’t know what. Maybe using this for a few months would help me learn

Interesting that Softube put the Weiss MP EQ is on a master chain as that one is minimum phase. The Weiss EQ1 does linear phase and dynamic. I spotted the EQ1 on some other chains.

Softube has this "Flat Sterel sound to it" I dont like it, currently Im using, Nebula and Acustica Audio with Reasons SSL Mixer for Pre Mastering, Add Vocals, Level Out, run that through my outboard Gear, then finish up with some Aucstica Audio Polish (Lime / Neve) then Im done, I dont think Im swapping that out for this.......

Right, but for me maybe it make sense to use flow. I have almost all from AA. In the master I can choose between Ivory, Sand, Erin, Magenta end so on. But I will do use AA in the mix for tracks a Buses, some before of flow in the 2Bus and the the flow or Howie’s Weinberg suite. It’s so fast to the master with flow and in this way I like that is a little steril, to not over do it with AA. It can go a little nasty sometimes...

Acustica will never establish itself - wonky company for "audiophiles" and collectors - but working pros stay away, as a;lways ;)!

I didn’t feel that way AT ALL on 5 mixes I’ve done and most reviewers using this suite showcase an amazing improvement of songs that were already great sounding
But I guess it’s on how you use it and your ear.
Sounds more like you are just throwing in it on and listening to the basic preset without tweeking
I’m also confused by the sterile flat idea when YOU can adjust the sound?!
Again how can it sound that way if you have so many ways to adjust the sound with the individual plug ins plus the macro option!
For example on the Modern master setting I tend to play with the width and the Bus processor very great tone and saturation
Parameters (that are 2nd to only what true iron does for me at least)
But everyone is different! to each it own!

A preset chain which doesn't involve any signal analysing (except input level gain) can't do a proper mastering tbh. Ozone 11 on the other hand is a much better automatic mastering tool.

      ozone is ai trash

    • @eklipseRomania
      @eklipseRomania 3 місяці тому +4

@@YEE941 I disagree with you both. I think this is better than ozone but I don't think ozone is trash, it's just not number 1 anymore - it makes everything too loud and distorted and the AI can't tell the actual genre and if the track has already been mastered before. Also ozone doesn't know what to do if you already have something ahead of it in the chain - let's say a Soundgoodizer or SSL multiband - it still applies its own multiband compression at exactly the same level. I'm sure that in a few years, ozone will be back on track. Until then I'll enjoy my new Flow subscription.

@@eklipseRomania god partice is the good setting in ozone and is way eaiser/faster to use. flow has preset plugin chains but u can tweak them to hearts content and it has signal analyzing in every part of the chain unlike op said.

I have ozone 8 and noticed the analyser just seems to try to match my track against pink noise. I do like it as a tool though. The EQ, compression and saturation are very good. Lately I find myself gravitating towards TDR limiter 6 ge for final clipping/limiting.

This isn't an automatic mastering tool nor has it been advertised as such. It's a preset chain as a starting point with macros to do specified moves or you can get into the modules and get more detailed with it. If anything It's a tool to help YOU do a quick master or just kind of teach you how to Master.
